Jeez, I must be the only person I know who doesn't mind snoring. I find it comforting. I am on my own now, so the only snoring I have is my old dog. I still find it reassuring though.
I live in Spain but was in London from Thursday until this morning and swear i didn't stop shivering the minute I got off the plane was sleet at one point, you are both crazy probably why I like you !

It's warmer for us lol. Just not in the hammock 😆 we're a pack, so once I was back in the tent, it nicely went up to about 12⁰c and a decent rest of the nights sleep. Cheers tho, and HAPPY HOPPING 👌🏼👍🏼

I’m a big hammock camper, have a look into clinch buckles, such an upgrade from loops. For the tarp to be tight I use a continuous ridgeline and use a soft shackle prusik loops to attach to the tarp. No carabiner needed that way. This set up seems good for someone new to hammock although there are better. My hammock and winter tarp with doors weighs 820g
Just got to the end, for rain water coming in from the straps you want to make drip lines that you keep permanently on normally just 1 is good enough but you can always add as many as you like !
Ello ello morning morning, I tell yah I started with a hammock on my adventure and holy moly it was an experience 😂, The one I had as soon as I moved it would swing like a pretend Tarzan swinging on powerlines, Im a stomach/side sleeper so I just couldnt figure it out,
It was super comfy though I just laid there for hours thinking the sound of the waterfall would drift me off to sleep, you know what it did instead make me need to pee like crazy 😂.
This hammock looks way better made an better quality,
Ive had times when I'm like I wish I had a hammock, especially that night this dumbarse struggled up that steep sloop looking for a track that didnt exist only to be caught out by the dark.

Hammocks are awesome. Great backup for you both as it is light weight and is off the ground. I've heard stories of top to toe sleeping for couples as long as the weight rating is not exceeded. underquilt is essential in a hammock. They are glorious on a super hot evening

Looks very well designed that hammock. Down to personal preference I suppose and conditions. Would be great in summer if you could have the sides open. Not a camper but my instinct would be to put a lot of dry leaves or bracken under the groundsheet in tent if available for a bit of extra insulation/comfort.

I've never been able to get on with hammocks, not even garden 'lounger' ones. I always feel like I'm being sucked into the middle & I can't find a comfortable position to relax in (even though I'm of average build). Getting in & out is a mission in itself LOL. I'm surprised that you lasted as long as you did, especially at -2. I guess this could be called one of those exercises that YOU did so that WE don't have too 😆. A great big 10/10 for effort. Use a space blanket as a base sheet at the bottom and a roll-up foam mat on top of that inside the hammock to lie on, making it more comfortable and warmer to lie on.
Not sleeping with walkers lol 😆 but had my thermarest mat underneath me, which is insulated and reflective. Problem is.... you have to be warm in the first place, these spaces blankets don't make you warm, but stop heat escaping. Best kept for emergencies not sleeping I one... the noise aye! It's soo good to sleep with feet up ~ is lovely for circulation, also laying flat on ground with legs @ rightangle up :) can use a wall or big tree, arms out is imo a blissfull sensation

Last time I hammock camped I forgot my under blanket it was of the coldest nights of my life.
Get yourself an underquilt for the colder months 🙂 I have a hammock that I can peg to the ground or hang up in the trees absolutely love it over a tent when I'm myself just vibing and the under quilt keeps good heat in!

Aw sorry didn't realise you were giving away only seen so much of the vid as kids were distracting me so put it in my save for later lol my bad 🙏🏼 I just got excited when seen the hammock 🤦🏼♀️ lol my partner and I do the hammocks together too so isn't just for solo I was just saying I like it for my solo outings more than carrying tent etc my partner and I both have hammocks and the tent so at times we're in the tent other times in the hammocks and at times the hammock and the tent with the two hammocks one above the other and hang the tent up as a protective tarp over us. And also the under quilt advice can be for anyone wanting to give hammocks a go as I didn't get one when I first started using the hammock years ago I only got one fairly recently and feel it's a game changer for the colder months as my fave is autumn and winter but my back gets achey with getting old and cold lol so wish someone had said to me about one sooner. I spend more time in the woods than I do my home as I really don't like living in houses but I have to go back for when have the kids so they are warm comfortable etc so totally get you'd not want to ditch the tent I genuinely just thought you were adding to your gear! 🙂 Happy hopping guys!

I use the DD hammocks camo nest hammock,in cold weather an under quilt is a must i also use the karrimor foldig under mat. This insulation underneath the hammock traps warm air lost ive slept at -5/7 with the DD camo Jura2 as my bag i slept very well on my first trial in the garden. Any temps lower than -5/7 I'll add a lightweight fleece or a miltec bivvy bag. Just my personal experience.🤔

i have been thinking about hammock camping for so long, i have spine damage and it would be a blessing in disguise. i have the perfect -18c comfort sleeping bag and 4 season sleeping pad to go with it! there is a local woods 10 minutes walk from me!

Definitely get an under blanket as I found even the warmest sleeping bag struggles when compressed against the hammock! That said I didn't use a very high R rated sleeping pad so maybe that would improve the situation! Once I got an under blanket I did away with the sleeping mat as I found them a pain to stay on in the hammock but I'm a fidgeter!!😂

Ahh! 6ft off the floor, trees 3 to 4 metres apart.
Keep it flat and sleep diagonally. I haven't watched it all yet, but I'm betting you'll be sliding with the head end higher.
You need an under quilt with a hammock in winter, the cold will get you even with 2 inches between your bum and the floor!
Your mat would help but maybe not enough.

Two problems with hammocks:
1 due to wear and tear it's going to break and send someone to the ground eventually
2 imagine if it was high speed winds

Just by inserting your sleeping matt underneath your body in the hammock keeps your back warm as it compresses the fabric on your sleeping bag exposing a poorly insulated bottom to the elements!

That's a really nice gesture, but we have our scarves and very happy with them. Plus, it makes the haters comment too lol 😆 they're Shemaghs, so multi purpose for us and our needs. People in the past have got us snoods and such too, which goes straight from us to someone who will benefit more, or a charity shop as its just kit we've always stuck by.
Doubles up as a towel, carry sack, sling, tourniquet, blind fold lol, head warmer, pillow packer, serong, picknick blanket, towel... we could go on, but you get the drift lol.

@nickmaddern7545 it's cool, thank you. These are all year round lol. We change them out for new ones eventually when threadbare but not the black amd white ones as we're not political as you know.
