    Those Red Beets look good! My favorite way of eating them is sauteed in real butter.
    You boil it steak them until semi soft. Then cut them into rounds. While you're doing that, best up your skillet with however much REAL BUTTER, not the fake stuff, you want. Put the beets in & let them cook. Store them around a couple times so that they all cook evenly. They're fine when a fork slides through easily to pick them up out of skillet. ENJOY!

    Breaks my heart to see all those beet greens going to waste, I love them as much as spinach. Sauté with a little garlic and olive oil, 2 minutes they’re done.. What about giving some to the chickens?

    When I was 6-7, I am 70 now, my dad had an old standard tranny pickup. He was fattening out a couple pigs so he grew his own corn. He needed a driver like your mom and he chose me. He taught me to drive between the rows while he threw the ears in the back. He would turn the truck around and we would start again. He was pretty proud of me and himself for teaching me!!

    I have heard this word for a long time and wanted to look it up. I typed in "kerkerbits" but it is *cucurbits* :
    What veggies are cucurbits?
    What are cucurbits? Cucumber relatives that taste good and ...
    Several of the most popular vegetables grown in the home garden belong to the cucumber family (Cucurbitaceae). Commonly grouped together and called the cucurbits, they include summer squash, zucchini, winter squash, mirliton, pumpkin, gourd, cucuzza, watermelon, cantaloupe, cushaw, luffa and, of course, cucumbers.
    Those dang farmers and their high fallutin words!!
    If this keeps up we gonna get in a real donnybrook over this! Wait there is one more term. *Cole Crops*
    Broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are known as cole crops. Several other vegetables belong to this group, including Brussels sprouts, Chinese cabbage, and kohlrabi, but these are considered minor vegetables. Cole crops are cool season vegetables that grow best at temperatures between 60 F and 68F.

    Here in the UK what you call red beets,we call beetroot. Mostly it's pickled in vinegar but I like my beetroot sweet with added sugar. My late mother in law always added sugar to her vinegar mix. Other people like them boiled. Sliced,crinkle cut and baby whole beetroot (wee ones) Regards from Scotland ❤

    • @tsugima6317
      @tsugima6317 Год назад +3

      My family always did them sweet/sour with only a small amount of sugar. Three families got together to do them and bottled enough for all. Sliced, whole baby beets, and shredded beets that were used for beet soup. No recipes, just knowing by experience how much of what to put in.

The make some balloons that have ay eye printed on them and some streamers ribbons that your tie up to keep the birds out. They don't like the balloons or the robins flattering around. We used to use them to keep birds and other critters out of our corn peas and tomatoes. Good luck and stay cool and hydrated.

We always loved those last minute orders for cucumbers from our wholesaler. Usually the call would be something like, hey can we get 20 bushels of cukes? We would say sure, and then the next thing would be okay have them here in an hour. All hands on deck to the cucumber patch then lol!
