That car was stopped in turn 1, for almost 2 minutes before the Delta wing hit him. Should of been a caution well before the delta wing came along

Turn 1, high speed cars, car stopped in a blind spot and.... no move...
plus bad communication in the Deltawing team (spotter-driver)
one entire lap to inform your driver, unbelievable, "I did not hear" lol
imo race control thought the PC was about to restart quickly after a car reset...

Yeah, I have to believe that one stalled car on the track is not necessarily cause for full-course caution. It seems that this was one of the many challenges that drivers and teams must endure in any race. Unbelievable bad luck that the driver never heard the communication. I would definitely want to hear a confirmation from the driver in that situation. It was disappointing to see for sure, as the 'Wing was running a great race, and they had JUST aired an interview with Mr. Panoz!!!!! Ugh!!!! Not sure how the PC car ended up stopped right on the race line - we didn't get to see that. Usually a car in that situation can responsibly get to the outside.

+Jacob Frey "one stalled car on the track is not necessarily cause for full-course caution."
Edit: 31 cars passed the stopped car in turn 1 before the Deltawing crashed. That's completely outrageous considering where the car was stopped. Starts @15:30
Turn 1 at Daytona is a difficult corner when there isn't a car parked right in the center of the track. If the car tried to start up 3-4 times with no luck, there absolutely should have been a full-course caution. You have to consider the safety of the drivers here. Everybody was very fortunate to get out of this one without major injury, but this accident should have been avoided entirely with either a full-course caution or a virtual safety car.

+Jacob Frey Here's the thing though...at around 2h45 into this video...a PC car goes off through the super speedway at the bus-stop...and that draws a FCC...and he wasnt even in the racing line...let alone coming into one of the toughest turns on the track. So I feel they def should have thrown the yellow sooner then they did...was really rooting for the DW...good to see it have some success though.

+Nate Franklin well if 31 managed to pass that car than how DW driver din't see or know about that. He might had target fixation and subconsciously steered this car into the back of the PC.

31 cars passed the #8, some barely missing a collision, before the Deltawing crashed into it. Unbelievable that no full course yellow was thrown.

How in the name of God did they not bring out the satey car around four hours in, just before that Deltawing collided with the PC car sitting there for about 3 minutes. The marshalling was beyond atrocious and incredibly dangerous. Really feel for the Panoz team.

I wasn't expecting the Deltawing to do this good but I was actually hoping that the Deltawing would actually score a podium win. I felt REALLY bad for the team once that wreck happened.

Also how many cautions is that caused by PC cars spinning and stalling, something like four in a row? Do they not have starter motors?

  • @Treetop64
    @Treetop64 8 лет назад +3

    > Spinning the wheels while on the jacks, "My foot was on the clutch!"
    > Smacks into a stationary car while the rest of the field was able to avoid it, while his chief is warning him about it all the way around the lap before he got there, "I didn't hear you on the radio!"
I suspect Meyrick's gonna be looking for another drive soon...

+Treetop64 Assuming they bring him in for sebring, he is definitely going to have to show improvements. I don't even think he was halfway through his stint and 2 major mistakes. But theyre definitely should've been a FCC for that PC.

Hahaha.. and just after old mate got done saying to 'keep an eye out on the Delta wing', when really it was the Delta wing who needed to keep an eye out for parked cars..

Looks like the M6 is a watered-down version of the BMW DTM.

What is wrong with Meyrick? Not only the crash incident, but the spinning wheels on jacks on pit road? "My foot was on the clutch." (was the other foot on the brake?) Cost them a drive thru penalty, then crashes into a parked car with a huge empty space to his right. smh!

  • @MetalMJ

So with the second 'caution' you threw out the safety car despite the fact the car was still moving and well down off the track out of harm's way.
For the third one you left a car in the middle of the track in the middle of a very fast corner, in the fading light, until someone eventually smashed into the back of him and had a massive accident.
IMSA you seriously, seriously need to review when you do and don't need safety car intervention, I cannot begin to imagine what the justification behind these judgement calls is...
