I love watching salvage hunters,My late Dad was an antique dealer/furniture restorer,My late Dad was so much like Drew, when he was bidding on something in the auction,he would just look over @ the auctioneer & raise his eyebrows! That was many years ago.Like Drew says his job is great, you never know what your likely to find.Looking forward to the new series coming soon...
All the comments criticising him for making a profit. I count at least 6 staff he has (and a dog), hes on the road constantly burning fuel and running up costs. Why is it that a dealer making a profit is seen as robbing but we happily trot down to Tesco every day and never question the £2.9 Billion profit they made last year. Its a commercial enterprise, the foundation of how western economies functions.
DREW Your honesty and loving your BUSINESS appreciate you. I watch you day and night. I admire this HISTORICAL information and the greenness of your COUNTRY. I wish you continued success with health. Greetings from turkey
Once in a while i look for this clip just to see those gothic chairs again
Stood at the pearly gates:
God: 'You remember those chairs......what did you pay for them? An what did you sell them at'
Drew: 'Oh shit'
That’s the difference between Mike Wolfe of American Pickers and Drew. If Wolfe knows a piece is rare and worth a lot, he’ll let the owner know it and he’ll pay up. He even goes so far as to pay far more than what the owner is asking. Drew on the other will fleece anyone as long as his margins are high.
Not even. You should watch early seasons of American pickers, they fleeces people. Besides the prices are agreed upon prior to being taped. Every bit you see is added drama
that's a bit harsh! He has large overheads and staff!!
@@derykhawkins2199 Don’t we all, but it’s no excuse to fleece people.
@@chastitywhore6141 Post the clips where you imagine that he is "fleecing" people. Thanks.
Drew does that too. That aside what people do when the camera is on says nothing about what they do when it's off.
Gorgeous chairs. Can't believe I haven't seen copies of this unique style.
Congrats on the channel 😁 visited the shop in Conwy in April and have a little ex-department store display box. Can't wait to see some cool exclusive content in the future. Loving your work.
“Full on” gothic.
I love that phrase.
"Every single inch of them is *perfection* ..it doesn't get much better"
Funny that
And says they're falling to bits in the same breath
Love this programme especially Rebbeca.
I would
I sure hope that guy meant hundreds of thousands because I can’t imagine a piece of pottery from 600BC would only be worth a few hundred £’s. As for the chair Drew ripped that guy off. If you included the restoration costs he still was looking at £2500 profit. Sometimes I think they really undercut people very badly but who knows it’s tv lol
Chris Dooley a real job for you! Try it!! Only bad comments! Sitting doing nothing behind you pc!! Need to see the whole picture!! People with ideas and commercial talents should be a
Appreciated instead of being criticized!!
@@christianegastmans4263 is that youuu, Drew? 😂
And what about wages, insurance, fuel and other expenses that has got to come out of the profit. Some people just don't understand.
How does he rip them off? The seller needs to do his due diligence too. If it was some doddery old lady, sure. In this case? No.
@@anthonywalker7240 It's also up to the seller to know what he is selling.
Such fantastic finds and to find out that the last item was Etruscan that is pardon my French bloody fantastic
These Pugin chairs are magnificent. Pugin was so innovative and groundbreaking. Bugatti and Rohlfs were clearly influenced by Pugin.
The Sussex chair is fascinating. It seems so delicate with it's ultra-slender turnings. It looks ready to float away.....like a dandelion
Really interesting!!!!!
Excellent
Them Pugin chairs, wow. He paid a decent price, considering the damage. He never forces people into a deal, any deal is an agreement between 2 vendors.Part of his value is his knowledge, the restoration team, and the market he places the items in,as well as researching the provenance of the pieces. All of that is value in itself.
Drew is in the business of making money😉
Some things are just priceless
I love this
programma
He’s a shark.
Sly old vicar - he knew the chairs were damaged because they had string holding them together !
The last item vase from the tuscans in 600bc the valuer when asked says its worth hundreds then it cuts off let me finish of what he originally said, "its worth hundreds of thousands" what a buy Drew
When I find a piece which is exceptional, I call it one of my orphans. Either you are passionate about furniture, or you just see it as utilitarian. Luckily, for a few of us we consider each find a Masterpiece!
Drew is a rip off merchant, but that's what's given him a net worth of 8 million. It's a business at the end of the day. They're getting money from him and they've agreed. That's it 🤷🏻♂️
He is what’s known in the trade, as a right wanker.!
Your final sentence completely contradicts your first. Try harder.
Imagine getting paid for doing something you would do for free
yeah... i love old stuff because the quality was something else entirely compared to todays throw away garbage.
That mans greedy!
"Is it possible to marry a chair?" hahahaha
My husband says that I never met a chair I didn't like. Yes there is. Lol
Conwy Drew Pritchard = probably the best (M)antiques store in the UK !
Price was much lower than I thought for the chair 😬.. 1000 each was better .. economic depression will see even lower prices . Sadly ☹️
To be at a Church and hear him say no to $1,200 on chairs worth $5,000 is disgusting. One of the nicest pairs ever bought, and pairs make the value go up, and he tells him the awful condition. It's offensive. So humble a price at $1,200 when the original offer was the lowball $1,000 and the Church asks only a little more, and refusing that just is cringeworthy.
There is no way the public will ever find out what he actually got for the church chairs. About as much chance of that as him sending a extra check to the church to reflect what he got for it !
Well I know what something is worth doesn't mean you can sit on your investment and wait for the right buyer to pay that for it.
Yes disgusting don't like him never trust a bloke with beady eyes he's trying to hide them eyes now with big glasses there was an episode when he went to a country house and the owner had loads of circus mirrors you could see the greed in his face 800 \1000 \1200 each the owner turned around and said not for sale as he lets them out for charity events you should have seen his beady little face
@@alfienelson6345 Hi, interesting. I do admire Drew for his employing so many people and teaching the public so much about the job. I do cringeworthy things in the world also and do appreciate being told so I'm aware of what others think without them being my judge and jury. That way I learn how other people see it also.
Some of the sales advice from Drew has been priceless. Especially since here in the US people tend to keep all their Sellers and Suppliers a big secret and it can be very competitive for us in sales. Drew is certainly a better salesman and employer than I am. I just thought the $200 more for the chairs was a humble ask by the Church. I do odd things slso in life and working in sales though. Sometimes I am in very bad need for cash. Kudos to Drew overall for his hard work and I have no way of knowing if some pressure was on him that week to fulfill Payroll or help an employee with a medical need.
I'm also very careful about picking on the way I think someone looks because to a certain point that is out of our control. We are blessed with what we receive and make the most of it in the looks department IMHO. Smiles!
@@daringmore6892 Consider this he is on TV getting paid thousands just to be there alone plus all the publicity it will bring that money cant buy (30 second TV adverts would cost tens of thousands.) He is no doubt a canny businessman but has a real lack of foresight here. I have seen dealers ask Drew £15.00 for 18th century chairs, thats fair enough between dealers but why he blatantly makes margins of over 100% on Churches, Schools and the General Public is not naive its greed.
So can T say that he bought those items too?
He needs to get a pair of specs that fit
The amount he paid for the Pugin chairs was a rip off even accounting for restoration he will still make about 3 grand.
Clive Sangster jealous? Do the job!!! It is a business you know!
Christiane GASTMANS haha I'll buy the chair,s of you for£1500 spend £200 for repairs.i have a buyer for them make £3000 and T smirking. lovely jubilee
Clive Sangster I agree with you. sent your friend Christians gastmans a message haha
It is up to the seller to determine the value and then negotiate a fair price.
Me gusta mucho el programa
Everything is special about them, would you accept £20 I’m taking all the risk
Hes a pirate ,I would not let him in the door .
"Hundreds" for an Etruscan cup? What?
This one is worth £600 not sure about these two. ''What do you think Tee?'' .. ''I think they're bloody heavy''...
Drew wanted to kiss the chair he professed he loves. It makes me wonder what he does with it when he is alone with it in his bedroom.😁
😂 I have to say I found that bit quite amusing! I did a mashup of salvage hunters which I think you might enjoy: ruclips.net/video/a8hdP75pzrI/видео.html
It is a work in progress... Drew's unhealthy obsession for chairs is definitely going into my mashup or another one! 😁
Steptoe and no Son
A DREW PIACCIONO LE SEDE PARTICOLARI ..SE AVESSI UNA SEDIA PARTICOLARE GNE LA DAREI 👍
Seller must be a mug selling a chair for £175 when they could be worth £1000
Drew is ok dealer it is besnes
I recommend him publicly apologizing and sending an additional cheque in to the churchman. It is ok to make a profit and necessary because he has rent to pay and employs several people but this was too much. If he had offered 50% more he still would have doubled his money...
Shame the narrator can’t mention to the poor bastards how much they are worth, before this little man comes in and offers them pennies.
@@garystewart6093 you would do the same if you were in the same buisness FFS
I think the church has a lot more to apoligize for than him
You are forgetting he cant sell them falling apart, not retail. So add a grand cost to repair and clean polish that level of quality
Churches scam their credulous parishioners every Sunday. Religion is a racket, a con game.
If you know what they are worth, and offer well below the value why isn’t that called scamming
He should marry a chair as he got caught playing away from home!
He's always got a cold.
Because hes a piss head, and so is his wife, now it's all fucked up and they aren't together anymore
@@seabassmcgee3367 please explain I am not aware of what you mentioned. I would love to know more.
@@hansmemling7605 they do a lot of drinking, he had an affair with a woman from the local pub, they got found out, there was a scuffle between Drew and the other woman's husband at the local pub, now they are on pub watch and Drew and his wife have split up
@@seabassmcgee3367 I had no idea, thanks for explaining. I always found Drew to be looking puffy, scruffy and tired. Now I know why, all the drinking.
Hans Memling. That's only the Half of it! There's A lot More - Just go and visit plus ask around to see how Popular he is¥
I can't believe how little these things fetch. A lot of my records are worth more than these items, and I don't really consider myself to be much of a collector. It doesn't make sense. Oh yeah, and this guy is a classic dealer/crook.
the last one ..... "in the hundreds "......FIND ANOTHER MATE ! .... pre roman !.... "museum piece".... .... $50,000+ if the chinese pay 51 million for a younger vase ....
The Etruscan party cup at the end of the clip? Don't let the Italian government see this video!!! Certainly trafficked art.
Wonder whether Drew has objectophilia?
It's his passion & knowledge for antiques that drives the popularity & successful appeal of his show....You can't fake that.
I love this programme but Drew winds me up, he could of paid the £1200 and still made a fortune after restoration but he goes on likes he’s doing them a favour adding a 50 on
But in their game, things are not highly predictable.......
You have no idea how much money he could have made.
he says there are badly damaged then say one of the best chairs he ever purchased hmmm
i can offer you $50 - rick from pawn star
Dude has some issues about chairs. Quite n odd duck.
Robbing a Clergy in the house of God. Shame on Drew
Can't steal from a thief. Send them some money if you feel so bad.
There's no way I can believe the insane high prices he pays for some "antiques" on Salvage Hunters show. The show became Unreal and boring for me cause of those beyond belief "bargain" Prices . Viewer From 🇸🇦
Doubt is not an argument, it's not a fact. Do you have either?
Seems like everything bought is "best I've ever bought". Somethings gotta be second place ? 😏
Drew's a thief, the seller's after seen the show Drew burned us
He's a business man FFS. You would do the exact same
All junk to me lol
All con man.. sad to see honest people being conned.
Arrogant with a a big ego. You can tell by his photo. His wife suits him.
Dont think there married anymore , know where you're coming from re arrogant.
how is a church allowed to sell historically important furniture, and below value.
What's so special about a church? Nothing. Believe in garbage and nonsense if you want, but don't expect special privileges for being a credulous desperate fool who is terrified of death.
Drew is a creep. He finds something fabulous, and immediately starts in with the "badly damaged" ploy. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him
Drew is literally a con man.
You don't have the integrity as "American Pickers", they wouldn't have took the guy the way you did.
taking advantage of people to make yourself rich does not make for a good person
Chalice probably isn't worth shit.
if you saw the thieving little weazel heading towards you ...slam the door and hide
Don't worry, your old Ikea 'furniture' is just not worth it.
Staged sorry
This show so fake! Like Drew would buy only a couple of things from every place😂😂😂
Can’t stand the bloke
I'm sure he gutted about that !!!
So why watch him? Are you okay?
Fucking horseshit, I mean. Why would anyone bother. I thought it was going to be oh a hundred thousand pounds here, three hundred and fifty thousand there, and these beauties are going to get me at least two and a half mil, but I'm being Conservative. They are likely to go for significantly more in todays market.
Pugin or no , they're the ugliest, clumsiest chairs I've ever seen.
