I'm glad to see that somebody didn't throw out things back in a day And somebody can buy it and make it new again and keep it or sell it for a profit and keep it for years to come I just love old furniture

The lives that have passed definitely inhabit that castle. The history and patina must be spectacular.

I feel for the current owner. How horrible it must feel to realize that you are the one that is going to have to let the family treasures go.

By the look on his face, you could tell that the owner (of the first home) was not happy (and sentimental) to let loose of cherished heirlooms that had been in his family's home for generations - but you have to let go and look forward, especially if you have quid in the pockets.........right!

Strange times when heirlooms have to be sold, dispersed to the four corners like they were never intended to be. Wonderful to buy such pieces though.

My beloved Mr Innes, who narrates, was using a peculiar tense (?). "It could have been worth..." What's up with that?

The tax law in England is perplexing. It is understandable that the govt needs taxes to fund all the social services but it doesn't make sense to tax these families into poverty. The govt and people bemoan the fact that their history / architecture (great houses) are falling into disrepair. But it doesn't take a genius to figure out why. People can't afford the inheritance tax. The gov't takes every penny from a person trying to hold on to their ancestral home and leaves nothing for the enormous upkeep that is needed. It's insane.

We don't have such a tax in Australia. It seems it was invented by accountants and solicitors to give them an endless supply of work.

I'm unable to summon the enthusiasm to enjoy experiencing the show in its entirety simply because I believe the star of the show to be one of the most dead eyed whiney egotistical 'pillocks' I've ever had to endure.
And I don't like pork pie caps either.
    Thank you for your time

Then make sure you don't watch his Classic cars series then - he really shines in his "pillockness" in that one.

Ironically, the describe it incorrectly as being Y shaped when Stevie WOnder can clearly see it's X shaped but oh well
