- Hello @thewaywewore fans,
In this episode Doris discusses the work of Debra Hanson, costume designer, whose work on Schitt$ Creek has made the character of Moira Rose into a fashion icon. This eccentric character's wardrobe of monochromatic, color blocking, wigs, and accessories has become a sensation that has gained a loyal following of die hard fans. Doris explains how costume designers create stylized looks and the process it takes to build a character that is larger than life. We hope you enjoy this episode as we display some of the store's fashions that would mostly end up in Moira's closet.
Enjoy!

Doris the silver hair on you is really glamorous. Love it.
I love seeing what Moira is wearing. Debra Hanson you have done a fabulous fabulous job.
As a life long vintage seller and fan of your videos it breaks my heart to know your collection was looted. I know the work that goes into making something as precious as your collection! Wish I could wave a wand and land it all back in your lap. You’re taking it like a champ. XO
"By wearing architectural garments, Moira Rose became a monument" (or something like that, Doris says it so much better). Loving this analysis of my favourite Schitt's Creek character through her costumes!
Schitts creek was stylistically amazing, I was surprised to see high fashion pieces on Moira, and David also. I was completely taken aback, to see a comedy show utilize very fashion silhouettes.
Especially for a Canadian production. We are not known for high budget productions and apparently Schitt's Creek was no different. They did so well on a budget.
I’m such a fan of Japanese designers. Doris, we appreciate YOU! To carry on after what’s happened is truly amazing. Thank you.
I’ll be rewatching this video several times. I was/am a huge fan of Schitt’s Creek - the only show I’ve ever faithfully looked forward to and watched weekly.
Moira’s fashions fascinated me and were part of the draw. Thank you so much, Doris !!

Moria outfits are still my favs! Debra Hanson did a marvelous job and wow, I want it all!
How sad that some people thought it was their right to steal from your store. I think it's like a living museum of fashion, because it is meant to be experienced by many people. Doris I love your videos! I'll never be able to enter that world, but it's nice learn about it from you. Thank you for continuing to show your collection.
I've been a subscriber for a few months now but I've only watched this today and I'm kicking myself for taking this long to watch this video. I am a huge fan of Japanese designers because of their design creativity and fashion philosophy. The Comme des Garçons pieces alone were enough to kill me with happiness, but then you threw in some Junya and Issey Miyake and I just went fine, I'm dead. Loved everything. And I hope you and everyone else involved in the store and the channel enjoy a happy and safe and healthy holidays!
love schitt's creek, always funny! love the idea for this episode, the puffy jacket is gorgeous
tommy wiseau
Hi Tommy! Thanks for your comments.
The jacket is unisex. Would you like still images, measurements and a price?
We appreciate your interest.
Doris
I love this type of episode
I feel invigorated by this video. It feels like a holiday in the soul and mind of Moira Rose. I love you and your shop and feel sick that you have suffered such an attack. There is very little chance I will EVER get to visit in person it each of your videos enriches me. I hope life returns to some normality for you soon xxx
I love that you love Schitt's Creek and Moira Rose! She is an icon for sure! Sorry to hear that you were looted. That is so sad! Keep doing your amazing videos. You are a gem!
Deeply sorry to hear of the break in, it's impossible to not have compassion for all your hard work being stolen. My hope is that all will be restored. I so appreciate your consumate curiosity and especially your support of the wildly creative and the extraordinarily beautiful. I love the concept of inspired by Moira Rose and the level of innovation and intelligence which is everpresent on each episode you create. Thanks so much for forever taking me on such a literate and expansive creative journey. Peace and health.
Hi Claire. Thank you for this kind note. Sadly I can tell you after 11 months, I have not gotten any of my pieces back. But even though that was one of the most traumatic experiences I have had to go through, I am grateful it wasn’t worse.
But on a happy note- isn’t Moira Rose fantastic!!??
So glad you & the team are weathering through the looting. This tribute to Moira is great fun. Tough to pick a favorite, but if could only choose one then I pick that gold beaded gown. How I would loved to have won that back in the day. (I say back in the day, because I’m an old broad now, but have always loved clothes.) I send blessings to continue the healing from the experience of the looting. Oh, and also I too love your top.
Another great video. Love the way this Chanel allows us to see actual garments close up and get an idea of textures. The premise for the TV show reminds me of the true story of Little Edie who lost her fortune but upcycled her way to become a fashion icon before upcycling was even a thing. There’s a great video about her on the Ultimate Fashion History chanel.
Love these spectacular and distinctive pieces. They have an upcycling/repurpose feel to them. So cool!
Another wonderful episode. Big fan od Schitt$ creek & so interesting to hear who the designers were. Thanks Doris
Didn't even see everything yet, but already love it
Love Kathryn O'Hara!
Her Beetlejuice costumes, sweater pants and glove headband mmwah!!
Her sculptures ha!
"Its my art! And it is dangerous!"
I loved the show and LOVED all Moira's clothes...I want them all. And your tunic, too.
Foxy Cinnamon
Hi Foxy! We can arrange that. 😉
What excitement this brought to me today👠🥰🌞
I think it would be lovely to have an episode about Daphne Guiness :)
Catherine Ohara used to do a character on SCTV - Lola Heatherton. Her outfits were zany.
Haven't heard that word enough! Thanks. (ZANY)
I only watched Schitts Creek for the fashion on Moira & David....great show, fabulous comedy.
I absolutely love Moira & this inspired collection :)
OMG! Two of my favorite things combined. I’m dying. Moira and Doris are my Queens. I’m crazy for Moira and David’s wardrobe.
Hot Mess Jess
Your comment just gave me a HUGE smile!! Thanks.
Doris
The Way We Wore , so happy I could make you smile Doris! You have given me so many smile during this quarantine. I’ve learned so much from you and I hope you recover quickly from the looting.
Thanks for all of the great videos!
This is your best episode ever! Everything is so fabulous!
Moira and doris both having lost a lot is so poignant! Love all the nuances in her outfits! And seeing archive lanvin onscreen is such a special treat!
I’m so sorry you have to go thru this horrible rioting.God bless you
Dear Doris and all your team! :) Absolutely amazing episode :) Take care and be strong :)
Yeah lets hear it for the Kiwi. Thanks for that beautiful Doris
I always click the fastest once I see your new upload. Thank you for your unconditional love for fashion. We all love you Doris ❤❤❤
My aunt owns a consignment boutique "Raks Nearly New" in Youngstown, Ohio. She just gave me the opportunity to start working for her In May when our state allowed retail to reopen. We have a lot of wealthy older women who bring us their clothing. We even have an entire rack of vintage fur pieces, and the other day a Hallston(so sorry if I spelled it wrong) piece came in. I was so excited(Sounding all knowledgeable knowing the designer)LOL. The furs sometimes sit in the store for years before they sell, we don't sell vintage(even though some things these women bring us can be PRETTY dated.. But I am surrounded by fashion and accessories all day and get to style mannequins for fun when we aren't busy. I absolutely love my job! When my aunt was thinking about hiring me she had me in to talk and I talked all about vintage fashion and current and about the different things that I have learned right here on your channel and she was so impressed and didn't know I had such a love and interest in fashion that she gave me a chance and hired me on the spot. I just wanted to thankyou for sharing your passion and knowledge about vintage fashion. You are always such a joy to watch and you're always teaching me something new. Thankyou.
Wow... This is fashion, what a delight.
Look forward for your notifications!!! Keep strong!
Your Vivienne Westwood episode was wonderful and you rocked the black slim jeans and black t-shirt with golden design. You have the body for that silhouette. So sorry about the looting but you will rise again. You are fab.
Great episode Doris. I adore Ben Bes hats, one of my favorite Milliners 😍
same here, sadly I never found one out in the wild so to speak, but as a vintage clothing dealer finding a Bes Ben hat was on my bucket list.
Love the black and white inspiration!
Beautiful collection! You can see how much thought you put into your videos, research and pieces you acquire. Quality content! ♥️♥️♥️
My favorite video so far! I love Moira 😍
Fabulous. I love this episode. Thank you. This one made my week.
Buy the dress 👗or shoes 👠👛 and the Event will appear😀💝
This is a great video. You really went in depth with what the character wears. I haven't seen the show personally but I am familiar with the character and this was spot on. Down to the umbrella
I love you, Doris Raymond so freaking much thank you so much for your videos and sharing your knowledge and passion and love of fashion and I thank God for your videos because they really inspire me to be more knowledgeable
Wow! Thats a powerful comment Shane. My motivation in doing these videos was to inspire. You just paid me the BEST compliment. Thank you. ❤️
Loved it Doris. The eyeball necklace is amazing!🐨🇦🇺
You look marvelous darling! Love the look and happy to know you are hanging in there!
You are right about clothes making u feel better! As a young stay at home mom I had many things that were for special occasions that never happened! Finally I made them part of my regular wardrobe to enjoy them!
love yoshiki hishinuma! thank you for showing
Oh no. I am so so sorry about the break-in! How devastating. Wonderful video. :)
Ralph Rucci is also my favorite. Love your white tunic.
Never watched the show but probably will now that I saw your costume choices. I worked as a costume designer all through college. Miss the creative work. Love that you went outside the box and fitted a character. Love your videos!!! Happy to see you embrace your grey hair. It’s growing in lovely.
OMG iconic thank you so much!! 😍 I know you’ll get your business back on track and even more fab! I root for youu❤️
Am glad to hear that you are still in business and still standing Doris. I am sure that you would still be blessed with many years in the business. Kudos!
I was saddened that the show finished. Loved loved Moira, she truly made the show. Thank you for sharing those stunning pieces. Love the lobster 🦞 hat.
All the Com de Garcons peices 😍
She has SUCH ownership in this character. No one else could play her.
Adore you Doris!!!
I would love to wear vintage, but sadly my height and body shape disagree. ☹️
When she pulled out that white blouse, all I could think about was the Seinfeld "Puffy Shirt" episode. 😃
Thank you for bringing us beauty. Your grace and dignity helps us all push through these times. Be well and God bless you.
this was a wonderful episode!
great episode!!! love the style breakdown. more of these!!!
Miyake!
Once again a great episode - so sad to hear about the looting ☹️ Take care Doris Aroha Nui 💕

Happy and was excited to see you every time you make a new episode. I feel sad for the looting, hope you recovered and no worst damage happened. God bless and keep you safe always.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
Stunning!
Doris is just wonderful
Masterful use of the jenny packham btw
Incredible garments. Thank you.
Love vintage
Doris, you are looking better than ever lately. Wow. 😍
Hi Doris
I’m sorry to hear about the looting at your store, it really upset me on your behalf.
I feel such a connection to what you do and really admire and look up to you as a mentor.
Thank you for being a light in the world of fashion history.
Sending much love, strength and positivity from South Africa 🇿🇦
PS Moira Rose is a Queen !
Your videos bring me such joy.
I’ve just discovered this site and I love it and I love vintage and Japanese designers.
Great show as always....
Catherine O'Hara gave Dan Levy pictures of Daphne Guinness when they were discussing how the character would look. Once you know that, you can see it instantly. The black, white and the silver jewellery which is used Daphne style as a kind of armour .....
If there's ever a reunion episode of sorts, the costume designers now know where to look for Moira's next looks!
Loved the episode 👌🏽
Love the ann dem and commes and junya for comme, especially the gold!
You looked great in the black hat. Thanks for bring the wonder items you inform us about. I feel like I’m getting a fashion history degree
Again, Doris, thank you so much for your charm and intelligence in these difficult days. The yellow and black neoprene jacket at 9:03 would be great for Yayoi Kusama.
Thank you for another great video. I look forward to every one. So glad you are doing ok. I hope you get pieces back. 💗🙏🏻
I absolutely adore that show! I wish they would do another spin off
Another great video !!! ❤️👌🏻
Love you Doris.
Don't worry about the looting.
Sending peace & love & good vibes.
This was a wonderful episode. I’m so glad you are still producing content, I hope you’re doing well behind the scenes too
How am I just seeing this?!?😮
Better late than never,,,,?
Nice staging/set!!
Ok, so I am just watching 6 or 8 episodes of you and trying to ignore the real world out there, and you mention your white tunic which, yes, I have noticed before! I actually had just drawn it out with the seamless sleeve and the wonderful large pockets! I some how have way too many pieces of Aloha wear that started me on my path to collecting and repurposing. I have made a number of pieced quilts made from Aloha fabrics through the ages. But back to this wonderful tunic! I have a box of genuine Karate and Judo uniforms that I have been saving and I think I will make myself a tunic with large pockets with your Ralph Ruchi as my inspiration! I will have to make a summer one without sleeves as well as a winter one for when our weather falls several full degrees! I too am so glad you are back after the looting. We will just have to remember this horrible year as inspired by trump. Keep safe, and keep smiling! Aloha
The parachute style jacket looks so 80’s. Love it.
Keep your spirit up, i send you a big hug and good energy, you are amazing, its always a pleasure to listen to you and be able to learn so much. Saludos desde Chile 🤗🇨🇱
What an amazing collection. Just made my day. ❤️ From Ireland 🇮🇪🍀
omg dying. i was saying almost when she said that.
