  • 1966 news report on some of the first women hired to work at Tulsa gas station, at 41st and Memorial . Bob Cordray was Owner / Manager of the DX service station. Women talk about what it's like to work in traditional male-dominated jobs. Good look at biases that existed in 1960s. 16mm archive film
Women interviewed are Vickie Caron (sp?) and Roberta Hedges
KOTV reporter was Bob Brown who would go on to work for ABC's 20/20.

"...as seriously as can be expected of a woman." SERIOUSLY???? Thank God I wasn't part of that generation!

The way you pass blanket judgement on "that generation" over one statement uttered by one person tells me that you wouldn't be welcomed in ANY generation.

I was about to comment on the same thing...when anyone asks the definition of "misogeny", send them this link!!! And the grace both of these women showed speaks volumes about them both...hope they went on to have wildly happy and successful lives. As Darwin tried to teach us all...adaptation is the key to survival.

This video is so cool. It makes me think about filming things today so 100 years after I’m gone people can look back and watch.

Now days we are on our own to put gas in our cars. My kids don't have a clue since they never knew of a time when there was such a thing as a full service gas station.

Omg...when I was 16 yrs old. (Long time ago) I worked for the car dealership on the traffic circle. Part time receptionist. That DX station mgr worked there, I think he was the new car sales manager. When I told my parents the things that came out of his mouth and were said to me, I had to quit after my Dad had a chat with him. 🤯

Do you know exactly what year this is? Very interesting... his comment about how seriously women can take their work shocked me. I guess I really had no idea how women were expected to behave back then. Really appreciate your videos!

So many things wrong with this, not least of which is the ridiculous "Playboy Bunny" non-sequitor! "A whole generation of motorists may be putting bunnies in their tanks... and liking it." What in the wide world of motor-sports is that supposed to mean? It almost sounds like a crass innuendo or euphemism... but it doesn't quite work that way, either.
Still, KOTV has a nice ride. Mmm... just look at that all-white paint job.

@C Moore Yeah, so's yer old man!
      (This is an era-appropriate insult)
But seriously, you're responding to a 10 year-old comment. And I don't think you know what butthurt whining looks like, because that's not it.
