I'm so incredibly happy I found your channel! I used to read fantasy when I was younger, but for the past couple of years I've mostly focused on philosophy and classic literature like: Dostoevsky, Proust, Austen etc. After watching one of your videos I ordered Warbreaker, and absolutely fell in love with it!
Even though English is not my first language, I found it incredibly easy to read, and it feels like i'm just smoothly flowing through every page. I've already ordered the Stormlight Archive Trilogy Set and I'm looking forward to delve deeper into the Cosmere with your help. Thank you so much for your awesome videos!

Yess! Would love to see this book get back to the feel of Words of Radiance. That is one of my favorite books of all time and some of the more recent books have dragged a bit. We'll see. I've got a lot of faith in Sanderson's ability to use the pages to expand the world and build no intriguing story lines.

I'm very happy with the length. I can't get enough of this series. So far sanderson has been very good with earning his word counts. Sure Rythm of War has some pacing issues for most. But even in the slower parts, stuff still happens or gets explained. I've read some books where for 300 pages the plot goes nowhere and the main character just walks, gathers wood and hunts. Even the slower parts in stormlight are there for a reason.
The first time I read oathbringer I found it quite hard to keep going. Now that I've reread it I loved it. With the reread I'm not that plot driven and then I realise how much awesome stuff actually happens haha
491k words ftw! Will he ever hit 500k?

1:07 I just want to say I’m not intimidated by the size of the books although I agree I will need to reinforce my shelves 😂
Of all the authors who I follow their work the only one who I feel like probably writes and puts books out faster is Brian Herbert in the dune extended universe (I got too overwhelmed trying to keep up so I stopped reading his after the house trilogy

W00T, W00T, the hype for Stormlight 5 is REAL! 😋 I have the same opinion when it comes to bloated books/stories. As a dark fantasy author, I personally prefer stories that are more focused / condensed, that focuses more on the more important parts of a story. Like when it feels like there's always something interesting happening, whether that is cozy, action-packed or anything else. Here's hoping Sanderson has done that for Stormlight 5! 😄💙📚
P.S. I became an Edgedancer when I did the quiz! 😋✨️✨️✨️

I’m so excited for Wind and Truth! And I’m not worried about the word count at all.
His last draft is mostly to slim the book down and he usually cuts about 10%. This time he cut 42k words as well (before adding a few more interludes he hadn’t written yet).
Whether you like what he does with his huge books or not is of course up to you. I did very much like Rhythm of War, so I’m not worried.

I think alot of people have leveled that same complaint against stormlight book 4. In my mind though it was kind of a set up book that he made entertaining for us so he could move things in the right place for book 5. That is why in my opinion it feels a bit off, but at the end of the day it did its job well and still made it entertaining ( sorry for the ramble and lack of grammer am stoned )

I was thinking of Sanderson earlier today and whether to go the route of reading Mistborn or WOK first. WOK definitely appeals to me more but Mistborn is supposed to be a easier read. 🤔🤔
Slowly getting into fantasy. Have dune on my read pile at some point, but currently working through my 27 unread Stephen King books on my tbr list. With more to buy😅. It never ends.😂

    • @gracesull78756

idk if you mean starting sanderson in general or just between these, but after reading warbreaker first (imo one of the best intros and also one of my favs of his overall), i read WOK and started SA, only now reading mistborn after. def possible, the 1000+ page books are just more involved and likely harder to get used to. if you're more recently getting into fantasy, WOK might be better appreciated once you're more used to magic systems and worldbuilding, but if you're interested enough it's possible either way! have to say, i started more interested in stormlight than mistborn, kinda thinking of it as reading his backlog/more of the cosmere, but on book 3 now and mistborn has been amazing in its own right as well

  • @urty24
    @urty24 Месяц назад

I'm partially excited b/c I love Sanderson but this is the most wary I've ever been for one of his releases. I think the first 2 books were amazing but Warbreaker was a step down and I thought Rhythm of War was just bad (it was my least favorite Cosmere book). Part of me thinks that this series just got too large and too complicated and it got away from him but I really hope he sticks the landing for the first half. Fingers crossed.

Maybe that was the issue, altho michael kramer is one of the best narrators.

WOT lulls are almost unbearable for me (see the Fires of Heaven - the circus saga). Whereas in the Stormlight Archive, at least im not rolling my eyes as often.

3:20 You nailed it. Sanderson can do no wrong. People will read as many words as he writes. This will be a test of sorts... Sanderson loves writing TONS of words, which is his style, and if you like that great. But his extreme success and fame may inflate his ego to the point that no one checks and balances him properly in editing.
For my part, I hope to be a fraction as talented and successful as B.S. some day. My first fantasy novel clocked in at 111K words and is very focused. The 3 other books in the series will expand the world, characters, and plot incredibly, but I hope to stay as laser focused and fast-paced (overall) as possible.
