- This Squier Classic Vibe takes me back to the very first guitar that made me fall in love with guitars. It's all about that stripe.

Cool Squire Mustang Mike, mine was a Fender Tele Deluxe played on as a kid, still waiting,Cheers!Happy fathers day,Grumpy!
In my case.... it was an Electric Guitar in the Blue Chip Stamp Catalog. (I knew we couldn't afford to "BUY" one anywhere). It was an "S-Style" with a two tone sunburst, Wiggle Stick, rocker switches for the dual pick-ups (I think it was 2 pick ups!)...and my parents got me this guitar for Christmas ....I think this was in 1967 or 68. It got me into a few bands over the next few years & I could put it down....locked in my room for hours & hours playing & learning the songs of the day. The normal stuff of the day plus Grand Funk Railroad, Cream, Hendrix and some Classic stuff.... House of the Rising Sun was always a favorite. I haven't been able to find it & don't remember the Brand Name.... but it gave me a very good start in the beginnings of my Guitar playing which continues to this day. Later I did grab a used Fender Mustang for a while. Stripped the finish off to bare wood and refinished with a clear coat. It was pretty cool.
That Squier sounds really good. I'm always impressed with the Classic Vibe series.
You may get a chuckle out of this. I was 13 and wanted to play drums in the school band. I asked my folks to get me a drum kit for Christmas. Well, come Christmas morning, I came downstairs to find not a set of drums, but a Sears Silvertone acoustic guitar! (that told me what they thought about the drum idea!) I played that high actioned beast until my fingers literally bled! I saved all the money I made from mowing lawns for a while and bought a used Guild (I think) copy of a Les Paul Custom Black Beauty for around $50, and I was off and running!
Hey Mike...nice guitar. Reminds of my friend Tommy's guitar back in 1979. He had a Mustang in the lighter blue of the day and it was the first time I'd ever been that close to a real Fender. I'm sure it was a 60s model, a family hand-me-down. For me that first guitar that made me want to play was the Goldtop that Alan Wilson played at Woodstock. It looked bright yellow when the lights hit it right and I was blinded. This was in the film of Woodstock and it was about 1972. Still looking for one lol
It's very cool that you found the guitar you had dreamed of and at a reasonable price. I don't have a particular "nostalgia" guitar that I sought after during my youth.
Like you, I loved these guitars as a youngster. I’ve often considered purchasing one, and with seeing your video, I believe there is one in my future. Thank you, GMG!!
Oh!Yeah, studio looks great almost forgot to mention!Cheers!
what a great story Mike! I love the stripe and great opening riff too. Nostalgia!
Very cool GM!! Those Classic Vibes are great for the $$! I need to install a new nut on an Eppie Firebird I just bought. Since I may add a Bixby later I wanted a "Zero Fret" nut. They are $48 at ScrewMac, then a friend told me about Amazon. Exact same nut, part # and all $25.50! Big diff there!! I fell in love with a "Strat" at my cousins wedding when I was 12 years old! 3 years later I had one and was playing 'garage gigs' at 15!! The Strat was a '59, and it was 56 years ago!! The Squier Classic Vibe is my favorite Mustang. It has all the traditional specs except the truss rod access location.
When I was a kid every guitar playing kid I knew wanted a Fender Mustang. mid 60's
That Squire is pretty cool👍.
Thats a very cool guitar. I just bought a Squier Classic Vibe 40th Anniversary Vintage Edition Tele. Again, lovely guitar, great neck and looks very cool, but it also has a badly cut nut, so I'm gettiing that sorted. Maybe they were training a new guy on the days or nuts were cut :)
Nice guitar Mike I believe mine to be a warlock very pointy n rad lookin but growing up my taste changed but I still have a BC Rich Warlock 🤘🎸
Yup, I still want a Mockingbird.
1981 - I convinced my Mom to buy me a Palmer (BC Rich B*tch) copy. 1985 -I bought a used Les Paul copy and have loved LPs ever since.
Do you notice the difference in the fretts? im curious about the narrow tall. thank s again, great video
The narrow tall frets do feel a little bit different, but hardly enough where they cause any issues for me. The real difference is the shorter scale length. The strings are super easy to bend, almost too easy. In fact, before I relpace the nut, I might just go up a string gauge or 2.
Thanks for the review, Grumpy Mike! Agreed about Pau Ferro. I just don't like the look. Of course it doesn't help that every one I see at my local Sam Ash & GC is dry as a bone.
Bout 3 weeks ago
I was maybe 11, and it would have been Ace holding a Les Paul.
It's asking for a wound G.
