All the comments saying this pistol won't sell well are kind of funny to me because the OG TRP, which is also still in production, has sold incredibly well since the 90's and if it didn't Springfield would have scrapped it a long time ago. It's a great pistol, and there is still a massive market for classicly styled 1911s. Although the red dot cut guns are obviously the way of the future but the 1911 and other classic designs I will give a pass to, but they should and probably will come out with a red dot option. What I did notice and haven't seen a lot of talk about is that SIG recently refreshed their 1911 lineup with the X-Full and they have a commander on the way, but those guns have a native RMSC cut which I think is pretty cool. Was never interested in a SIG 1911 before, but I think the RMSC cut is the perfect fit for the 1911. My first 1911 was a blued Colt Government Model in .45 that I later sent to Heirloom Precision to have Jason Burton work his magic on. My second was a Springfield Loaded MC Operator with the OD green frame and pachmayr grips the only thing I've ever done to it was add an X300 and later changed the sites to Trijicon HDs and it runs like a top. I'd really like a 9mm Commander and a 10mm fullsize to round out the 1911 selection.
Been a TRP fan a long time, but have to admit, they’re priced too high when DW is right there and just better fit on average. Springfield won’t have a problem selling them though, definitely popular, but I’d wait till they drop down in the $1300 range on sale for my budget preference 😅
I really like the Emissary but since I'm in CA I'll have to "settle" for the TRP. Ain't gonna lie, that Regular Guy black, on black, on black look is really damn cool.
Not sure on the mim. It’s does not really concern most. The prodigy fills the Springfield double stack space currently. Bill barrels are often found in 9mm guns. Not always found in 45’s.
One thing I don't like is you need a hex wrench to field strip the pistol. To me, a gun should be able to be field stripped without any tools. Beautiful gun though.
In the end, I chose to put a deposit on the TRP firearm over the Dan Wesson due to its warranty. For a high-quality pistol, a five-year warranty seems insufficient. The lifetime warranty offered by SA was a significant factor in my decision. Additionally, I reside in California, where there are severe restrictions.
Would love to see the old sandpaper grips and traditional roll marks to pay homage to one of the greats. That with an optic cut would be worth it at that price imo. Great vid though!

This year, Stealth Arms announced that soon they will have a 2011/double stack 1911, the Platypus, for order.... Not sure why Springfield did not include the TRP include on the AOS release.

@@Rubelesswhile I agree that Springfield is not on the level of Dan Wesson I’ve had experience with the old model TRP and it was very fine quality…would I trade it for my Specialist, no but it was still a fine piece of machinery
If I'm buying one it's the full rail operator. If they only made it in 9mm. But the new Embissory 4.25 with full rail blackout is nice but for a single stack its priced to high. But great for smaller hands vs. The prodigy.

I Feel like a lot of people won't get why would you buy a single stack "traditional" 1911 in 2024 but it's like buying a muscle car or a nice watch. it's a second kinda cool thing, it's not a 100% practical for all situations but it's not supposed to be. Have fun carry what you find cool.
I have a trp armory kote and a full rail trp the bushing barrel with fixed sights makes a better gun for social use but no optic cut is silly for that price in 2024. Especially when I can get a Dan and Wesson specialist w optic cut for similar money.

There's nothing wrong with MIM if done properly. HK's (and others) use them very reliably. Yeah, I like a "fine" pistol that's the "expression of the gunmaker's art" and I have a few Wilsons and one Nighthawk. But one is going to pay for that.
@rdrgear I have one identical to the one in this video. I'm just short of 5,000 rounds (damn that's a lot of .45 acp😂) and have yet to have any issues from the mim parts. 🤷♂️
I have three TRP's Armory-kote, full rail, and stainless. All three have sat in the safe for the last five years. They're great guns. But, cannot hold a candle to the double stack 1911 offerings available now. These days, if a new option comes out that isn't optic cut, it has markedly lower sales over those which do offer an optic cut. Coming with only two magazines is another misstep. This is a huge missed opportunity by Springfield.
The double stack is only a 9mm offering. 1911 purists who look for gods caliber understand they don’t have many options in the double stack market. 1911’s have been coming with 2 eight round mags for decades.
@@rdrgear I understand what you mean.
