“They are victims of conditioning” well said. Every point you made is true. We have the same struggle and issues in America. It’s crazy how our issues mirror each other. We all have been divided and conquered by colonizers. It’s up to us to change the culture.
Peneul was thee "Capital" in this conversation...lol.. I took away a lot from this episode...Its rare to see Ursula glued in and taking it all in as Penuel dish up his thoughts.
With regards to the stockvel, personally think black people can use them to have a portion in these big companies instead of buying food for 60k at the end of the year Use the 60k to buy equity either for capital gains or dividends, these stockvels can be used to turn around alot of things and can help employees to move into being business owners, the same thing can be done for property
@Penuelism The stockvel sector alone is worth around 45bn, which is about 11.5bn monthly, hence, it is becoming a very important piece of pie for these institutions. However, we can not consilidate these funds as people do stockvels for different number of reasons Maybe we can look at businesses that have actual cash flow towards the investors and not just acruals such as capital gains.
I go to or past Orania regularly.. There is somewhat of an enclosure, but not guarded, gated or boomed. At the entrance there is a welcome board and it has rules on how to behave. Just outside that light enclosure is a string of shops including a coffee shop via haberdashery. I travel with my team and we go there for their heavenly milkshakes (take note). The Rand is exactly equal to the Orania (like Rand and Lesotho's Maloti). You can swipe your normal bank card as well. They greet Black people with respect, ask where you are from or to. Only a few Afrikaners will stare, but one doesn't feel threatened. Inside Orania are houses the Afrikaners built themselves. Like a housing complex. It is clean and quiet, very few houses have fences. As they drive past each other, they greet habitually. It's what Pen says: thought out, left what doesn't work economically, not just racist individuals.

Such a crucial conversation that needs to be had 1. Lobola needs to be standardized at R10 000 to avoid debt. Or play indishi like the Zulu's, where people attending the wedding give gifts or money to assist the couple 2.Make trading share compulsory in schools, even if its a demo account. This will make ppl conscience of whats happening in the business world 3. Every tribe should have a bank of its own- VBS cannot be the death of the idea of having black owned banks 🔥
Side note, the way we gloss over the royal bafokeng family and the Zulu monarch as examples of business excellence is part of what's holding us back, only contemporary examples are used as if the traditional ways can't get you wealthy

Great idea... except you don't have control.
Capital gains aren't guaranteed, and neither are dividends.
