    I love those older knives. I was just telling BigJ yesterday one of his videos that my grandfather carried a scout knife for most of his life. He passed away in the mid 80's. We did a lot of work together and he was constantly using one of the tools. His philosophy was why carry just a knife when you can have a few extra tools. Back then more screws were straight slot, today phillips is needed. I carry a Leatherman on my belt everyday. The utility just can't be beat.

      @LastChanceKnives Doing this video, I was struck how we went simpler from the sportsman knife to the Scout knife. And today, we're moving back to the multi-blade/multi-tool. It makes sense, though, because we carry more stuff into the woods. Tents used to be tarps and string. Today, they're mechanical contraptions. 😊

    Awesome collection Mike. Interesting history. I will admit i don't own a true Victorinox SAK. The one i have is a cheap Chinese knock-off that my wife picked up at an estate sale. I didn't know it was a fake when i saw it in the pictures, oh well.
    I do have a vintage Colonial 4-blade camp knife. The can opener is very different from any of the one in your collect.
    Thanks for sharing your collection with us my friend. you folks have a wonderful evening. 🙏🏻👊🏻👍🏻
    I just sent you an email with photos of my Colonial “Scout” camp knife.

    Next video, “My Top 3 Knives for Wrestling a Shark”! Great collection. I love a scout/camp knife but, then again, I’m old enough to remember having one. Have a great evening!

      @Pocket_EDC I grew up in south Florida. I used to love to skin dive. 35 ft of the beach ⛱️ I'd see all these sharks swimming around. Sometimes, I'd aggravate them by pulling their tail or swimming beside them.🤪💪😁🙄

    A very interesting video. My edc is a SAK the past few years. The saw blade gets plenty of use. Your collection and knowledge are both very impressive

      @champtaylor8356 Man, a saw blade on a knife is a must-have for me. Also, a punch. It's hard to beat a SAK as a practical tool. Would you carry something like the Victorinox Trekker? 😊

    • @garytaylor8955
      @garytaylor8955 2 месяца назад

      Probably not my first choice. I do not like the main blade profile.

    • @rasputinscastle
      @rasputinscastle  2 месяца назад

      @@garytaylor8955 I agree, but it's a more robust camp option. I'll put mine in the pack as a camp tool. Thanks for the thought exchange. Interesting 👌☺️

    Good stuff brother!
    That Henkel and Wostenholm are some nice pieces.
    They all are tbh

    • @rasputinscastle
      @rasputinscastle  3 месяца назад +1

      @TimsSchoolOfFish The Henkels probably dates between 1910-1924. The Swiss Army Knife looked more like our TL-29 but with 4 blades. The flat blade was used to take down a Mauser rifle.
      To have a knife that has the original tool on it before they evolved to a cap lifter, I think, is so neat. 🤪 Thanks for visiting Tim.

    Question: if I sent you pictures of an old rusty knife we found could you identify it?
    I’d send it to you if that would help.
    The only knives I found that resemble the one we have dates back to 1700-French. The knife isn’t worth anything but we’re very curious about it considering where we found it.

      @allmine0131 Take good clear pictures of every side, pictures with the blades open, and shots of any marks. Send them to rasputinscastle@gmail.com. I'd be happy to help.

    • @rasputinscastle
      @rasputinscastle  3 месяца назад +1

      There's always something you would have done differently. As time goes by, your interest changes too. But my collection is a lot like a library. No matter what the subject, I can grab a knife on it. It's very satisfying, and I feel grateful to have it. It's not a million dollar collection, but it does me just fine. I'm really happy other folks like to see it. Thanks again, Terrill, for your support 🙏
