    I think the value of sealed heavy base set packs will go down since people will now be more skeptical to buy loose packs…

    The issue is one is weighed the other is a for sure telling of what is inside. There is no spectrum for that to compare on.

      @CollectPokemon  6 месяцев назад

      @stellarguy1667 the spectrum narrows down, if you know what's in the pack, the only question becomes is it gonna be a PSA 8 , 9 or 10.

      @@CollectPokemon But as a sealed pack and knowing what card it is the issue of what grade is moot. Its sealed. Does it cap value, yes but only as what a PSA 10 may bring at that time. What it also does is it absolute caps the values of each pack where the card is known. So question is, does a unsearched pack price drop or increase with this technological capability being presumed to have been used. I would say long term, it drastically has a negative impact. Ten years from now guys selling heavy will either have to be highly regarded as honest or who would buy? And IF I knew what card was in a pack, why risk spending X hoping for a 10 or 8 or whatever I would hope to get when I could go buy it for X. Making said sealed pack again capped totally to graded values. I watched a zard 1st edtion get pulled for low $$$$ 2 months ago. The up side was very nice for the buyer. Ten years from now should this become a bonafide thing, that will not happen.

      @stellarguy1667 it's gonna be interesting to see how the market reacts to it, I think the CT scan is here to stay

  • @simpsondraws
    @simpsondraws 6 месяцев назад +1

    These arn't really comparable. Pack weight is verifiable at least, and isn't an issue with sealed boxes. If you want to find legit vintage packs, it was possible before. Box breaks were a great way to do this for the average person but now with CT scanning even that could be ruined. At the moment these CT scans are pretty expensive from what i've seen but thats just because theres no competition yet. It doesnt make sense to scan modern stuff because the cost/effort to value ratio isn't there but doesnt mean it will always be that way, and that doesnt apply to people with their own machines. If people were willing to meticulously open packs, take out the rares and reseal them; they will absolutely sit there and scan 100s or 1000s of boxes and packs of pokemon cards

  • @avenger1212
    @avenger1212 6 месяцев назад +1

    If you've seen the video, the CT can identify what holo is in the pack on vintage packs. I agree the unweighted and light packs will not be affected. But, the "heavy" packs will have a suspicion that it's a cheaper holo or the seller would say what's in it or would have kept/opened it. So, again there's a new level of distrust in the market for heavy packs where a person is likely to expect lesser holos, which could potentially drive heavy packs down if it's not declared what's in it. That's also assuming CT scanning becomes as accessible as weighing packs. Only time will tell how much this matters. In an honest world, this would only be a positive, and would allow people to keep packs sealed while also knowing they have a particular card. But someone always figures out how to leverage tech to scam people.

  • @loved8110
    @loved8110 6 месяцев назад +2

    This is just completely incorrect. The market will then assume that 90%+ of the product will actually be CT scanned, the ones that are worth opening will be opened and the ones not worth opening will be sold. Thus, people won't be able to trust the fact of whether a box or pack has not been CT scanned or not. They will assume someone CT scanned it, saw it was garbage, and decided to sell it. This will bring down the value of all boxes and packs. And yes, they can scan an entire sealed box.

    It's a bad time to be holding loose vintage booster packs

    Terrifying stuff, what’s going to stop someone finding a CT scan of a base set BB showing a charizard and selling their booster box with the “fake” scan for a premium ?? Time to stop opening product that’s not from Pokémon Center 😅

    Uncted Pack should be treated lika a mint raw copy since you have the garantee which card it is unlike the heavy pack

    • @CollectPokemon
      @CollectPokemon  6 месяцев назад +1

      yup that's the one with umbreon, it's between a psa 8/9 depending on the set. Some sets hv a higher % of 10

    How can you ever proved that your pack or BB has never been scanned? That is the issue I have, this becomes a trust issue.

    • @CollectPokemon
      @CollectPokemon  6 месяцев назад

      @gustavozambrana116 only if you grab it off pokemon center, directly from distribution, or a trusted shop

      @@CollectPokemon exactly. As an investor, with many BBs, how can I ever prove to some is never being scanned ? Even, if it is a whole sealed cased eventually, they will scanned that too. Will see where things go.

  • @z2010ag
    @z2010ag 6 месяцев назад

    I have issue with the comment that this only applies to vintage because of the cost of the BB compared to scanning. Eventually the modern sets now WILL be vintage some day. People stock up on modern sealed product in the hopes of a long term hold. CT scanning greatly diminishes this approach as it stands. As of now how can a future buyer of product bought today be guaranteed the booster boxes bought today are not scanned? As of now they can't really. So that is the issue for people looking to buy product today in the hopes of selling in the future.
    And what will pokemon do about it. If they are short sighted, nothing. They dont want reselling of product anyways so why do they care what happens to their product as an investment vehicle. They want you to buy as much as you can NOW to appeal to their parent company shareholder quarterly profits.
    If they see the long term they should do this because the lack of sealed product carrying over to the next generation will cause the trading card Enterprise to fizzle away with the lack of connection to previous generation of cards

    imo vintage pokemon cards will likely drop as they are weightable. They could ct heavy packs and only open eg, cted charizard to grade and sell back those cted heavy packs as heavy packs(so in hand heavy packs could drop in value as it has been filtered for chaser cards) . Promo cards could go up in value as ct doesnt affect it.

    Cha-Ching, already cashed in the check hanh?, or you just made the video for the hell of it, without researching the entire topic. CT scans not only with 100% accuracy tell the chase card but also as of now define how well it’s centered for grading purposes.
    Not sure how you thought this was good content to put out and being first time on your channel, can’t fathom that all of your subs are from this hobby, otherwise anybody with half a mind in this hobby, be it sports. TCG or other card collectible can see the awful ramifications of this coming sooner than later.
    Comparing weighing to scanning is like comparing apples to oranges.

    Always respect you as a mature collector with good intention sharing to new collectors. However I have to say this video is a failure, I will delete it if I were you.
    Many people already comment and any adult with basic logics and Econ 101 of demand/supply can see the problem in your logic, I don’t want to talk more. The biggest problem of this video though is you didn’t mention any downside or risk of this hobby. Yes you could share the positive or neutral side of it, however the fact that you didnt mention any negative side of this news makes the video and your image not humane, not looking at a problem from perspective of an average person. I’m spending time to comment here only because I like your channel. To attract adult viewers (not just kids) I’d suggest you always start from people’s common perspective, instead of just sharing your ideas which in this case is surprisingly biased

      you are absolutely right, I barely brush on the negative side, instead of taking this down, I will make a video talking and the medium to long term negative effect of this as it becomes more accessible.
