When you, or anyone else there, clean out your chicken boxes like that, please wear a mask. In 2016 I cleaned out our boxes and such too, in the enclosed coop, and I ended up with bacterial pneumonia. I had it for 3 months before they figured out what combination of meds to give me, and it took another 3 months to get over it. They didn't think my breathing/lung capacity would return to normal, but with a lot of work, it got there. Six months dealing with that. I should have been hospitalized, but I told them no. I had a home and animals I still had to take care of, sick as I was. I really don't want you, Jen, or the kids to go through what I did. Please take care of yourselves..... Love your show....🙏
I want to thank you for taking care of my order so fast. Us being stationed overseas its just wonderful we can order from you. Useally gets up here in the Netherlands in a week. Super service!
At about the 45 parallel in Northern MI. 51° yesterday and sunny. About the same today. It sure does make me anxious to get out to my tunnel and get started..
It feels like when a so-called friend just ghosts, ya. Kinda hurts not knowing why y'all just stopped all videos. Hope life is going well and you all are healthy and safe.
I started my peppers, tomatoes and eggplants at the very beginning of February and they are looking so good. No freezes in the forecast where I live, and if it wasn't going to thunderstorm for three days, I'd plant out this weekend. I love this time of year.
I really enjoy your videos. They remind me of the good old days on the farm I grew up on. My dream is now to do a primitive homestead that focuses primarily on the mass propagation and production of native wild edibles... and bring back things like the native Ribe species and other native food and medicine sources that have come too close to extinction. Do you know of anyone who is doing this?
Good morning Zac, I grew up in the north so I guess I don't know what it would be like to have nice weather so early. It sure would be nice to start planting early. I live in zone 5a so last frost date is the middle of May. I so enjoy watching you and your family. God bless all of you.
Hey Zach, we are in zone 6a and officially have a new earlier last frost date of May 3 but I will be watching the weather before I put out tomatoes and peppers! Cold hardy plants will go out in April! All I have started so far are my flowers that take forever to germinate and grow! I am looking forward to planting more next week my 10 week starts! Looks like you made quick work of your cleanup, I left a lot in the ground so I am hoping for a good rain before I attempt to pull out the sunflower and other large stump plants! At 65 I need all the help the Lord will send me! God bless you, your family and gardening season! 🤗
I use Hoss seed starting trays also. They are an investment. They are great quality and my seedlings flourished in them last year. I add a light layer of Perilite over the top of my soil to retain moisture for the seedlings. Also, I bottom water my seedlings, when the bottom tray gets dry, I pour water in the bottom tray and the soil wicks the water up. One tip I’d like to share for starting seedlings is that they need lots of natural light, as in a greenhouse. If a greenhouse is not an option, winter sowing in a clear tub, in full direct sunlight, works also.
I’ve started several things. I need a greenhouse…. But I’ll keep using my kitchen , oh my! I’m excited to start this spring. Hoping I get good results!
I can't find my kitchen table for seeds and planting supplies! Tomorrow is the day for me for onions, celery, parsley, cilantro, dill, kale, peppers and beets. Zone 6b, mid-Kentucky.
Have you ever heard the old wives tale of…. When it thunders in February, expect snow in May? A couple old timers have warned, me of this. I am in northern Okla., and yes, we had thunder the first part of Feb.
I have my seed starting shelf up and set up with lights. Gonna invest in heat mats this year, as this will be my first time to start peppers. I normally buy them from farmers market. It was 68° here in S. Missouri today and I am loving it!!❤ Can't wait to start my lil seeds.😁 Happy you were able to fix your greenhouse Zac. 😊
My plants have been doing well in temps down to 36 so far with the help of seed mats and a series of 100 watt bulbs in my hoop green house. However, in two days we have a low of 26. What cha think would you be confident in a temp of 26? Should I bring them in? I don't have a good space heater.
I have been looking for your second RUclips channel where you and your wife speak more openly. Can you please let me know what it’s called so that I can subscribe to it. Thank you so much!
Most excited to plant lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers! I will be planting a lot of mint to keep the rodents away from our garden! Last year they tore it up!
@@grammiekaren1343 yea same, best bet is don’t give them a place to nest and keep the ground clean from food dropping like tomatoes and fruits or anything you are growing that they will eat. If they have food they will want to stay.
@@grammiekaren1343 yea! I just made an outdoor run area completely enclosed with hardware cloth and a poly roof which is on top of a cement pad so the rats can’t burrow under. I leave the chickens in during the day with their automatic feeder I made open. when I get home I open the run and close their feeder to let them free range for a few hours before they go to bed and open their feeder back up once their run is closed. I leave their food in the enclosed run so the rats don’t go in the coop incase they ever did get in the run which I doubt will happen now.
You need an actual garden marker, not a permanent sharpie. Garden markers are uv resistant and won't fade. Amazon is probably the easiest place to find one. I use them and they work! Hope this helps!

TFS! Blessings to you my friend. Have a blessed week. ✝🙏🏼💕
I better get my butt moving here in WNC. I fall behind every year because I don't have a place to start seeds. Happy Gardening to you all.
In Canada. Got a foot of snow still. My father always said we get nine months of winter and three months of poor sleighing.
My greenhouse was 118 today at noon on cen🎉real time zone. Spring has arrived

I made a jig for those flats. One time hole.

I just started Winter Sowing Sheryl last couple of years with great success. Would love a greenhouse like you made.
I'm so jealous. You can access your beds, and mine are still under snow.

I love seed starting time as well ❤ Thank you
Where'd ya go? Hope everything is ok

So good to see everyone’s excitement for starting seeds! Where do you get your seeds?
We tried starting some cabbage. It died. We're going to go buy some starts hopefully. Probably too late to start over with seeds at this point.
💯 🎉❤🎉🎉🎉🎉congratulations ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Stivers, what is the night time low that would make you bring in your tender starts from the greenhouse? Thanks!

Was just thinking same thing. Came look see what's going on.
@sandradee8880 I just hope it's just busy with starting garden and their other business
😢 I'm not a fan of short videos. And we don't use any social media. All we have is youtube. So I really hope they start back up soon.
Zack , I don’t know what size of cattle panel to buy for my garden to make an arch for my luffa’s! Please help!
Just wondering are you going to go by the new last spring frost dates? Ours was the end of May now its the end of April.
How high do you put your heater on ?
I was just wondering........we went from zone 6b to 7a here in Albany Kentucky. Did your zone change?
I have been looking for your second RUclips channel where you and your wife speak more openly. Can you please let me know what it’s called so that I can subscribe to it. Thank you so much!
Most excited to plant lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers! I will be planting a lot of mint to keep the rodents away from our garden! Last year they tore it up!
Good luck! I have a ton of mint growing and the rats don’t care at all, they nest right near it
Well poo, I had high hopes!

We free range our chickens so hard to get rid of food source. They love the chicken coop!

Where do you get your plant labels? Everything I've tried fades outside, even with permanent markers.
You need an actual garden marker, not a permanent sharpie. Garden markers are uv resistant and won't fade. Amazon is probably the easiest place to find one. I use them and they work! Hope this helps!
Dirt is what you wash off of your clothes. You garden in soil which has nutrition for your plants. Not dirt which is void of such nutrition.
