  • Debra Hill was only in her twenties when she produced the classic film "Halloween." She also produced other John Carpenter hits like "The Fog" and "Escape from New York". Later, Debra brought us such favorites as "Adventures in Babysitting" and the powerful Robin Williams classic, "The Fisher King." This is the inspiring story of a woman who broke through Hollywood's "Glass Ceiling" before most folks had even heard of the term, paving the way for others to follow in her footsteps. As Jamie Lee Curtis has said, "Halloween" wouldn't be "Halloween" without Debra Hill!"

So sad to hear about her cancer and how it led to the amputation of her leg. I would love to hear more about her final days and how she gutted it out. How she was able to produce World Trade Center for Oliver Stone. I appreciate what this woman did and I agree she should be part of every curriculum in film studies.

Thank you, Amor. I'm sure Debra would appreciate your kind words. Up almost to the end Debra, who loved to cook, was having family and friends over for get togethers. She was a remarkable woman!

    Dear Brian,
Sorry for the out of the blue message. I have read your book on Debra Hill (more than once) and I wanted to let you know that I am in development for a documentary about the amazing woman. I would love to talk with you about the possibility of an interview if you were interested?
I hope we can correspond further.

Glad to see your message. For the life of me, I'll never understand why she doesn't get more credit. Like many of us, she grew up fascinated by the movies she saw on TV. Unlike most of us though, she simply didn't see any reason why she shouldn't jump into the business she loved. As you said, "What a lady!"

@@baileyellard1 Thanks, I remember seeing her talking about being the hand and shorter Michael In one shot and I felt like I could listen to her talk for hours plus and Jamie Lee talks so highly of her like she was a big sister...she produced one of my favs Adventures in babysitting, she deserved more time I heard she also donated her body to science!💐👏🏽

Thanks so much, Paul. I admired Debra so much because she was just like the rest of us...loved watching the same horror movies on TV as a kid. But, unlike the rest of us, she had the guts to pursue it as a career. She really was remarkable.
