The Cadillac? The Haircut? The Entitlement? The Suburbs? The Sass? Over the hedge definitely created a stereotype that depicted Karens long before they were a thing
Tbf, there was always some variation of a Karen stereotype that was around. I can remember when I was younger in the early 2000's, people used to stereotype soccer moms as a form of Karen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Karens were always a thing, you sweet innocent child.
IDK if it's a Cadillac tbh but it made me think the same
Or before they became more common nowadays.
@@AmicusAdastraIt's a Lincoln Navigator.
To be fair, she had her food stolen , car destroyed, had her house and neighborhood raided, and she’s extremely dedicated to her job. She just got driven to insanity from having her home raided by animals and the possible stress from her job.
Yep. Rewatching this movie as an adult had me realize: Is she a Karen? Yes. Was she reacting accordingly to the events that were happening around her? Also yes.
@@tulin_enjoyer yeah re-watching this when I’m older I can definitely see where she’s coming from. However, unlike her are you don’t want to attack or have little critters killed. Especially since their home was mostly destroyed so that I can have a house.
@@tulin_enjoyer I mean she got rich by their forest getting destroyed
Its like how everyone treated Ken like he was crazy for wanting to get rid of something he was ALLERGIC TO
I always felt mildly bad for her, while she is a Karen at least she isn't harassing baristas, also you can see how perfect the neighbourhood looked before the animals came , also she almost got killed several times by said animals, but she should be nicer and not assault the police officers
1. Purchasing an illegal product
2. Animal cruelty
3. Resisting
4. Assaulting an officer
She won't be seeing freedom anytime soon.
Definitely Karen Material.
She has female privilege. She probably won't be in jail for long.
Play devils advocate here. I can see where she’s coming from. I wouldn’t want little critters still in my food either however, I would have handle it way better then her.
Let’s say, a lifetime of prison, perhaps for her
@@MC_Plush_Films.2005this was in 2006 and she’s probably still there to this day.
Every homeowner association member is a Karen. This is too accurate.
I can confirm
That’s no lie.
Seriously, why homeowners associations exist I'll never know.
Except her. She’s justified considering the hell they put her through.

When you do break it down, the plot of Over the Hedge would be what happens when an ecosystem is destabilized and the animals have to adapt. They resort to raiding the humans for food.
@@SpiderkillersInc So technically…
Over The Hedge is one of the few most *woke* movies made back then when that’s we need today.
Jokes aside, Over The Hedge was a criminally underrated movie.

thank goodness there aren't people who act like this in real life.

To be fair... Gladys is totally justified in being pissed off at that point. She spent lots of money on gadgets and contraptions to keep animals out and yet she woke up to her house infested with them
I can't believe I really forgot about this movie, it was one of my childhood favorites 😭
I even had a toy of Stella, she sprayed water lmao I refused to belive she was a skunk and gaslighted myself into believing she was a squirrel

I liked Heather because her voice made me feel things. To think that she was voiced by Avril Lavigne makes me smile.
@@okjeffy6581 WAIT WHAT?!? Avril voiced her?! I never knew, that's amazing 😍
okay but I'm not going to pretend she wasn't right for this... having your home broken into, property vandalized, groceries stolen, having to fight every day just to be taken seriously... it'd drive anyone crazy. Gladys didn't get to where she was by not being Sharp
Not to mention, as she at one point observed, the animals can potentially pose a public- health problem, as wild animals can carry God knows how many diseases.
She knowingly purchased an illegal animal trapping gadget
okay but i also feel like a lot of people miss that the forest wasn't like that before the animals hibernated--and that happens in real life, areas where animals have lived forever gets cut down for homes, and then people complain about seeing animals where animals are supposed to be. not saying people shouldn't have a place to live, but it makes no sense to cut down an animal's home and then be upset when you see animals where their home should be.
@@mrcritical6751 she only did that as a last resort. when your house is overrun by pests it can drive you insane

(Also Texas has a LOT of libertarians so the Texas part could have been a libertarian move as well as an American one)
To be honest near the end of the movie her anger was becoming more or less justified. I mean who wouldn’t be freaked out at a bunch of wild animals in your house stealing your food especially a skunk? And who wouldn’t be absolutely livid at those same animals driving a truck right into your house?
Not gonna lie i was kind of on her side at the end
We drove our trucks right into the animals’ houses though :(
