Yes I've had that happen a time or two. Oil it with sewing machine oil, especially the bearing and journals by the hand wheel. Let it sit overnight and force it to turn. They always break loose, it just takes time and oil. Of course make sure there's no thread stuck under the bobbin first!
Thanks! I tried using some 138 thread on my 206-5, thread got jammed up then it stopped picking up the bobbing thread after i cleared the tangled mess..i tinkered with that button out of no where and the machine came back to working order, i will have to go back and make sure it detents back in place.
Ok, when doing this do you rotate the wheel counterclockwise, or clockwise, or both? I believe I was told only turn the wheel counterclockwise, I’m assuming this is what people mean when they say turn the wheel towards you.
Hey Allen, you rotate the handwheel toward you while holding down the button to reset the safety clutch. Rotate it away from you to disengage the safety clutch (to test if it's working). Normally you will only turn the handwheel toward you when sewing. Best to you.

On the Consew 226 there are two silver buttons on the machine. One is for the safety clutch and the other is for stitch length. If the silver buttons are stiff, and won't move, you can add some oil and let it sit overnight. Then try pressing on the button again. Best of luck to you. The silver button on the left is for stitch length. Push the button and rotate the handwheel until it clicks. Keep holding the silver button down as you turn the handwheel forward or backward to change stitch length. Good Luck. @@وثائقوحقائقببضعدقايق
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to create and post it.
Do you have a suggestion for when the wheel won’t turn AT ALL?

What machine do you recommend for a beginner leather work machine?
