In southern parts like Helsinki, the snowy period usually lasts for a maximum of 3 weeks before it turns into ice and slush. The whole process then repeats but the snow we get after December is not as beautiful because there's a dirty and icey layer of snow under the fresh snow

@@UnclePutte For sure, but at least where I live (the prairies), it's a very dry cold, so much easier to deal with. You don't get the 'chill to the bones' that winter gives people near water. The coastal regions of Canada (where I have also lived at times), feels so much colder even though the temp rarely gets below -20C.
