There was no concern about his opponent, he basically said "don't care, frick off" to Weil and then "Ciel, believe in me" (also implying "believe in my/our mission"). Not "Goodbye Ciel" or something that would indicate he's spending any energy on thinking about the fact that he will, in fact, die with Weil. It's "I'll finish this perfectly to the last slash or all the people I love will die down there", the textbook honorable warrior death.
This is a great parallel to their cover of Zero's theme, where he started off emotionless, and by the end of the song and the series, he knows what he's fighting for.

The fight against Weil onboard Ragnarok is one of my most precious gaming memories from my youth, so I'm glad to see you guys tackle the exceptional weight of this moment in the series. The time-limit were a real challenge on Hard Mode. Weil is even just barely out of reach of the Z-knuckle's charge strike. Still, it certainly communicates the severity of the circumstances and makes you feel the pressure, so it's an appropriate final challenge for this branch of the franchise.
It's hard to describe how amazing this final battle is And, in a way, it's funny. Willy's Greatest creation, ment to be his final impact on the world was successful. Just not the way he thought.

Literally this week i relistened to Cannonball and was fantasising about how falling down would sound like. Thanks for quickly proving me correct in thinking it would be amazing
Building on what others have discussed before, what I think really stands out about the battle between Zero and Dr. Weil here, is that Dr. Weil was motivated by a desire to make Reploids pay for the Maverick Wars, prompting him to start the Elf Wars to prove a point about the unreliable nature of Reploids, and Zero acted as the vessel for the Maverick Virus created by Dr. Wily, passing it to on to Sigma and so on, so in a matter of speaking Zero was the originator for Weil's own motivations. So Weil would theoretically have not existed without Zero himself.

there are so many songs that would be great to cover for these games, yet MOTI is of course also getting that from every other franchise he covers, and then also some he doesn't cover. if we don't get Ciel d' Aube after this I'm gonna understand that it's up to the people running the channel what content they make and respect their decision to leave the megaman zero series songs as is
there are so many songs that would be great to cover for these games, yet MOTI is of course also getting that from every other franchise he covers, and then also some he doesn't cover. So whilst I am personally in favour of more Zero-covers, I also understand that it might not happen. The songs chosen were great tho, Cannonball and Falling Down are honestly musts for how great they are and story importance, and Theme of Zero gives some extra stuff too

Some people believe that Weil is Wily, I don't know if that's true but I like to believe in this,since that means Zero's last fight would be agains his creator who wanted him to cause destruction.
Personally I'm torn on whether Weil being Wily would make the story better or worse, but it would certainly make the conclusion to Zero's story even more epic
