Extra tip, buy the clear plastic coat bag at the dollar store, unzip it and place all your Christmas wrap, tape, bows, Scissors all in it, zip it up, hang it in the corner of your closet, when you need it next year the gift wrap will be fresh to use
@@lenny108, they are Hallmark. The cards are, anyway. I used to work as a vendor for Hallmark, maintaining cards at retail locations(not Hallmark stores), and I worked in DT. Dollar Tree's cards are Hallmark brand, usually.
I loved your comment about brushing your teeth twice a day and then adding; "At least the ones you want to keep!" You got a belly laugh out of me. Loved it!
Mine, $1. I wouldn't say 'most', but I'm sure it's coming. They say that ours is going to be mostly $1 but with an aisle of Dollar Tree Plus. I guess we'll see.
I got these reusable to-go coffee cups with lids from Dollar Tree (2/1$). Used them literally every day for over a year and they're still going strong! Also - fun fact - a lot of the food products at Dollar Tree are unique items from the manufacturer and are made-to-order. So those are the freshest fruit snacks, cheez its, and other snacks you can get anywhere (although not always the best value for volume)! Off brand OTC products (like aspirin, pregnancy tests, cough drops, etc) are all heavily regulated by the FDA for strengths/dosages/manufacturing quality - so the knock off brands are EXACTLY the same as the branded items usually. Just make sure the item has a drug facts panel and you're good to go! I've worked in consumer products for 10 years and it blows my mind!
And make sure those OTC items were NOT made in China!! Soo much controversy about those kinds of products and how they are produced over there. I'm only referring to consumables....😉
I think I remember when VO5 was a "regular" or "fancy" brand in the '80s. They had all the same ads. It was "Alberto VO5." I've been saying for years they have the same great formula even now!
That’s right, Alberto VO5. I remember it was categorized as a high end brand in Puerto Rico. They used to have a tube of oil that kept my hair in top condition.
I have yet to find made in the US meds.at the dollar tree. Its all made in China. Please name the US stuff. I would be willing to try it.i have found some packaged in the US, manufactured in china.
LOL We did a ton of RV travel when our boys were growing up, so I understand that the "Stopping at Sam's Club" shopping model isn't what you do on the road. Dollar Tree is perfect for that. 🙂
@@winginitwithjohn8451 The only advice I'd further give: before you leave any store is double check that you have all your stuff from the purchase. If you leave Walmart after that "big" shop trip, and forget something, you might not notice until you are 3 hours down the road....oh no. Too late. 🙃
This is an amazing channel that serves a purpose. I’ am new. The book “Living On Almost Nothing” is one that I can’t put down. I sincerely love the book and PLEASE keep making these videos. Thank you so much!
Another good video. As I am a dental hygienist, thank you for the public service announcement reminding viewers how important dental health is. Side bar, prevention (daily care of teeth) is going to save you money because restorative dentistry (fillings and crowns) are not cheap. Thanks PP 😷
I really appreciate these videos. You are so straight forward about the sheer suckiness of poverty, while pointing out that poverty is financial while poor is mindset.
Hey Prepper Princess, it’s Stephen from Patreon. Loved the video today. I was at the store today and wanted to get some tomatoes to make cheese and tomato sandwiches for lunch at work. They wanted £2.50 for 6 tomatoes! I then had the idea to buy a jar of chutney instead for only £1. This will last a few weeks when making sandwiches. It’s also delicious. It’s funny how you can make savings when you don’t even realise. It all adds up. 😀
@@marilynpeppers1356 LOL I got Piccalilli, a type of chutney. It’s a British interpretation of South Asian pickles, a relish of chopped and pickled vegetables and spices. Regional recipes vary considerably.
I love DT for their Himalayan salt. It's $4 at my local grocery store - the same exact one. Also their pop-up parchment paper is a steal. You get 25 sheets for $1. My local grocer charges $5 for the same number of sheets. That equals a $7 savings in one trip. Their greeting cards are a steel too. Many of them are 2 for $1, and they are Hallmark cards!
I love ALL your money saving tips & tricks. My favorite mind blowing tip is using phenomenally less detergent in the wash. The clothes come out clean & even softer. I NEVER noticed the letters & numbers inside the caps until you mentioned it… so thanks for that.
I was shocked at how inexpensive dental floss was at Walmart compared to Target, about 25% of what Target charges. Also, I cut my thumb and was ready to go to the urgent care because it wouldn’t stop bleeding. A friend of mine said to put ground coffee on it. It stopped immediately!!! About an hour later I rinsed off the ground coffee and it still didn’t start bleeding. The ground coffee acted as a vasoconstrictor.
@@concernedcitizen4031 She said ground coffee so I'm going to say "dry"...if she would have stated coffee grounds...then I would have said, "wet" just my thoughts...I'm willing to try both.
My go-to Dollar Tree items: Chunk White Tuna (Bumble Bee Brand), coffee filters, cleaning supplies, gift bags/tissue, greeting cards, shampoo/conditioner. Walmart: canned vegetables (50cents each) and french bread (1.00). I think Walmart is entirely overpriced on produce and meat!
I strted watching this channel this morning I can not stop, I got addicted immensely, I need help to close RUclips!the money I save on food with this miraculous lady I will spend on rehab specialist to fight my addiction to watch her videos. Kudos to You Frugal Princess!
Your dry humor is fantastic! Thank you for your no nonsense approach to money! I love that you don’t care what others think; very refreshing! Please keep it up!!
Prepper Princess thank you for caring for others the way you do😍. You taught me about solar generators, I have three now. I really do appreciate your help!
As always, I just love your channel. I see you mention Wally World and Dollar Tree a lot. And both are fine stores as you point out. When I lived in CA. I found the .99 Cent Only store and I fell in love!. Hit that place on delivery day and the veggies are as fresh as any supermarket. Bread, rolls, and muffins are only .99 as well. I currently live in the Phoenix area now and they are everywhere here as well. All of these stores have their quirks. A single person or a family can realize great savings by buying there. I love all of your advice and I am nowhere close to being debt-free, YET. However, I have a much better road map now. Keep up the outstanding work.
It's called Great Value Ultimate Fresh. There are various scents. It's highly rated on reviews! I'm a Gain lover, but I'm going to give it a try! Let me know how it works for you.
We have a set shopping list for each store. Dollar Tree, Aldi and Kroger (protein milk and discount bananas). I don’t use Walmart because the store is too big and takes too long to shop there and my time is money.
I feel the same way about Costco. I shop there once every three months. I limit how much I have to go there, stock up when I am. Prices on somethings are why I go back.
Jess I order my items on line set my delivery time and they bring out and place in my vehicle free! If they don't have an item many times substitute higher priced items for the lower price. Saves me a lot of money!
Wanted to let you know, I just watched a video where you were making chicken soup. The comments are turned off, so here you go, lol. When you cut up an onion, put a wet paper towel behind where you will be cutting up the onion. It will attract the gases that make you cry, works really well! Happy cooking 😊
Hey, great video..ASDA a UK supermarket is owned by Walmart, so I can relate your advice. Thanks. I have got my grocery spend down to $32.00 per month.
Not here they went up to 57 cents per can now and I believe some are 62 cents each also. They used to be 50 cents. The 3 or 4/$1 days are long gone folks.
I love the dollar tree! Especially so i can hear my pennies scream as i squeeze them harder lol. I also get a lot of my prepping and bartering items there.
Girrrrlllll- I am SO glad you popped up in my recommended feed! I've been binging you for a couple of days now while I recover from some broken toes, lol. I'm about to come into a couple hundred thousand dollars from an inheritance that I was never expecting and your "How I became the millionaire next door" video could not have been more timely. Leave you me - I am not wealthy by any means - I'm currently behind in my property taxes but getting it taken care of and I never want to be here again. I've been broke for a few years so Dollar tree is my best friend. Not only have I learned to go without (and be fine with it), I've gotten extremely creative in bringing in enough to keep the lights on- but, I'm only 56 and fighting for disability and need to make sure that this inheritance lasts me as long as possible and grows as much as possible in the time I have left. I just downloaded your book to my Kindle and didn't even realize it was included in my subscription for free until after I hit download... I felt guilty for a minute that you weren't going to get paid for it but then I remembered what you tell us, "Why pay for it if you can get it for free?" and the guilt immediately went out the window. I figured you'd understand. 🤣 (Sorry about the thumb but I truly relate to the dog being worth it. MY dog is the reason I have three broken toes and probably need surgery - I keep telling her if she wasn't so cute things may have ended differently when it happened.)
I find several items at Dollar Tree that are much cheaper than anyplace else! I find shower back loofas on a stick things (technical definition I know) that I need being disabled as well as organizational containers for refrigerator/pantry and dresser drawers. Also the L.A.'s finest yellow cleaner is a concentrate and is great to clean so many things! I agree with stocking up on bandaids/first aid items at DT too. Being a single person I don't often go through Neosporin and pain relievers before expiration so only paying $1 or getting a smaller quantity is fine for me. Walmart has great overall prices. As a disabled person who relies on delivery for groceries, I joined Walmart's grocery delivery membership this year and I have been very pleased with the service. I am also generally pleased with Walmart's Great Value/Equate brands. I also appreciate that you can add non-grocery items to your order. Thanks for the Rocky video in your posts! As a dog mom to three senior dachshunds I always like seeing other people's furkids! I really like your tagline "Do what you can with what you've got.".
Even if Dollar Tree goes to 1.25, I find quality items that are well worth it. I also find that lots of money can be wasted on large quantities when you really just need a little of something and Dollar Tree always delivers. My favorite thing is the Sunday paper with coupons at Dollar Tree. One coupon can pay for the paper. Is it just my town paper? Also, the Campbell's soup is larger and cheaper. Limited selection and must use can opener, but I love scoring a bigger can for less.
I clean at a laundry mat. People usually put too much soap in the washer at the get-go. This results in a soapy rinse. So my suggestion is to use 1/4 of the amount called for on the label, because the agitation is about 80% of the cleaning process. The clothes bump into each other and this helps dislodge the dirt. So do yourself a favor and in order to make your detergent go further, use only about 1/4 of the amount called for on the label.
We don't shop at Wal-Mart too much due to having to wait in a long line to check out with a live person rather than a machine. We do use the self-serve checkout if we're paying cash, sometimes. Call us "old school" if you wish because we are in some ways. There are some things that we need that Wal-Mart seems to keep stocked that other stores don't have regularly. We patronize the Dollar Tree store too fairly often.
I try to avoid the do it yourself check out. They don't pay me wages to check myself out. However do sometimes places a order online because it helps employ more people.
@Prepper Princess "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right "- Henry Ford ...... The first time I heard this quote was on your channel. Today I just heard Zig Ziglar say it in one of his motivational speaking. I see a common trait in all three of you, which is a positive mindset, wealth and intelligence. This gives me confirmation that I need to really get working on me... aggressively!
Reminds me of the old article (may have been satire) where the rural lady was bemoaning the closing of her local "Dollar General" because as she put it, "...you could go shopping there without having to get all dressed up like if you were going to Wal Mart". But I **DO** love our Dollar Tree! Where else can you get a fist full of reading glasses for less than the cost of a single pair elsewhere?
I watched one of your older videos about dumpster diving for clothes. We have a flea market by me, that at the end of the day when stuff doesn't get sold, they leave it in piles at the end of the flea market day. I usually go through that stuff. What amazes me is how many people throw out clothes that don't get sold. I've always said that if I was able to do it, I would gather up those clothes at the end of the flea market and make a huge donation to Goodwill or my local thrift shop. Because if I can't use it someone else can. Many times at the end of the day I have grabbed things that were cast off and been able to use them for myself and if not I've gone straight to Goodwill with whatever I took that was Castaway and gave it to Goodwill. Better for it not to end up in a landfill.
You need to be careful with these type of bargains as they sometimes sell them at a smaller size / less content. The smaller size makes the product more expensive per gram / lb / litre / sheet, research before you buy.
I agree - Dollar Tree has a lot of great deals, but you still need to do your math. Dollar Tree often makes that brand name $1 by giving you less. It's a bummer.
I love Dollar Tree drinking glasses. Not only are they inexpensive, but the quality is amazing. The glass is thicker than drinking glasses purchased elsewhere, which has saved my clumsy butt more than once. I've dropped them in the sink before and they did not break.
Yes all my dishes are from Dollar tree. If they break, who cares. Only thing I won't buy are utensils cause they tend to be flat stamped metal and have rough edges.
Oh my gosh, I love you girlie! Thank you so much for helping us! I’ve watched all your videos and you are a breath of fresh air how you share your knowledge and success with us!
The Dutch Maid coconut and oatmeal cookies are super delicious. The Old Orchard diet juice is made in America and 62oz for $1 is perfect for diabetics or people watching their carbs.
I have a Walmart and dollarama (what we call in Canada) and I totally agree with everything you said about dollarama ! We have a lot of cheap toys found in dollarama and I appreciate that you didn’t mention toys because I do get worried about toxic materials. And that’s what I get worried about with the cooking items too and the use of plastic however, you did mention that they’re broadening to bamboo, etc. very good video! Also it’s crazy how our prices here are so much higher. Never seen essential items in Walmart that are only 90 cents.
My Dollar Tree go-to purchases: parchment paper, cleaning cloths, gift bags, cards. School supplies are cheaper at Walmart if you are buying just before school starts (or after school starts when they mark down) - but any other time of year Dollar Tree is the place to go! I got a pill cutter at Walmart for >$3 then saw one at Dollar Tree so I was sad.
Wow! Pill cutter for $3?! Idk I think thats still pretty good, up here (🇨🇦) the cheapest I've seen a pill cutter for was NOT at a dollar store ever but only the drug store for prob $7!! 😱 so yr Walmart price is still quite good! 👍
The biggest thing you need to watch for at Dollar Tree (especially as they go up to 1.25) is the quantities. Often the cost per ounce or other significant unit is higher. Toilet paper is a good example. Often the cost per square foot is more expensive at DT versus the regular grocery store sale prices (when bought in higher volumes). If you can shop at Walmart, this is even more significant. I've noticed the same with toothpaste, many OTC meds, paper towels, and ziplock bags. I would have to check, but suspect the same is true for Christmas wrap. Obviously quality is something to be aware of too as for items like foil, dish soap and paper towels you can end up needing to use more of a lower quality option. As a category, I like most cleaning products from DT and often find exceptional deals on one-off type products like dustpans, doormats and seasonal decorations. I would never recommend buying cell phone charging cables from DT. That would hold true for anything where a poorly constructed products could cost you much more than the purchase price.
😂😂The interludes crack me up. I'm a lucky duck. Our Dollar Tree is in the same parking lot as Walmart. I love DT for school supplies for sure! Happy New Year.💜
🍀I'm very sorry to hear about your thumb accident. I hope it's healing well. We must be so careful, and watch everything we do, and all that's around us to be safe.🌿
For containers, I like to upcycle wide short glass salsa jars, the clear plastic lidded tubs that lunch meats come in, and the small single serving lidded plastic bowls from side dishes at fast food like KFC mashed potatoes and Taco Bell refried beans. These are very uniform convenient sizes to wash and reuse.
If you coupon, oral care, shampoo and conditioner, feminine care and cereal are all either free or super cheap at Walmart. This is buying name brand products. Couponing is using coupons, rebate apps and store deals. It’s not just clipping a coupon.
I like everything at Dollar Tree except the quality of pencils. Buy a small box to try first. Some of them the wood and lead are so soft they fall apart trying to sharpen them. The Rubbermaid containers are awesome and identical to the more expensive Walmart ones.
Thank you so much for sharing your dollar tree video! I’m quarantined and haven’t been able to get out to see all the new items. I just can’t wait to craft/DIY with these new items. I make dollar Tree videos too. Mostly Craft/DYI but also some recipes and shopping trip hauls. Until I can get back out for more supplies I will love vicariously through you! Thank you for sharing!
I love both stores for specific things and agree that they're oftentimes the best bargains around. I'd be curious to see you comparison shop at Dollar General, too.
Smaller packaging can be more economical as it can help prevent waste. As I live alone I sometimes cannot finish consuming an item before before it goes bad.
Now I want a burger. 😳 😂 DT is so underrated. Some have frozen sections with a lot of decent foods and their deserts and candy so much cheaper and from great brands too!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the gift bags so much at the Dollar Tree that I didn't even think about wrapping paper. The gift bags at Walmart are bland and super boring compared to the great gift bags at Dollar Tree.
I haven't finished the video yet but I'm ADD I got to comment on a couple of things their bag selection is amazing! Beautiful bags and so cheap. Also please do not buy the off brand plastic containers for your food. Especially if you want to carry something in your purse like salad dressing. It does leak and sometimes you cannot get the container lid to stay on.
Yes! I moved into an apartment last week and on Saturday purchased several good quality kitchen utensils for $14ish dollars from Dollar Tree. All the aisles were raided here in Chicago but still managed to find some fantastic deals. Thanks, as always for your insights PP
I've noticed it getting more scarce lately, but when I need some chicken or beef broth I could usually find a box (one quart worth) at the Dollar Tree. The best price at Walmart was about $2.50 per box - different brand, but the same basic thing. Even at $1.25 now, the Dollar Tree still has the best price outside of making my own (which I do when I have the necessary bones to make the stock).
I use better than bouillon ( at Walmart) (1)8 oz jar makes 38 cups of bouillon for $3.97… way cheaper than buying the boxes and way easier to store and many flavors of bouillon to choose from 😊
At my Giant in No Va I got 32 oz Swanson broth on sale for $1.88. Fantastic price. Personally, I am very particular regarding country of origin when it comes to my food. That is my choice. I tend to buy tried and true products and those thatI know where they come from, (Not meaning I won't buy store brands) Not sure the other guys are truthful! My paranoia The point is...we're retired. Fixed incomes. Careful to shop sales. Do get some things at DT, just no food. I freeze leftovers I may have thrown out in the past. Bits of beef go in the freezer and will all become veg beef soup. The same for chicken. My food saver is my best friend!
One downside with Dollar Tree is their return policy. You can't get a refund like you can at Walmart. Supposedly you can do an exchange but I took some holiday themed items back to my Dollar Tree a couple of weeks before Christmas and they refused to make an exchange even though I had the receipt and it said right on the receipt that their policy is to exchange for another item. This was the first time I had ever tried an exchange because usually a dollar is not a big deal but with prices going up I don't want to shop somewhere that won't honor their policy or give a refund. They are taking advantage of people and I'm not a Dollar Tree fan anymore!
I buy my Goya sazon there it is cheaper than the grocery store and I also buy my reading glasses there. Believe this or not when I asked my eye doctor what was the difference between the glasses at Dollar Tree v.s. those I was getting from him, he said there is no difference. 🤓
Same thing with medications they have triple anabiotic for a dollar, psoriasis cream for a dollar, 40 count Tylenol for a dollar, cold medicines and 10 and 20 count for a dollar, the nasal spray that they carry also is equivalent to the equate version of nasal spray at Walmart which runs $3.95 versus the dollar tree which is only a dollar. I’ve tried mini nasal sprays and the only one that works for me is the equate version and it actually is the same one basically that the dollar tree carries and I buy it in bulk at the dollar tree when I see them I get them all. The Tylenol may be a little bit more expensive side a dollar for 40 but I think it’s a great value
The ‘old’ Princess is back! Your ‘money mgt’ videos are great but these product comparison videos were your bread and butter at one time. If you have access to Tractor Supply or Murdock s (or both like I do) those would be great stores to do some product comparisons. I love you more than words can say❤️!
the dollar store is great for shipping supplies as well. I found that Sams has some really great prices for bulk packages of padded mailing envelopes. The dollar store near me usually has cat treats at a fraction of the cost as Walmart so I always stock up for my fur babies when I see treats being sold there.
I used to go in Walmart and Dollar Tree pretty often, but then I decided to try really hard not to buy items from China. I would guess that Dollar Tree is 60% Chinese import, even for certain foods as well as medicines. I even found body wash, hot sauce, and candles from China there, which surprised me. So if that's an issue for folks, they might want to check labels. I also found that I can find office supplies, weirdly enough, pretty cheap at the local Goodwill store, though the selection varies. I found some really nice binders for a buck apiece, as well as sticky notes. I don't know if thrift stores are now expanding their inventories to offer more types of items, but it has been worth it to me to check them out.
We are also trying to avoid buying products made in China. We like to support our own economy and companies that produce their products in the good 'ol U.S.A.!
Actually, a surprising amount of items I've purchased at Dollar Tree were made in the US or Canada. I bought a broom and other cleaning supplies. Might be worth double checking!
@@anna_reads862 I always check the labels now. I've seen some things that were made in China switch over to Thailand or Brazil or somewhere else. These are strange times when it comes to product sourcing, so yes, it's good to check, even if it takes a bit longer to do the shopping. They don't always make it easy to figure out. And the "distributed by" labels are always suspect for me.
@@dodieodie498 Distributed by..... I just assume Made in China..... Unless Dollar Tree switched sourcing in the last couple of months, all their freeze dried fruit comes from China.
I got some triple anti bacterial cream at Dollar Tree, my cut got infected. It kept getting worse. I finally bought some Neosporin somewhere else and it cleared right up. Just be careful, maybe I got a bad tube idk 🤷🏻♂️
I use the triple antibiotic cream from DT all the time. It's one of my favorite DT buys. I foster kittens and have new scratches ever day. I've put the DT antibiotic cream on even when a scratch is red and angry, and it clears right up.
I know people are raving about DT on here, which is great for them. For me personally, my experience is that most of their items are either low quality or very low quantity. The candy is often stale, the plates and cups chip easily or lose their luster after one wash, the pens are crap to write with, paper towels are thin and rip in the wrong places. I could go on and on but most of their stuff is junk. However I do buy their toilet paper because it's 4 rolls for a dollar. Is it quality? No, but have you seen how much toilet paper costs?!? Some ok or good items there IMO: gift bags, laundry detergent, holiday/party decorations, toothpaste, to go containers
@@lincolnlane6763 I agree a lot of the DT stuff is pure junk. I don’t shop for any essentials there. It’s fine for things like gift bags or miscellaneous/seasonal junk but otherwise no way.
I just LOVED when you took a bite out of that burger along with the music. I haven't eaten anything all day today and after seeing that I just got hungry. WOOF WOOF from Tiny (sick) Toby to Rocky.
I would add soda and snacks at Dollar Tree. Diet coke is like $2.50 at the store. Stars and Stripes is 99 cents for 2.75 liters at dollar tree. Shasta is 2.5 liters at .99 cents
I tried the Wal Mart brand of Gain and it works very well. I usually make my own detergent because a) it's even less expensive and b) it's one of the only plastic free options for detergents. But, I was in a pinch and had to get something.
That food bit is awkward for me...lol. thank you for including this price comparison for both stores I did not realize that in certain areas Walmart was cheaper!!
My plates cups glasses bowls utensils ect all came from the dollar tree. A added bonus is that it was a fraction of the cost of a full set because my family is small and i didn't need all the extra a set included. If something gets broken its not the end of the world.
@@Poppi_Weasel well Poppy until you know for certain how about you just not print stuff it possibly is not true. I buy all my glassware at Dollar Tree as well
Love this! Walmart and Dollar tree are my favorites too! Im right there with you on the shampoo, and guess what, my favorite cereal is the Great value Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds too! I have about 17 boxes of cereal in my stockpile, the Great Value Honey bunches of Oats and then Food Lion had a deal of the same cereal, but a bit smaller box for 95 cents. Great video!
I have had a DT for 20 years. I call my house the home that Dollar Tree built ( we bought it we didn't build it ) because of the money we saved over time. The recent upcharge makes fewer bags but it's just neat leaving the store with ten bags for $28 bucks! No other store gives you that feeling. I need the bags now too since I have 2 doo doo machine cats. LOL for years I took my own bags eh, and now I get theirs for the litter box. Dollar tree never liked me bringing my own bags in anyway, perhaps shoplifting happened too much when folks did that? They'd actually freak. So does a store called Fresh for Less which is a cross between a Costco and a Piggly Wiggly. Ironically my DT stuff is on my front room floor ( I HAVE A SITTN PARLOR! I'm southern and I HAVE A SITTN PARLOR! yay ) lol and the cats are busy sniffing the dollar tree stuff and playing slide on the slider bags lol. Later, they will be benefitting from the bags I get there. Sorry landfill...cat poop happens. Peace Out.
Food porn 😂😂 Some of my favorite items to buy at dollar tree are the floss picks, medical supplies, cards, paper tissue, post it notes, facial tissues, and kitchen utensils. I don’t shop at Walmart, but I go to Aldi and target. I save big at target with my red card debit. I save 5% on my whole purchase, I can coupon there really well, and I love the cartwheels on items I buy the most. I also go to sams club for laundry detergent, toilet paper, and my splurge, downy unstoppables. I like my laundry to smell pretty. I also buy lunchables there for my kids(they’re a dollar a piece) and a few other grocery items. One thing about buying in bulk is, sometimes it’s NOT always cheaper. You really have to look and compare prices to save.
Amber you have probably already answered this question a dozen times and I apologize in advance. I have a very bad memory issue. Is your book out in print? I absolutely love the feel of a good book in my hands. Also, I love to purchase the books of the authors I know, so either way, I’m buying it….I keep forgetting lol seriously 😐 lol anyway, I just wanted to wait to buy until I knew if it’s in print. I can’t wait to read it. After spending the last 55 years living recklessly, I figured I’d better pull it together. I am currently teaching myself how to budget CORRECTLY instead of Jenni budgeting. I am also trying to get a grip on my grocery budget. NOT that I eat like King Kong…..I just eat low carb, basically keto and meat is so expensive in Camp Verde because we have only ONE grocery store unless I can find a ride to Cottonwood. So, keto is not cheap. HOWEVER I went from $400.00 a month to $150.00 . I’m breaking my arm patting myself on the back lol
Way to go! You’re doing awesome! A sheet of paper with to-do’s layed right next to the kitchen sink is wonderful! And fulfilling to mark things off! Sometimes our brains are just too crowded. 😉
I REALLY enjoyed this video, and of course, knowing the food porn is coming, please know that you made me laugh again...hysterically! I feel this was a very fair video, and I am still learning things from you...and I am JUST 57 years young. I DO like Dollar Tree's cards, medical supplies, hygeine products. Since I am disabled, and don't drive, not able to take public transportation and live alone, I do most of my buying online, and yes, both stores have websites, and i use both. I hope the thumb is still healing well, and I love the Rocky Cams! Love you both! ❤👍🐾
I saw a article back in 2007 where Ultrabrite toothpaste 88 cents whiten teeth better then the leading name brand that was selling for over $5.00. Washing powder although not as convenient cleans better and is less expensive per wash. I dissolve it first in some hot water in a small bucket then add to clothes.
My absolute favorite dollar tree item is sunglasses! I also love to get my gift bags and when I was married and trying to conceive, their pregnancy tests were a great deal. I remember Clark Howard mentioning the drano at dollar tree being a great deal. I haven't tried their brand of Drano though. I haven't really looked at the medicine aisle. I will make sure to check that out next time🙂
And the Dollar Tree sunglasses that fit over prescription reading glasses are great! Used to pay $20-25 elsewhere, even WM, so when DT had them, I picked up several pair to place in cars & etc.
Extra tip, buy the clear plastic coat bag at the dollar store, unzip it and place all your Christmas wrap, tape, bows, Scissors all in it, zip it up, hang it in the corner of your closet, when you need it next year the gift wrap will be fresh to use
Super tip
Oh! I'm doing this!
Running to dollar tree now!!! Thanks for the tip !! 🏃🏽♀️
This is genius!!!! The comment section usually has the most helpful tips, more so than the actual video…so I let the video run, and read the comments
That is a great Idea =)
The cards at Dollar Tree are really nice and they have a better selection than most other stores.
I buy gift bags and balloons there too. So much cheaper than walmart
Yes they are great for cards and all kinds of party supplies!
The cards at DT are Hallmark.
4:20 The question is whether these are original brands or replicas?
@@lenny108, they are Hallmark. The cards are, anyway. I used to work as a vendor for Hallmark, maintaining cards at retail locations(not Hallmark stores), and I worked in DT. Dollar Tree's cards are Hallmark brand, usually.

I loved your comment about brushing your teeth twice a day and then adding; "At least the ones you want to keep!" You got a belly laugh out of me. Loved it!
Hi, just an FYI, most DT have just recently raised their prices to $1.25 due to inflation. Still a lot of great deals there for that price.
Shopped at my local WV DT today, and our stuff is still $1. For now....
Yes all the ones in my area are $1.25
$1.25 for me too but it was bound to happen
Mine, $1. I wouldn't say 'most', but I'm sure it's coming. They say that ours is going to be mostly $1 but with an aisle of Dollar Tree Plus. I guess we'll see.
So far, our Dollar 🌲 stores in Myrtle Beach, SC are still $1.00/item.
@@lynnsimard9810 Canada has higher MFG standards for OTC drugs and a wayy more stringent review process. The stuff from Canada is very safe!

I think I remember when VO5 was a "regular" or "fancy" brand in the '80s. They had all the same ads. It was "Alberto VO5." I've been saying for years they have the same great formula even now!
Yes, Alberto VO5 has been around for a long time. I can remember using it when I was in high school in the late 50s and 60s
Yrs ago consumer reports listed vo5 conditioner as the best.
Yes, I remember when I was a kid Alberto VO5 commercials were on all the time, they made it seem very classy and top shelf.
Suave and VO5 are ph balanced which are the best for your hair for the price.
That’s right, Alberto VO5. I remember it was categorized as a high end brand in Puerto Rico. They used to have a tube of oil that kept my hair in top condition.
Another plus to shopping for meds at Dollar Tree is that many of the off brands are made in the USA.
I have yet to find made in the US meds.at the dollar tree. Its all made in China. Please name the US stuff. I would be willing to try it.i have found some packaged in the US, manufactured in china.

Aldi is another great place to save money. They also have fairly good prices on organic produce, and other things like EVOO.

My go-to Dollar Tree items: Chunk White Tuna (Bumble Bee Brand), coffee filters, cleaning supplies, gift bags/tissue, greeting cards, shampoo/conditioner. Walmart: canned vegetables (50cents each) and french bread (1.00). I think Walmart is entirely overpriced on produce and meat!

I have never seen Walmarts generic replacement of Gain. I will definitely be watching for it. Thanks.
I agree about Walmart. The hassle factor. It's a lack of efficiency. I individualize shopping lists also.
Wanted to let you know, I just watched a video where you were making chicken soup. The comments are turned off, so here you go, lol. Hey, great video..ASDA a UK supermarket is owned by Walmart, so I can relate your advice. Thanks. I have got my grocery spend down to $32.00 per month.
Stocking up I learned some canned veggies at Walmart are cheaper than dollar store, worth checking out. 😉
Walmarts canned vegetables are only 50 cents. I remember the days could get them 3 and 4 for a $1..
Some might consider me elderly. 😉
I am, however, remembering those long ago days of 3/$1.00 like it was only 40 years ago.
I remember the days you could get 10 can goods for 1.00
Not here they went up to 57 cents per can now and I believe some are 62 cents each also. They used to be 50 cents. The 3 or 4/$1 days are long gone folks.
All of our local Dollar Trees are now $1.25.
(Sorry about the thumb but I truly relate to the dog being worth it.
I bought the kitchen scissors from DT and I have used then for YEARS still work great!
Ours doesn’t allow cash payments at self serve. Nice huh?
@@crazydiamond5366 apparently they are more interested in serving the needs of their management rather than the needs of their customers.
I order groceries from my Walmart for pickup weekly. They are often sold out of muliple items on my list that I have to approve substitions for.
I try to avoid the do it yourself check out. They don't pay me wages to check myself out. However do sometimes places a order online because it helps employ more people.
Our Walmart just remodeled. They removed all cashier checkout and now just have self check
DT’s over reading glasses sunglasses are a great buy also!

Also digital thermometers are good too, I usually just buy another when they quit working. ✝️💝

We must be so careful, and watch everything we do, and all that's around us to be safe.🌿
One of my absolutely favorite items is the brand name silicone spatula for $1 at Dollar Tree. I use multiple daily. Also, the body powder is great.

The Tylenol may be a little bit more expensive side a dollar for 40 but I think it’s a great value

the dollar store is great for shipping supplies as well. I found that Sams has some really great prices for bulk packages of padded mailing envelopes. The dollar store near me usually has cat treats at a fraction of the cost as Walmart so I always stock up for my fur babies when I see treats being sold there.
I love the paring knives with 4 in a package. They are so sharp and stay sharp.
Good idea. Our local Salvation Army has wonderful items. Bought a loveseat in perfect vondition for $45. Delivery, $25.

I tried the Wal Mart brand of Gain and it works very well. I usually make my own detergent because a) it's even less expensive and b) it's one of the only plastic free options for detergents. But, I was in a pinch and had to get something.
Exactly what is the name of the Walmart brand “Gain Laundry Detergent”? My hubby usually goes, so I will need a specific name. Lol Thank you!
@@RhodeToPrepping Great Value Original Clean, Ultimate Fresh. It's in a smallish green bottle.
Thank you Prepper Princess, I bought stocks of Dollar Tree and Walmart this week.
That food bit is awkward for me...lol. thank you for including this price comparison for both stores I did not realize that in certain areas Walmart was cheaper!!
Also I love their coffee mugs their bowls and their plates you can get an entire dinnerware set for less there as well
My plates cups glasses bowls utensils ect all came from the dollar tree. A added bonus is that it was a fraction of the cost of a full set because my family is small and i didn't need all the extra a set included. If something gets broken its not the end of the world.
@@Poppi_Weasel well Poppy until you know for certain how about you just not print stuff it possibly is not true. I buy all my glassware at Dollar Tree as well
@@rexcarebear4701 well it is true, so there’s that 🙄
@@Sh-ih5vk Agree! Only thing better is picking up ironstone pieces needed at thrift store on half price day. Or same if love vintage look & feel.
We got a nice set of Christmas dinner plates at DT
I love the Dollar Tree! It's also the store I take my ten-year-old daughter to when she wants to buy toys or crafts. Thanks for this video.
Be careful to rotate cereal because it goes stale pretty quick. I definitely know from experience of stockpiling myself.
@@lvncsr6166 Thats where I work!
Peace Out.
Food porn 😂😂
Some of my favorite items to buy at dollar tree are the floss picks, medical supplies, cards, paper tissue, post it notes, facial tissues, and kitchen utensils.
Yea for Arkansas. I am from Arkansas. Thank you for sharing.
Ouch!! Hope your thumb recovers and heals completely.
Love your videos very much
I REALLY enjoyed this video, and of course, knowing the food porn is coming, please know that you made me laugh again...hysterically! ❤👍🐾
Wow Emma I never realized how much of a godsend online shopping must be for the disabled, I wish you all the best.
@@daleadmire1451 Thank you Dale. It can be a challenge, but at least I have my own home, paid for, and for that I feel fortunate.
I just recently discovered you and love your videos and tips. You demonstrate how you can live well and happy without a ton of spending.
Thank you for another great video. Any plans for cooking videos in the future?
Yes there will be more
I saw a article back in 2007 where Ultrabrite toothpaste 88 cents whiten teeth better then the leading name brand that was selling for over $5.00.
@@dorothydemaree7544 me too. I always get a few extra pairs!
Do you mean Draino? Like the drain cleaner ?
@@mizzmiami3242 yes, draino.
