This was brilliant! Thank you so much!! ....My dog was returned to the breeder as a puppy. She was punished a lot before they returned her - and when I got her, she was so shut down. She's now confident, happy and in general living her best life! Recently though, she is struggling with noises on walks and pulls on the leash - so she can go home (or back to the car) where it's safe. I'm going to try these methods. She's very food driven - so I think this will work! YAY!!
Mine too @peterdedulle. The irony! Fortunately I predicted and was wearing headphones for management. Hoping to follow this protocol to watch videos like this without them!
Thank you for the very informative video! I walked a dog that had extreme noise phobia and the right combination of anxiety meds really helped him. Without them he was so shut down that training was not effective. The medication made it possible for him to absorb new information and his training has come a long way since.
My dog is extremely afraid of beeps (like from delivery trucks or a dying smoke alarm battery) and lightning/thunder. These sounds are very unpredictable as to when they’ll occur. How do I help her with her phobias when I don’t know when they’ll happen?
We have 2 dogs rescued at 2 months old with 5 other dogs in a truck enroute to a meat market in China. They were brought to the U.S. in December 2017 and the foster had them until we adopted them in January 2019. They acted almost feral and it took months to gain their trust. One is deathly afraid of strangers no matter what we do. But the worst is that they are fearful of noise to the point I'm afraid they'll have a heart attack during the 4th of July, New Years, or a thunderstorm. Even the Harley or our old pick up truck scares them. Unfortunately, almost nightly someone sets off mortar fire that can rattle our windows so our home is a perpetual war zone. We've tried everything to help them overcome this fear but nothing works. Now we are giving them Trazodone to help take the edge off a bit but only during the worst of times. It just brings me to tears sometimes. We know the first 2 months of their lives were horrendous and all they endured to get here had to have been almost as bad causing severe PTSD, especially for one of them. They look and act a lot like a rat terrier barking at everything. We are used to Pit Bulls so these dogs will never be a good fit for us but our home is a good fit for them so we will keep them and give them love forever.
What do you suggest for dogs that are so sensitive, they go from 0 to 100 when they’re noise startled and shut down so much they won’t take food? And you can’t control the sound which is coming from outside the home (while you’re at home) and said dog is already on anxiety meds.
I recently adopted a 6 year old "Hound" (which i regret) apart from other issues , one big problem is : she is afraid of any banging noise, opening a box and motorbikes , loud car exhaust and backfiring engines , impossible to walk her, as soon as she hear a Motorbike she becomes crazy and pulled me back home
@@zenobbb I giver her , ashawanda, green lipped mussle, Gabapentin, previcox and CBD which helped, but I still regret I adopted this dog and would advise everyone , don't adopt an elderly dog
The ringing bells for the videos, are sounds my dog is afraid of. He went on a rampage scratching the doors and walls to escape. I don't want him on more meds. To get him desensitized to bird chirping or iPhone sounds.
the noise that your video makes at 9:01 triggers my dog into a reactive maniac, she associates it and reacts by looking up and barking at trees, she almost went through the plate glass window when she heard it
I just moved into a smaller place and the heater when it heated up or cools down, beeps, microwave beep and so on and I'm not getting sleep. He was bad before the move but it's crazy now. Literally last night total of 3 hours....I feel bad for him and myself.
What do you recommend to cross off the list medically if a dog with no prior history of sound sensitivity suddenly becomes sensitive to high frequency sounds
Thank you for that video. My dog don't have particular problem with noises - there is only problem with fireworks and thunderstorms. I've tried playing these sounds on RUclips, but it is nothing for him. But when it starts on the real life, then we have big problem. He is barking and is anxious. Don't know how to deal with that. I really want to help him.
Thank you for checking out this video! For loud noises like fireworks and thunderstorms, I highly recommend checking out this video: ruclips.net/video/EOy69y54Jg4/видео.html I hope it is helpful for you and your dog!
Same here my dog get scare for each and every noise it's very difficult to manage nowadays he is not sleeping at night for little noise he will get anxiety.... feel very bad and don't know how to handle with this.....
Do you happend to have a video on when my dog barks at a dog and bites ME instead of the other dog, what does it mean and what am I supposed to do to make that stop?
Not a trainer, but that sounds like redirected aggression. Does your dog bite you when you tug on the collar or leash, or pick up the dog (if a m-s breed)? How much space is there between you and your dog when they redirect? You might just need more distance so you’re out of the danger bubble, but if your dog moves towards you from a distance to bite then that’s worrisome.
I don’t believe this I believe that you should slowly expose your dog to all the noises in his life that he will experience and more I believe hiding away in the closet at a certain time of the day will not help Dog slowly has to adjust to the life that he’s going to be living for the rest of his life Just go slow and show your dog that you are the leader and will help him get through this.
Just to be clear, that noise that you use to point out the other videos drives dogs absolutely insane. Especially those with noise phobia. Please STOP using it in your videos about how to help dogs with noise phobia. Counter productive.

I agree!
The sounds triggered my dog while I was watching this!
I don’t take medication myself so I’m certainly not going to give it to my dog.
I don't pee outside in bushes, so I'm certainly not going to let my dog do it.
