It’s also the lack of the convenience store employees enforcing purchasing limits. So many times would watch the locals walk out of Lawson with 5 sealed boxes and a line of people behind them.
It’s completely fine, I’m more than willing to wait for battle partners / journey together to get printed to oblivion, even if that takes 6-12 months. Not going to participate in the current craziness, there’s more to life than Pokemon and I can just wait for all this hype to die down
Pokemon needs to fix this mess. They have to address the scalping issue. They have to work with the distributors and partners they have. They need to take a more active role. It is very clear that their current approach is failing.
151 was a little less than this expansion at launch. I wish people could get product for MSRP, but the people who view pokemon as an investment break the hobby from a price perspective.
If everyone I investing who will be the consumer in the future. The prices just show how much money people have wrapped up in it but there has to be an end consumer
So many people don't realize how many hands a Japanese Pokemon product passes through before reaching the final consumer in the US. Great video explaining the process
No, but really, I'm sure it must be stressful, but I sure love watching your POV on the whole market situation, instead of just mindless openings without a soul. Thank you for your content, man!
I've been a collector for quite some time and it all comes and goes in waves. This is a moment in time, a rough one, but a moment. I learned to be patient, be okay with what I have and able to get, and take deep breaths and move on. it's rough... And it gets ugly, but it's important to remember not to give in to fomo and to take deep breaths. It's a moment, as all things are.
Pokemon center finally jumping on the price craze and stinging us with short prints and rushing product they can’t commit to keeping prices low and honest.
Ya, I don't understand how it works in Japan, either. Like... do convenience stores order directly from Pokémon? This was a while back but I saw a YT channel of a lady (Japan native) who had a regular job and she was able to get cases of some set at wholesale and I was thinking "Regular people can just buy directly from wholesale there?" I don't think she ever explained it and while she spoke in pretty good English, I'm sure some details got lost in translation. I do know they pay attention to what's going on with the market here to judge what to flip their product at. Like any capitalist country, they wanna max out their profits, too. Since the dollar is so strong against the yen right now, I'm sure they'd much rather sell to the states vs locally. The currency exchange at the moment automatically gives them an extra 50% profit by exporting their product. Man, that was long winded. Basically, like Danny put it, it's not as cut and dry as some believe it to be.
No way will I pay these prices for a new product when it is being scalped and manipulated. I would rather pay same amount for Sun & Moon sealed goodness.
havent opened ANY japanese packs other than ones that were sent to me for free.. but i do find excitement buying the singles especially the Tera Festival ones of the eeveelutions
@Tricksandchaos yeah people will buy it. Doesnt have to be you that does. There are ways to getting it much cheaper directly from japan or just going for english set for 140ish range.
I'm on the same boat, make a video yesterday to explain that to people and yet there are some anger (that I understand) while explaining to everyone that a reprint in on the way ahah! It's a very special period at the moment. Good luck on your side !
I might fall off pokemon trading card in general lately is been hard to find product is just not fun like it was before covid slowly just not even trying to get stuff stores sold out LGs stores charging way over msrp and offering like 50 percent or 60 of trade like is just hard
People are sleeping on all illustration rares. Artwork on them are all phenomenal and they’re so hard to grade 10. So many are shooting through the roof right now with price
Folk making ad revenue hand over fist on RUclips just giving the stuff away, price goes up, it’s easy. The people selling the stuff can ask what they want. Not a jab, just how it is 🎉
Lotta folks think they'll ride out the hype and wait til the reprints and such buuuut by that time, rocket is gonna be coming out, the hype will never die, gotta get ahead of the wave to ride it properly, I've never caught a wave that I was positioned behind. think about it... Shouts out surfing Pikachu for knowing whats up!

It won't...people said the same about 151...

If people think its crazy now, i think to gonna get worse when team rocket is released
I think the demand will be nuts!
I've been thinking about that a lot. The rest of the foreseeable future is looking bleak for the market.
@@SuparNerd And by "market" I think we at least partially mean parents and kids, right? :)
I am looking forward to seeing what the next set after Rocket will be. Masterballs are cool and all, but I miss IR's.
Couldn't agree more
Hypes only get more intense leading upto 30th anniv‼️💥🎉
151 was a little less than this expansion at launch. I wish people could get product for MSRP, but the people who view pokemon as an investment break the hobby from a price perspective.
151 was under msrp for 6 months after release and then msrp for another 3-6 months. We are in uncharted territory right now

"The problem with our community is thinking that only our opinion is correct." This is Nostalgia Nomics, at his core hahahah

This is the best way to approach things and I couldn’t agree more
Thank you for not making the problem worse. I ordered electric ⚡️ breaker from your store at decent price. 🙏🏼
I really enjoyed this video. I was under the impression that these JPN print distributer middlemen were just being greedy because they could
Can’t wait to see prismatic prices at a reasonable rate
Pokemon center finally jumping on the price craze and stinging us with short prints and rushing product they can’t commit to keeping prices low and honest.
So lack of English cards is driving up Japanese demand, TPCi just keeps up with fumble after fumble as of late.
I love hearing these back stories, how you sold your collection to get married
😂 same

Fun fact alot of ppl are buying on credit so they gonna learn how interest rates work
Its going to be a wild rollercoaster ride this year and into next with 30th anniversary!
Don't let the stupidity ruin the fun trades, good deals and awesome friends you make because of pokemon
Sakuras is one of the good ones. They are part of my small circle of trustworthy sellers.
local shop had the preorder for battle partners at 120 dollars.
havent opened ANY japanese packs other than ones that were sent to me for free.. but i do find excitement buying the singles especially the Tera Festival ones of the eeveelutions
yeah battle partners being sold for 90+ is insane.
Yet it’s all going to sell 😅
@Tricksandchaos yeah people will buy it. Doesnt have to be you that does. There are ways to getting it much cheaper directly from japan or just going for english set for 140ish range.
:( I wish the prices would go to normal. I can't even afford the japanese ones right now with the demand pokemon gets.
Japanese singles 1 year after release are so cheap! I just filled up some binder pages with AR and SAR for nothing, a few bucks a card.
Danny, pkmn japan have made another announcement about stock and further waves. They don't mess around either expect large volumes
Bring back the "Punch and Run" move for Quagsire
I appreciated hearing a little of your story :)
This craze will be all year long… so many incredible sets coming
started a month ago to collect, really bad timing haha
You and everyone else which is why we are in this situation
Love your insider content, keep up the great work!!!

Hopefully have any advice on selling expanded card bulk cause my LGS turned it away from me even a BW scoop up 😢
You don’t have your own tcgp account?
Or just hit up full grip games. I’m sure they would love some GLC stuff
I might fall off pokemon trading card in general lately is been hard to find product is just not fun like it was before covid slowly just not even trying to get stuff stores sold out LGs stores charging way over msrp and offering like 50 percent or 60 of trade like is just hard
Danny can we see you're Dragon ball TCG collection😁
I thought you said you don’t invest in pokemon? Sold your collection twice? Run two pokemon stores? Sounds like an investor to me.
yeah this holier than thou youtubers are hypocrites
lol that has nothing to do with being an investor. Stop crying
Got to remember he sells it he don't keep it @@MegaLolcade
I love this hobby because of all the amazing people I've gotten to meet along the way :)
The best piece of the collection!
It's been so bad I started to buy baseball cards again after 20yrs lol😅 cause I can actually get those.
Never been happier to be out of the hobby. It was a fun run….✌🏼
I hope when things settle down you can find your fun again
@ you’re a good dude, thanks Danny! 🙌🏼
6:35 yet you want Pokemon to print Prismatic to oblivion, hypocrite.
People are sleeping on all illustration rares. Artwork on them are all phenomenal and they’re so hard to grade 10. So many are shooting through the roof right now with price
Scalpers
Great discussion!

😂😵💫😵
Battle Partner is 5400 yens, and free Promo...thast about $35 USD.......USA want to sell for $100, and Pomo for another $25 additional? So greed!
Japanese resellers are setting the market.
Did you even watch the video?

Lets goood danny thank you for your videos!

So scary right now when your just trying to master sets for your child?? Cmon pokemon 😔
Lol
1st
1st!
Your "first" was just a reprint, the original run is over.
Like with everything else in America, eggs, gas and Pokemon cards.... I blame Trump.👎
You must be dumb as shit because it was Biden who was in charge for the past 4 years
I'll pray for you.
To be honest scalping began in 2021 under biden but its not a political thing...
@mikeymendenhall that's what a mega would say.
L take @brainazzie4538 blame Biden who was in office duh
