awwww... they look sad because they didn't win the grammy, and they think they disappointed ARMY... but Army knew this was going to happen... so we just cheered them on and had the best 4 concerts 💜💜
the sense of sadness could be that they knew then they would be taking a long break and any chance at a Grammy, as a group, could off for a while. They deserve the Grammy, and the break they are taking. I do believe the 1st Korean to win a Grammy will be BTS or one of the members. The Grammy might not mean that much to ARMY but BTS wants one and they deserve one
Think Sumi Jo was the first Korean to win a Grammy but yes I know what you mean, honestly hope it'll be BTS that comes next, because they really do deserve it. As much as I hope for the success of 4th gen groups... they've had it easier by comparison so far with the increased sales and more opportunities on American talk shows. So I hope that BTS are able to finish what they started before a 4th gen group grows big enough to take away some of their thunder, because the journey from the ground up has been an incredibly long one and the Grammy is the last thing that they probably want in the music industry.
Their suits. Special material. Custom made to be able to dance in. Otherwise ripped. Sometimes even their special made clothes get ripped because what they do is so strenuous...like in this practice. And they are in those "costumes" during many dress rehearsals too to see if they work. And tech check. And lighting check to see if they show up well. Does any other group practice this hard? They all do. But, BTS is special. When they started their boss, Mr. Bang, required them to practice until it was perfect. The reason being. They were a brand new group and they wanted to impress everyone to Make it. They were almost bankrupt. No money. They had to impress to get bookings. More bookings ...more fame....more fans...more money. So they practiced sometimes 12 to 14 hours a day. And because of their years of bonding they know how to work together perfectly to make it look so good. A secret because I am a choreograper...no performance is perfect. They know how to "hide" their mistakes. When I first found them I watched their dances every day. It took 6 months until I found a mistake. Another interesting fact...usually a choreographer is at every rehearsal. But they don't need that. They themselves usually watch their videos...see the mistakes...and "clean" up the choreography themselves. Of course at the Grammies the choreograper was there. And, yes they are Renowned for their work ethic. Again, it is drilled into their brain and pride to make it perfect. They actually make it perfect for themselves first. They pride themselves. They WANT it perfect!! Why was RM nervous? Because they didn't have 12 to 14 hours to rehearse it before the Grammy performance. And most importantly... not said during this video...but they did explain at their VLive right after the Grammies...they had NEVER pulled off that amazing stunt...that coat trick perfectly. Never. Only at the Grammies did they pull off that stunt!!!!! That's why they were all SO very nervous. Something you didn't ask about...JK's aerial work. I have been in plays with aerial. First class aerial specialists are hired to do that specialized work. They have to set up the special equipment and test it and test it before JK every starts practicing on it. Here is another behind the scenes secret...the reason JK flew out to the Grammys early was to practice on this equipment. And the insurance to cover JK was at the very least 1 million dollars. JK could not just show up the day before and practice that aerial work. It takes days of practice. It looks easy, but how many safety belts did JK have on? I know. Where were the many safety belts worn? I know. What happens if one of the safety belts doesn't work? I know. Did you see JK release his safety belt during the performance? How long was JK up in the rafters before he came down for the performance? I know. Lastly, was JK scared. No. He loves it!!! Why were they sad? It wasn't about the performance. They were sad because they worked so hard and they didn't win the Grammy. And to be exempt from military service they are required to win one major national award. REALITY set in.
I was wondering if anybody else realized that their choreographer was not there directing the practice. I was really impressed that they were directing and fixing the performance themselves. They know the questions to ask, the location and motion of the cameras and they know how much more practice they need. They work like a well oiled machine.
Wow! I loved your information from the viewpoint of a choreographer. I am astounded beyond belief that they pulled off such an intricate, complex, groindbreaking performance with such little practice! Your accolades make me realize it even more! Thank you! Borahae 💜
You made many great points but the info about exemption criteria is not correct. It had been suggested by some that major awards/achievements (Grammy, AMA, Billboard) might be factors that could allow exemption but the parliament hasn’t passed another amendment to the law. (On top of the amendment to raise the age from 28 to 30 they made a couple years ago). There isn’t even consensus that pop stars (as a category) deserve to be considered for exemption at all like some athletes, classical musicians, and dancers are. Some state officials have lobbied for BTS to be exempt or allowed to perform alternative service (which is distinct from exemption but may have a similar effect) but it’s in the hands of the decision-making body at this point. I would think there’s quite a case to be made that BTS is more valuable to the country as BTS than as soldiers. However, I’m not Korean so it’s not my place to give an opinion. It is clear, though, that the state of limbo about it has been very stressful for the members and everyone around them. I hope a decision is made one way or another very soon so they can get back to making plans for the future. Even if “future” will be after 18 months of service there would at least be some certainty.
@@TheMamamarieke To be fair, if athletes and classical musicians have gotten exemption because of their contribution to the country on the world stage then I think BTS has exceeded that criteria. This has dragged on way too long, they need to just make a decision either way so they can move past it and as you said serve if they must.
Hobi and Jungkook were just getting over Covid, the guidelines dictated they wear masks. Jungkook was diagnosed after arriving in the US and had to quarantine in his hotel room, he did a Vlive during to quell boredom and keep touch with ARMYs. So the timing was quite tense. Hobi had been diagnosed and quarantined before while still in Korea.
But the people at the venue probably noticed it a lot more. I hate that (not that he messed up) but rather because I know he must have felt so bad about that. He practiced so hard and out of everything where he messed up was before they even start dancing. I would have felt horrible, especially in front of all those artists but I hope he didn't beat himself up too much about it because I mean these things happen and there's not much to do about it. Plus he did great from then on! He didn't look shaken in the least and carried out the moves to perfection. True professionalism right there😁👌🏾. I can't say I would have been able to brush it off as easily in the heat of the moment😅
They were sad probably because they lost the Grammys. They deserve the world and more honestly. We don't need to get the Grammys to prove their success but it hurts knowing they wanted it and worked hella hard for it
They are all such perfectionists, even a tiny error is monumental for them. I wish they would give themselves a little more credit. Besides, I think they were also disappointed that they didn't win a Grammy. This was the second time they were nominated for the best pop duo/group performance and didn't win. We can only imagine how they felt after working so hard. Not that they really need the validation from Grammys, but we know they talked about wanting to win it. Anyways, thanks for reacting to this. You are very enjoyable to watch💜💜💜💜
27:39 I mean, yes, namjoon is the only one fluent. but most of them do study english and I think jungkook is second best when it comes to pronounciation and suga understands 75% (I'm quoting him). but all of the others beside rm do have a long way to go which is totally understandable.
@@moonlightmoonchild1133 now I don’t know if he uses a translator, but when Hobi puts a long statement on IG, he has it in English too, which is nice. I don’t require them to speak or write in English, unlike a ton of people rudely asking them to speak English or other languages in VLIVES (omg that is so annoying and rude! Side note, if anyone reading does that, STOB IT!! You only have two reasonable choices: learn Korean or wait for subs), but I do really appreciate the effort.
I felt bad that they were denied a Grammy a 2nd year in a row. But I do love that instead of going to the Grammy’s after-party, they had their own private party for the fans. That’s one of the many reasons they have such a big fan base.
I’m gonna say something that many would disagree with or feel that it’s not correct. Let’s face it, every artist wants to win a Grammy. It’s an accomplishment, a goal, and a dream for any upcoming and aspiring artists. Over the past 2 years BTS came together and set out a goal to achieve a Grammy. They were no longer chasing what they originally set out to do but instead chased a dream that the industry wanted them to achieve. Giving every single blood sweat and tear that they had and in the end they didn’t get it. It’s absolutely a gut wrenching moment and a pivotal moment. RM speaks about it in their recent FESTA 2022. He didn’t know what kind of group they were anymore. And as an ARMY from the very beginning I started to shift too. I began to wonder, “How can I relate to a pop song?” “Something feels off” “The music no longer resonates with me” I thought about this and many similar thoughts after the release of Dynamite, Butter, and PTD. I’m grateful to have these songs but I knew deep down that this wasn’t BTS. This was a music industry pressuring BTS to do more. After everything is said and done, I’m absolutely ready for this new chapter. I want nothing more than for these 7 members to find themselves and love themselves for who they are, not as a group but individually. I’m so over award shows. They are a enhancement to an artist’s career never a goal that needs to be reached in order to earn a title. Even if BTS never wins another award again, all I wish for is for the 7 members to be happy and enjoy what they do. I will support them in every way. BTS is much more than those meaningless titles that the industry have given them.
Thank you for speaking up. I understand just what you mean. At the same time, I can't help but wonder how many of them, deep down, may not have wanted to go the solo route and were forced into it? How many times have we heard some of them say or imply that they alone are nothing without the others? Perhaps there are some of them who aren't comfortable with solo, don't feel they will succeed at it, but in the end had no choice. For those who might feel that way, who have worked for many, many years and felt comfortable as a group....well, imagine that they may feel like their dreams have come crashing down.... when MAYBE they could have just slowed down, taken more breaks more often, and not allowed themselves to be pressed (by the label/industry) into over working themselves....because those who ARE going to put out solo material may have to work just as hard, if not harder on their own to be successful. I am glad that those who may not be happy with 'going solo' will still have group projects here and there to look forward to. I worry the most about who those members may be and if they will be okay.
I agree- in a divided way. It was because of Dynamite that I noticed the guys and started paying attention. But it wasn't Dynamite that made me decide to be ARMY: it was Fire, So What, Serendipity, Euphoria, and especially, Black Swan. Dynamite and Butter and PtoD were, in their way, extremely successful; they didn't get the award, but they got the attention of people who wouldn't have otherwise been interested, got us wanting to know more about BTS and digging into their discography with enthusiasm. (I've watched BangtanTV subs rise from 46m when I subbed to the current 68m, in about a year and a half, which is amazing.) But you're right about the music. The grammy is something they want, but they had to step away from being BTS and make 'western appeal' music to try for it. And while the songs are still better than a lot of western music, they were a definite step down from the guys' regular quality... possibly because they were a step away from BTS's identity. It was a mistake of sorts, because if the academy can't honor them for something like Black Swan, that's the industry's loss, and a telling exposure of how provincial, how 'local' the academy really is. The other problem, of course, is that in admitting they wanted a grammy, they opened the way for the show to use them for clout, to dangle the award and then deny it to them. It's my hope that the guys will shun the grammys from now on, and my favorite daydream is of them holding a concert, live and streamed, on grammys night in years to come. We'd soon see who watches what!
@@KimmyGibson Firstly, thank you for writing. You have opened me up to a whole different lens that I hadn’t even thought about and I am here for it! 💜 I can very much understand that all members might not be ready or might not want to do solo projects and that it is sad to think about it. It’s a very scary thought to have. It’s a whole different field and for a group of 7 who have been walking side by side for the past 10 years it is very difficult to do things on your own but at the same time, it’s something that I’m really rooting for. Whether it’s solo albums, mixtapes, acting, producing, or even taking a break, hiatus, or just continuing to do BTS projects, I truly believe that whatever “this” is needed to happen. BTS will come back as a group stronger after everything. There is no doubt about it. It’s definitely a change for everyone globally but I think no matter what BTS and ARMYS will walk hand in hand down this new path.
@@ystrw Um a concert on Grammys night?!! Grammys might as well just go home 😫😂 I love that BTS paved a new way. They did it very intelligently and in a VERY talented way that truly took western media by a storm. I’m also grateful that so many people discovered BTS, ARMYS like you who became invested and supportive of the 7 members. Thank you for believing in BTS! 💜 I’m hoping western media can eventually see how it’s not about the awards and titles. Artists deserve recognition through their talents. I’m grateful that BTS paved a way for other artists.
By the way for those that didn't know the suits they wore for the red carpet was bespoke from Louis Vuitton, the silhouette of the suits was from the last collection that Virgil Abloh before he passed away.
Their work ethic is just astounding. As someone else said, lots and lots of groups (especially in the Korean pop/idol world) work really really hard. But BTS goes just a bit further -- 99% is not Good Enough. It has to be perfect to them before they let it out there. The behind the scenes for the Megan Thee Stallion 3J dance (the one-minute special dance vid with JHope, Jungkook, and Jimin, which I think you've reacted to on the Twitch channel) -- the behind scenes for that one is just unbelievable how much work they did on that, for a ONE MINUTE video, lol.
The fact that they pulled that performance off so well with Jin’s injury and Hobi and JK being in isolation after getting covid pretty much right up to the day before is nothing short of impressive. They never disappoint and their dedication makes army love them even more! Can’t wait for the day they actually win a Grammy!
It was so sweet. The translation of that was even nicer.. Jimin said that without Jin is it like BTS is missing a brush stroke (in the lettering) and it is Bangtin instead of Bangtan without Jin to complete that final stroke.
Grammy hyped them days before the ceremony. Butter had the best performances with record breaking results in charts and huge impact in the industry. They were seated in the front, the host chatted with them before the winner announcement, they were the center of attention, they had an out of this world performance. Then gave the award to a duo collab. The award was for best pop duo/group performance. Even RM said with all the signs around them and many BigHit execs were present they really thought they will definitely win this time. But sadly they didn’t. It was supposedly their gift to ARMY before their temporary break. Never happened…
And meanwhile ARMY's over here saying, "Hold on, guys, we only want this...thing...because YOU want it, you deserve it. WE don't give a (censored) about it." I knew they weren't going to get it: I knew it because Butter didn't make it to the Song of the Year category. They only got one nomination out of the 7 they submitted. The academy went with the absolute minimum, in order to justify inviting them to perform... to put an obligation on them. 'Oh, they nominated us, we better not decline to perform.' The academy's only goal was to draw ARMY views. Again.
What makes BTS better than ANY western or American artist is their work ethic. Not many will go through his choreography and get into such detail to make sure their performance is as clean as possible. Think of any other Western artists, rappers have dancers to do them and if they do ANY choreo it's very simple. Any instrumental band, they aren't doing choreo as hard as this if they do anything at all. Not many singers actually do the whole song's choreo while singing. Watching BTS, is watching them perform, the most entertaining and hard working group artists out there! I know there are other Korean groups out there and soloists, but BTS has the most hits and most memorable choreos out of all of them.
Thanks for your reaction, Luke! Jungkook and j-hope had Covid and got out of quarantine just before the Grammys. That’s probably why both of them are wearing masks. 💜
On the other members' English. I think Yoongi understands the most, but he speaks the least. In their US PTD concerts, while others sometimes spoke in English, he seemed to always speak in Korean, at least from the clips that I've seen. But, when he's listening to interviewers, it seems he understands them well enough, smiling at their jokes or compliments, sometimes answering questions before Namjoon finishes translating. I think Hobi speaks English the most in their interviews, out of the six members. I'm hoping that he'll appear on some shows during his visit to the US for the Lollapalooza. Taehyung, being the social butterfly that he is, seems to have no problem communicating with others, even with his broken English back in "American Hustle Life". A child actor he acted with in the ON MV said that he was always engaging her in conversation, speaking English slowly but clearly. We've also seen Jin communicating and making friends with local people during Bon Voyage. He's confident enough to make jokes to James Corden in their latest appearance on his show. When JK spoke English during Jimmy Fallon's show in the subway episode, he seemed to be getting more fluent. But when he shot he Left and Right MV with Charlie Puth, from what Charlie's said in interviews, JK seemed to rely on the interpreter a lot and didn't communicate much. I can't comment much about Jimin because I haven't seen enough clips of him speaking in English.
All we know about Jimin's English is what he said during the Most Asked questions; he wasn't studying English like Suga and Hobi and JK were, but he was watching a lot of Netflix and apparently picking some up from that.
Actually the little girl in the "ON" MV said in a video on her channel that V was struggling because he didn't know that much english and since she knows japanese she told that to Tae and he looked more comfortable after that so they spoke in japanese.
Sometimes I feel like the 6 are more versed in English than they make out (especially Yoongi, like you said he looks like he understands a lot. There aren’t videos on RUclips about him secretly being fluent for nothing lol). It’s one of the big mysteries to me. Hobi, Yoongi & JK have been having lessons for quite a while now. Charlie Puth said JK knows a few words and had no trouble understanding, but relied mostly on a translator, which for some reason I find hard to believe lol. Jin seems to do pretty good, in Bon Voyage Hawaii as you said he was talking to the cashier in one of the stores they went in like it was nothing lol. Talking to locals. Taehyung did say during one of the American concerts he was going to learn more English but I know he can speak a little. I saw him chatting with an English actor in Paris. I couldn’t hear what was being said, but unless that guy knows Korean, it looked like a pretty good back and forth between them. I think Hobi said Jimin is now taking lessons. I would love to see them around English speakers when there are no cams around, I suspect they know more than they lead on. Which btw I don’t blame them if this is the case. I know a decent amount of Korean words and what they mean, but I don’t know how to have a conversation with it though, it would be broken as all get out. Maybe that is what the issue is and therefore they don’t feel confident enough to do it in interviews too much. Obviously we don’t care if it’s broken, but I understand why they might feel hesitant. If I were to get in front of a camera, I’d rather use a translator too. Or … I’m totally wrong and they are still a long way off. Lol
@@OwnedByKitties RM has said himself that if he doesn't practice his English regularly, he starts to lose it. My guess is JK just hadn't been keeping up as much as he used to and wasn't as confident in his English skills without an interpreter.
@@yukifoxdemon it is true that languages are definitely a “don’t use it, lose it” skill. I’m open minded to the idea that they don’t know a lot of English (aside from RM), but sometimes I do wonder. For example, they might know what quite a few English words mean, but don’t know how to converse with it, if you see what I mean? I know plenty of Korean words but if you asked me to have a conversation with the proper usage of Korean, I couldn’t do it. Lol It would be very broken. They are exposed to much more English than I am to Korean but have learned what a lot of words mean just by watching their content. Usually when they do speak English it’s pretty well put together most of the time but that just could be they are good at memorizing answers to set questions. You do see them practicing what they want to say ahead of time. It’s one of those things … sometimes I think they know more than they are willing to admit (which you can’t blame them because then they’ll be expected to use it and they don’t feel confident, which me personally I would have a full on anxiety attack if I was asked to speak a different language in front of the world so I get it lol) or they really aren’t as versed in it, and that’s ok too. It’s a lot of pressure either way.
Every time I watch the Vlive after the Grammy performance my eyes to to JHope. Yes, he is my bias but I knew he would be beating himself up due to tripping up. He was very quiet and totally unhobi like and I think it was a combination of his trip and not winning the Grammy that caused this. They all work so hard and the smallest mistake really upsets them. It broke my heart 💔 to see our Sunshine like this.
We don't often get to see them fine tuning a performance. This was a great insight into how much they are involved in their own choreography. It must have been so hard for Hobi and JK to fit into the routine at the last minute. They did amazingly well especially as they were on the tail end of Covid which makes you so tired. I don't understand why the Grammy category is for duos and groups. Also I don't think you can call it a duo when they've only come together for that performance. It should be termed a collaboration. I cannot understand why they weren't nominated for, ON, and, Black Swan in previous years. I reckon that after that performance those who vote for the Grammys must have thought they'd made a mistake not giving it to them. RM really was nervous and excited. Hobi seemed pretty chill. I really felt for him when he tripped. Staying on his feet was a miracle. They're all learning English except for Jimin who watches Netflix, LOL. JK and Hobi are confident but nowhere near fluent. SUGA understands a lot but doesn't speak it much. Jin tries hard and so does V but real fluency is a long way off. Still they manage with the help of interpreters.
Hobi said in his vlive that Jimin was on his way to an English class this week. So he is now also taking lessons. I think they all have to given their solo work.
Jungkook and j-hope had Covid and got out of quarantine just one or two days before the Grammys. That’s probably why them are wearing masks. haha And I think they were also a little disappointed that they didn't win the Grammy.
just no words on how amazing they are in every single way. I think they were sad because they really wanted that Grammy and they deserved it soooooooooo much.
Is this silly that I was nervous for them even though I know they pulled it off? Their work ethic never fails to astound me. I understand why they were so nervous considering it was brand new choreo and they had been without their lead dancer for 99% of the rehearsals but seeing them prepping right up until the moment they were called is why they are able to pull off these incredible performances without fail. I'm glad they're able to take a break now and decompress from doing all of this non-stop for the last 9 years 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Growing up I had a classmate who would get upset if she received an "A-" for a grade. When you train and study to only bring home an "A" or an "A+", you are never happy with anything less. BTS has always said they never want to do anything to embarrass or disappoint their company, family, themselves and ARMY. One little trip, especially after the pressure of not having all of them healthy leading up to performance, the anxiety of walking the red carpet and feeling nervous communicating with reporters in English and then not winning the Grammy, would lead to some sad expressions. What a rollercoaster of emotions that must have been for them.
Honestly I don't think I actually noticed completely that Hobi sort of tripped. But knowing and seeing it again, I can say he definitely recovered very quickly. Wasn't really that noticable. So no biggy! They did amazing, period!💜💜💜
namjoon taking lead in interviews and stuff isn't only because he can speak english you'll see him do that sometimes in korean or japanese interviews as well he's just really good with words and a solid pillar the members can depend on whenever they need. the members admire their leader a lot but seokjin's a very talented and confident man he'll be fine in his solo projects don't worry 😌😌 (edit) ps- they aren't sad about the performance they're upset they didn't win and so are armys because we all know they deserved to :///
Basically every kpop group practices A LOT for any sort of performance. Kpop is extremely competitive and people expect the idols to be perfect. There are videos of idols casually joking about purple or even black bruises on their bodies from practicing. As a dancer, everything needs to be absolutely on point or it’s never god enough, sometimes the pauses might like awkward or small things like that and it’s overall just better to keep practicing and talking about it to find better ways to move your body
Keep in mind J hope and Jungkook only had that one day to practice with the group because they only got there the day before the Grammy, because of covid. Poor Jin was all practiced for the whole dance and had to end up sitting at the controls until the last song, then he was able to get up and dance. He was still very weak from the surgery.
I think J-Hope and Suga can speak English the best. I think Suga has always understood more English than he lets on. There are videos of them speaking English when they have to. JK can sing in English beautifully but I don’t think he can really converse. All of them can enunciate so much better than they used to. But being able to have a back and forth conversation is next level and they don’t want to make mistakes on camera.
Jin didn't join them on stage to dance until the very end. He didn't do any stage stunts with the coats! Someone helps him put on his coat for the last few lines and ending pose of the song.
They were sad because they lost the award, not because of the performance. They were really hoping to win a Grammy this time. tThe live was done minutes after the award show. That’s why they were a bit sad. I also believe that they were thinking of the Military issue, if they had won, the chances that they would get the exception would be much higher (that’s just my opinion, not a statement, by the way).
The 3J butter remix dance performance is solid proof that nobody is doing it like them...I felt like "last/final/one more time" would haunt me at night
I just wanted to hug Hobi. When I saw the performance the first time and saw him trio I knew he’d be upset. They just don’t allow themselves to be human sometimes. My “mom” side comes out.
J-Hope and Jung Kook were just released from Covid quarantine so they were wearing masks for caution but rest were not required to wear masks. Both J Hope & JK couldn't rehearse much with other members (together).
Yes the staff is usually blurred because they are the ones that do errands for the members. Since the members get mobbed whenever they try to do their own shopping (for example). 💜
The suits that they wore for their performance at the grammys were bespoke by brand Tailorable from Seoul, that brand has made several bespoke suits for the group the past year. I'm sure other groups work hard but bts works harder
I believe all the idol groups practice like this but the difference is that BTS is loaded with unprecedented talent. It is unusual to find so much talent within one entity. Not taking anything away from other groups, there is a distinct difference between them and BTS. BTS performs with true passion and it’s evident when you watch their faces while performing. They are not counting steps they did that in rehearsal, they feel what they are saying. That’s the reason why they need the time off, to regroup as RM said yeah, they could keep pumping out stuff like everybody else does but it wouldn’t have any meaning, they need creativity and muse to continue to deliver greatness and not make music just cause it would be a hit and sell, that would not be true to themselves and everything would start to sound alike, like what we hear from other groups, the same sound, same tones other than noise and nothing special. That is why BTS are top tier, they won’t settle. I love them for that. Plus their dedication to their craft is immeasurable and we are the happy recipients of what they produce. This Grammy performance is true art. Western artists sing about their latest sexual episodes, Kpop sing about sheer nothingness and you can’t tell one group from another unless you measure who is the noisiest but at least they practice just they don’t have any material. This is just my opinion. They were heartbroken as were all of us for not taking home the well deserved Grammy. Me personally can’t stand the Grammys but BTS wants it so I will support them. I knew it was a set up when BTS performed early in the program and their category late in the show, who here didn’t smell what was happening early on? 😂😂😂
NO ONE works harder than these 7 young men-total perfectionists and their performance was beyond anything anyone could have wished for. I do hope they feel the love we have for them!! Thank you for doing this one, Luke...to see the effort they put in is mind boggling! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yes the blurred out faces are their staff or members of the company whose identity needs to be protected. They need to be protected because sasaengs (stalker fans) will harass them for information. Later on the blurred out faces are just basically people who aren't BTS. Great video!
I always look forward to your videos!!! Your enthusiasm is contagious, even though I've been army for years, every time I watch your reactions I fall in love with them all over again!!!💜💜💜
This is how BTS does it, every time. They always review so they can improve. Hobi felt sad because of the fall. He had Covid and had to join super late ... they had a single day of practice as a group because Hobi flew in last minute when he finally got cleared of Covid. And JK was in a mask for much of it because he had Covid that week He landed in US and 24 houts later he was diagnosed. That Grammy performance was Rough for them because they did not have the chance to polish it like they usually do. JK was literally practicing in his hotel room. He did some amazing instagram sessions with Army while he was sick. Anyway - they deserved the Grammy but xenophobia and a cause of the moronrics kept them from winning it.
All the blurred faces are their staff - security, stylists, always people documenting them, managers, etc. Big Hit has tried to keep their staff anonymous whenever possible over the last few years. You can see staff in the older videos.
They always perfect their dance routine, ALWAYS!! You should watch jhope, jimin and jk's behind the scenes of their Butter( remix of Megan Thee Stallion) dance break. Pls react to that one-minute dance break and then the practice session for it. You'll be surprised how much they push themselves to perfection. Always working for the better. They're insanely dedicated. Also at the end - they all went live after the Grammy's to talk to armys. They didn't win it so they were obviously disappointed but they were more excited for the ptd concert that happened days after Grammy's. It was an emotional rollercoaster for all of us cos two times in a row getting nominated for Grammy's and not winning it is something any artist worthy of it would go through. They were clearly upset but they learned to put it behind them and had a ball during their concert. They just outdo themselves every single time.
Maybe they won't do as much US interviews for their solo projects but if they do they can just use a translator. Most of them have been taking lessons over the years so even if it's a rocky start this will force them to gain the confidence to speak it now without having RM there.
I think their sense of disappointment was just about the Grammy. We all know they deserved to win and we also know they are way better than that Grammy award can ever symbolize. But they want it so it hit them a bit hard not to get it. The Grammys are 'political', unlike the Billboards or the AMA's. We will just have to love our 7 guys extra hard to make up for it.
oh, they were sad because they didn't win the Grammy. I think all of us were disappointed that night, especially because they did so well, they had the best performance, they're definitely the best group... but the industry says it's not good enough, they treat them like rating baiting and just a gimmick. idk, that night was emotional (although it hurt less than last year, that's for sure). 🥺🥺🥺 I think this time "apart" will really help them with their growth and confidence as individuals
They were sad because they didn't win the Grammy, not because of their performance. They did amazing on their performance. I think they do look at it that way (although, yes, Hoseok was upset at his little trip but he had an awesome recovery). The effort that they put in is what makes them stand out from everyone else (well that and their raw talent). I think there is something else going on behind the scenes now that is partially the reason for their "break", but they all also deserve to do solo work, experiment, relax, etc. There really isn't a break as they keep giving us more and more content. Starting tomorrow we get a weekly Vlog starting with V's I believe. All different topics and will be on RUclips.
J Hope and Jungkook had COVID, and they had just been released from quarantine. JK had left early on a flight and when he arrived tested positive, so he had to quarantine for 5 days, and J Hope was already in quarantine but was released a few days after they all had lefts, so he flew over. I think they were just being careful. After they didn't win the Grammy, they tried to not let it show, but they were sad. It's okay to be sad, and the next day you move on. RM said they will be sad for a day and then happy because they have the concerts to look forward to. They had sold out 4 days at Allegiant Stadium. I was there for 2 days of it. the 15th and 16th. Amazing concert.
RM is fluent in English. But I reckon Suga is fluent too. If you watch him in English interviews he nods omg and understands everything thats said. He just chooses to speak Korean because he's a sod like that! I'm sure Jin can get by too. They can all speak a prepared speech in English beautifully. And V sounds gorgeous when he speaks English. I love his voice 😍
13.15 you probably didn't notice but this is the only time they practice full team with JK and Hobie who just recovered from covid, JK got covid in US hobie got covid in korea... they only have time to practice full team 1 time before the real show... that is how perfect they are
Jk and J-Hope had just gotten out of quarantine from covid. That's why they weren't in the previous days rehearsal. That's probably why they are in masks.
We will be getting a few of these behind the scenes videos is my guess. They had a lot of activities while they were in the USA. Bighit are genius at promoting BTS. They will try to give us what we want. If anything to prove that BTS aren't going anywhere.💜
Jin didn't participate in the dance break and majority of the dance performance, only on the latter part. He instead played out a role as a tech guy sitting in front of monitors while singing his parts.
35:46 They’re sad because they didn’t win the category they were nominated. All of ARMY we’re sad, too. But, in the end, we all know BTS don’t need the Grammys to determine their greatness.
JK and J-Hope are just getting off having Covid so that may explain why they chose to mask up even if they weren't contagious. Sometimes they will wear masks if they need to shave or if they don't have makeup on. Idols have a "perfect" standard so sometimes, an idol will just feel more comfortable wearing a mask if they don't feel everything is up to snuff. And some were disappointed the Grammy was a loss. And the others were disappointed in the fact that their brothers were disappointed.
Hi Luke, "Why they look so sad?" at the end of the Grammys in their room? It's probably because they "Lost" the Award for Pop Duo/Group AGAIN" at the Grammys aka the Scammys!
They were a little bummed out that they did not win the Grammy that night. They were nominated in only one category. I don’t think it was about the choreo. But in the end they were happy with their performance.
Nice reaction as usual! Will you still be posting your weekly rise of bangtan episode this week too though? That's what I get most excited about for some reason lol
About their solo work, they have defied stereotypes and traditions for their whole career so there really is no road map for them to follow when it comes to promotion. They may or may not do talk shows or other typical activities. They will do it their own way just like they always have. Hobi has already made at least one bold move by choosing not to release Jack in the Box as a physical album. A significant portion of Twitter is up in arms about that but here’s my advice: trust BTS. Whatever choices they make are THEIR CHOICES. With the amount of work they put into their music and performance, the idea that they would put any less effort into planning the other details of their work is ludicrous. BTS, as a group and as individuals, will give us what THEY CHOOSE to give us. It sure as heck isn’t ARMY’s job to second guess them or, as I’ve seen, try to make demands of them. Honestly, the audacity and hypocrisy of some people on twitter has been too much. It was only a handful of weeks ago that people were freaking out that CD3 of Proof was not available for streaming and “who the heck has CD players these days?” And now there’s freak out that there WON’T be a physical CD? Gtfo
I have to admit, I was a little indignant about not getting a physical CD myself. I though HYBE was letting J-Hope down, failing to put in enough effort to promote him solo. When I heard it was his own decision, I simmered down right away. I do prefer physical CDs, I guess I'm old-fashioned, but what Hobi wants is what I'll take, no complaints.
@@ystrw I don’t need the physical CD but I sure would love a physical photo book! The digital photo book has the benefit of being printable but there’s something great about excitedly flipping through a book that still smells of ink. Whatever. If I have disappointments I will just have to get over it. They owe us nothing. This period feels a bit unsettling but it’s also really exciting. I can’t wait to see what they all have in store!
@@ystrw As much as it feels strange to get a “physical album” that doesn’t actually have an album, going the no-cd route opens up all kinds of avenues for creativity. The physical thing that people buy is basically a tiny little merch pack, not constrained by the size & shape of a typical box. I’ve seen some cool fan-made designs and I particularly liked one that was a small metal can printed with the album art. Much more of a decorative object than an album box.
Wish you would have seen the actual performance before you saw the behind the scenes. It would have been more of a surprise. Still can't believe they didn't receive the Grammy. It's obvious the only reason the Grammy's wanted BTS to perform was to help their viewership. The Grammy's don't deserve to have BTS ever grace their stage again. We all know this award is bought (artist have to wine and dine the members of the academy) which is why they are name Sammy's!!! So happy BTS is better than that.
Thank you for this wonderful reaction 💜 Yes, they work harder than anyone else because aside from being workaholics, they are all perfectionists when it comes to their stages. If they don't do something right they practice until they do. When they were younger, they cried if they didn't get it right.. And they respect their dancers and never call them backups. Lots of people who've met them have said they treat everyone they work with as professionals. And they all cried after they got back to the hotel after the Grammys because they didn't win. (I'm not sure but I think they had a lot of emotion built up for it). They have all said they are ready to serve in their military... but people who win world classical music awards and Olympic winners are exempted from serving... Pop artists are not exempted... but it would be nice to be recognized like that even if they didn't take advantage of it. 💜😇💜usa
JHope is such a perfectionist when it comes to the performance I think he was disappointed in himself. I wish he wouldn't be but I think that's why their performances are so good. I thought they were all wonderful.
JHope and JK had COVID. They got cleared to perform literally days before the performance. That's why during the early practices the 2 dancers faces were blurred. It's also why they were wearing masks. This was the only practice they got as a complete group.
yes, they blur out their staff and crew for protection and privacy because they tend to get harassed and followed also once people find out they work with BTS.
I think the reason they felt sad was bec they didn't bag the Grammys....they were discussing it in their VLive. It was Doja Cat and Sza who won in the category they were nominated in. I felt sad for them all bec they were hoping to win it.
Jungkook and jhope mused like all those practices in the beginning, the airport, and half the practices in the US because they had covid. Jhope didn’t fly to America until a day before, practiced one day and then performed. Jin was injured and didn’t practice the hard choreo. I think you missed some of that bc you have to do a lot of reading the screen to see that and then kind of know to pay attention to it
They looked sad maybe because even if they say it was ok not winning the grammy, they still wanted it. It would had been great if they did. But that performance was even better than winning the award
J-Hope & JK had COVID, so both arrived late to practice as they had to wait for clearances, so they were playing catch-up. (The dancers that stood in for them were blurred during the practice sessions.)
JK and J Hope had covid and were only able to practice the one time together with the members....they just go out of quarantine literally the day before
They were a little disappointed because they didn’t win the Grammy (esp. Suga) and they knew it would take so much to ever win one in this system… they had hoped, especially since they knew they were taking a break from group performances.
it's a korean brand called ''tailorable'' that elaborates custom suits for them for most occations and events. i'm not sure if the material is more special in terms of flexibility and freedom of movement when they dance.
Hobi and Jungkook had covid right before the Grammys and were cleared, but still had to wear masks, because of the Nevada regulations for people who just recovered from covid.
awwww... they look sad because they didn't win the grammy, and they think they disappointed ARMY... but Army knew this was going to happen... so we just cheered them on and had the best 4 concerts 💜💜
It's such a shame that after all of that they were sitting there sad, they did so amazingly well!! 💜💜💜
the sense of sadness could be that they knew then they would be taking a long break and any chance at a Grammy, as a group, could off for a while.
REALITY set in.
the way it’s usually joon who rips his jacket😭
Hobi had been diagnosed and quarantined before while still in Korea.
jK and Hobi only had 2 days to do moves with the rest.
They missed J hope to directr them in practice
I didn't even know that J-hope had fallen until days after the Grammy's. They are so amazing. They're quite literally breathtaking.
Same! And I probably would still be none the wiser had I not seen someone point it out on twtter!
If you watch their post-Grammy video, they poke fun at J-hope for falling.
Me neither!
Until this video I never spotted it 💜
But the people at the venue probably noticed it a lot more.
We don't need to get the Grammys to prove their success but it hurts knowing they wanted it and worked hella hard for it
I forgot about that watching this, for some reason I just remember it as them winning 😂💜💜
That's how I will choose to remember it 😂
They are all such perfectionists, even a tiny error is monumental for them.
Completely agree, it's heartbreaking when they do so well and you see them disappointed with themselves 💜
27:39 I mean, yes, namjoon is the only one fluent. but most of them do study english and I think jungkook is second best when it comes to pronounciation and suga understands 75% (I'm quoting him). but all of the others beside rm do have a long way to go which is totally understandable.
I think J-Hope's English is pretty good these days.
@@pyejammiesfanfic640 oh yes, that's true!
Ah I was wondering, I'm watching their old docs and haven't seen many newer ones so was curious, thank you 💜
I felt bad that they were denied a Grammy a 2nd year in a row.
I began to wonder, “How can I relate to a pop song?” “Something feels off” “The music no longer resonates with me”
I thought about this and many similar thoughts after the release of Dynamite, Butter, and PTD.
(I've watched BangtanTV subs rise from 46m when I subbed to the current 68m, in about a year and a half, which is amazing.)
But you're right about the music.
@@ystrw Great idea! I know what I'd be watching that night!!

Firstly, thank you for writing. You have opened me up to a whole different lens that I hadn’t even thought about and I am here for it! 💜
I can very much understand that all members might not be ready or might not want to do solo projects and that it is sad to think about it.
@@ystrw
Um a concert on Grammys night?!! Grammys might as well just go home 😫😂
I love that BTS paved a new way. They did it very intelligently and in a VERY talented way that truly took western media by a storm. I’m also grateful that so many people discovered BTS, ARMYS like you who became invested and supportive of the 7 members. Thank you for believing in BTS! 💜
I’m hoping western media can eventually see how it’s not about the awards and titles.
You read my mind the 3J dance for Megan's verse in Butter behind scenes shows you just how much they put in to even the shortest performance 💜
The fact that they pulled that performance off so well with Jin’s injury and Hobi and JK being in isolation after getting covid pretty much right up to the day before is nothing short of impressive. They never disappoint and their dedication makes army love them even more! Can’t wait for the day they actually win a Grammy!
They really felt it when other members were missing. Jimin to Jin: “We need you to be BTS. We’re BT right now.”
WE don't give a (censored) about it."
I knew they weren't going to get it: I knew it because Butter didn't make it to the Song of the Year category.
They slayed in the Grammys ♥.
Thank you for reacting to the whole Grammy behind the scenes .
And also, Happy birthday ARMY💜.
They really did!! 💜💜
Thanks for your reaction, Luke!
Jungkook and j-hope had Covid and got out of quarantine just before the Grammys. That’s probably why both of them are wearing masks. 💜

@@GOTGames Look at you learning their Mic colours for their hearts! You are becoming Army now.
They deserved that Grammy.
@@Mimikoo good for Jimin. It’s hard because the sentence structure is so different.
Get your snacks!!
I'm glad they're able to take a break now and decompress from doing all of this non-stop for the last 9 years 💜💜💜💜💜💜
😂 I felt the same!
I think the sadness was because they lost the Grammy and they knew it'd be long until another chance due to the extended break coming up.
namjoon taking lead in interviews and stuff isn't only because he can speak english you'll see him do that sometimes in korean or japanese interviews as well he's just really good with words and a solid pillar the members can depend on whenever they need. the members admire their leader a lot but seokjin's a very talented and confident man he'll be fine in his solo projects don't worry 😌😌
(edit) ps- they aren't sad about the performance they're upset they didn't win and so are armys because we all know they deserved to :///
RM Suga JHope Jin Jungkook V Jimin deserved a Grammy.
No one could top their performance.
Warm greetings from The Netherlands 👍💜🍀💜🍀💜🍀💜🍀💜🍀💜🍀💜🍀🤘💪🇳🇱🌷🤗
They were sad because they didn't win the Grammy they were nominated for. But they don't need a Grammy. We all know how amazing they are.
They did earn the win but the Grammy's still didn't give them it.
💯
RM is BTS #1 "cheer" Leader...I can't imagine how much pressure he feels...and at his age....he is very grounded.......💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Ah thank you 💜
I believe all the idol groups practice like this but the difference is that BTS is loaded with unprecedented talent.
They are totally amazing 💜 💜💜
Yes the blurred out faces are their staff or members of the company whose identity needs to be protected. They need to be protected because sasaengs (stalker fans) will harass them for information. Later on the blurred out faces are just basically people who aren't BTS. Great video!
I always look forward to your videos!!! Your enthusiasm is contagious, even though I've been army for years, every time I watch your reactions I fall in love with them all over again!!!💜💜💜
Ah you're so kind 💜
Tomorrow is ARMY birthday!!!💜💜💜🥂🥂🥂9.07.2013 Happy birthday ARMY all around the world!!!!🎊🎉🎊
All the blurred faces are their staff - security, stylists, always people documenting them, managers, etc.
They’re perfectionist, they’ve been working hard since day 1.these guys deserve eevry bit of success they are having right now
106k.... well deserved Sir!!!!
Appreciate you ❤️
Maybe they won't do as much US interviews for their solo projects but if they do they can just use a translator.
I think this time "apart" will really help them with their growth and confidence as individuals
13.15 you probably didn't notice but this is the only time they practice full team with JK and Hobie who just recovered from covid, JK got covid in US hobie got covid in korea... they only have time to practice full team 1 time before the real show... that is how perfect they are
News announced BTS global concert in bus in in October. Our guys will be performing together
RM'S hair goes from blonde, to grey as they are filming this!! The hard work they put into each performance is something else.
They were also sad bcoz they couldn't win the grammys or should I say scammys
True actually, I didn't think about that until after 💜
Ahh I was hoping for rise of bangtan but this is also a great reaction 💜💜 I hope u start watching some good compilations of bts 💜
Next week the next Rise of Bangtan will be back 💜
💜✌🏻The Scammies need BTS, BTS does NOT need them! MIC DROP! 🤟🏻💜
I'm here for Bangtan. l'm loving this reaction of yours 💜 looking forward for more of their content 👍🏻
Jk and J-Hope had just gotten out of quarantine from covid. That's why they weren't in the previous days rehearsal. That's probably why they are in masks.
8:39 Jin is sitting down throughout the whole performance
We will be getting a few of these behind the scenes videos is my guess. They had a lot of activities while they were in the USA. Bighit are genius at promoting BTS. They will try to give us what we want. If anything to prove that BTS aren't going anywhere.💜
Jin didn't participate in the dance break and majority of the dance performance, only on the latter part. He instead played out a role as a tech guy sitting in front of monitors while singing his parts.
35:46 They’re sad because they didn’t win the category they were nominated. All of ARMY we’re sad, too. But, in the end, we all know BTS don’t need the Grammys to determine their greatness.
stand ins for jk and hobie
Any way Happy birthday 🎉🎂🎁🎈 BTS ARMY ALL OVER THE WORLD BORAHE💜💜💜🇦🇪🇵🇭
Tons of ARMY here, but YOU turned me on to BTS.
The people blurred out are pobsbly the security team hired by the Grammies for them.
yes, they blur out their staff and crew for protection and privacy because they tend to get harassed and followed also once people find out they work with BTS.
I think the reason they felt sad was bec they didn't bag the Grammys....they were discussing it in their VLive. It was Doja Cat and Sza who won in the category they were nominated in. I felt sad for them all bec they were hoping to win it.
JK got Covid when he arrived in Vegas, had to quarantine in his hotel room
21:06 Haha, you definitely haven't seen Namjoon cook🤣🤣
😂
I think they were mainly sad because they didn't take the award at the end
honesty they all do but other group that comes immediately to mind is Seventeen ❤
MY 7👑❤😍💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Happy ARMY DAY ❤🎊🌸
Jungkook and jhope mused like all those practices in the beginning, the airport, and half the practices in the US because they had covid.
JK and J Hope had covid and were only able to practice the one time together with the members....they just go out of quarantine literally the day before
No, they were sad because they didn't win Grammy, not because of their performance or they are going solo.
