Wallboucing is a part of the franchise, i dont even understand why it’s a debate … this allows to counter people who hide or wanted to stay next to a cover forever, and believe me sometime it can be very boring. It is what make this franchise Amazing. Yes sometime its annoying but it is a clear skill gap and it is what make me want to improve and why i love this franchise so much. There is a lot of key movement on Gears of war and wall bouncing is a part of it. Gears of war is unique, its the only game who offer such a cool mouvement, gunfight and tension. Cant wait to see more about Gears of war EDay.
I can see all sides. I don't wall bounce and I think it looks silly and doesn't enhance what I like about Gears, but at the same time I'm totally fine with people doing it. Just as long as they don't mind a lancer or boomshot to the face in return. :) all's fair in Gears and War lol.
@@gearsintelits a player innovation. I suck at it and I don't use it much. But I'm also 40 years old and have no plans on being on a professional team. Elevating the skill ceiling keeps people engaged.
The movement is to fast now hard to keep up with make it slow and clunky again gears 1 gears 2 vibe make it feel like we’re actually wearing a suit of armor!
@@thegreatdamiano8565look at the Og gears that everyone says is better not alot of movement mostly just people using lancer and pistols the gnashers busted and the lancers garbage now so everyone plays super aggressive now it’s kinda fun but off putting for new and casual players.
I want the movement in gears E Day to be slow and make the matches more of strategy and teamwork than just being a gnasher fest. I mean the lancer should used more to keep that dark gritty immersion than rather seeing a player literally going through the speed of light. Not saying wallbouncing should be removed but should just make it slower unlike gears 5
gears 3 perfected wall bouncing tbh, 5 is way too easy to just wall bounce sideways and backwards without even moving your camera. the cone they have in 5 just lets you wall bounce any where around you at all times which I think shouldn't be a thing, wall bouncing should have a skill ceiling where people have unique movements instead of gears 5 where everyone is a wall bounce master after 2 hours of playing
Gears 5 wall bouncing is equivalent to Call of duty slide/bunny hopping. Yes you could do it in the older games, but you could NOT abuse it as much as you can today. They’ve made it so easy to do now everyone can do it, and people leave MP within a month.
That’s why the games all dead it’s already a hard game for new people to get into with all this scary ass movement it makes it to niche only a small majority of good players enjoy it
Been playing since Gears 1 and I have a love hate relationship with it. Wall bouncing has always been an exploit that I both didn't really like but learned to do anyway, but I never understood why it wasn't converted into a better movement mechanic. Just make it juking. Make it something you can do while out in the open too, not just when there's a wall close enough, and make it look less silly and limit it in some way so it's not something you can do endlessly. If they are aiming for more realism, I think they should consider this for E-Day.
Gear's 1 will always be the best Gear's I played hrs upon hrs with friends in our lobby with friendly fire was awesome when a teammate just happened to jump in front of your snipe shot and pop there head 😅 it was like ooops
The Coalition isn't going to keep that hardcore fanbase if they don't keep wall bouncing. Gears has such a strong identity that it can be hard to change it though. With old franchises there's always this tension between keeping the old guard happy and bringing in new fans. The prominence of wall bouncing has waxed and waned over the years as the developers have tried to tune it. They've tried not getting rid of it while not letting it be obnoxiously OP. It was reallyl OP in Gears of war 3 where basically you could bounce as fast as you could push the buttons. This turned out to be ridiculously effective for players with modded controllers or who had a high ping, where they would appear to be teleporting around the map. You could empty entire lancer clips at these people and not bring them down. It was infuriating. Gears 4 instituted a cooldown so that you couldn't just spam bounces endlessly. This slowed down the game and limited the effectiveness of the tactic, and made strafing a more viable option. Gears 5 made the slip speed (going into cover) the same as the walking speed and kept the cooldown of Gears 4. In that sense it's stiill less strong that gears 3. But it also made wall bouncing much more accessible and flexible. You can bounce backwards into cover, for example, which is new.
Also i liked that everyone was on equal footing no weapon upgrades and such if you get the sniper you had to fight for it wish more took this approach to multiplayer
I do not want broken wall bouncing in gears eday. Keep that jank in gears 5... I agree that it breaks immersion and it's alot of weird borderline game breaking techniques to get shots off before jumping and instant shots when leaving cover.. I play Gears 5 alot and have caught myself doing it to counter the crazy bouncers but it just feels cheap and glitchy to me. That's my opinion. And yes it will most definitely turn people off from the new gears if the gameplay mechanics are like gears 4 and 5..
Wallbouncing is good for the game. The hyper zippy movement in Gears 5 is not good for the game. E day should be a lot slower, something between Gears 2 or 3 but wouldnt mind if they went even slower.
I don't want to be negative, I just want to explain how I view things. Personally when I see that article about the increase in the players since the trailer was revealed, I remain skeptical. I say this because whilst that is likely factually true, it leaves out much context for understanding. The ~300% player increase that UE has received on paper sounds fantastic, but without knowing the value then its hard to know just how significant that is. For example, if the game pre-trailer had 500 players, an increase of ~300% would only put it to 2000 players which is still very low. I wish articles used values rather than percentages so that consumers of the article can judge for themselves how active the game is, otherwise it could be merely viewed as "hype". In my opinion, as a bouncer who doesn't want it removed, I admit that it's way too prominent in Gears 5 and I feel that's due to it having adjustments made in order to make it easier for newer players to do it, thus increasing how many people are now doing it. I think that making it harder to do like on older titles, much less people would be doing it To answer your completely correct point about some bouncers winning, some losing. The concept of bouncing is that its a skill, this means some people are good at it and some people aren't. To somebody who doesn't bounce, I can fully respect why this may not be something you can see in-game, but to somebody who does bounce, I can see when somebody knows how to bounce and when somebody knows how to bounce properly. Given the low skill entry for bouncing now, people are able to perform the mechanic with minimal timing and effort but aren't really in much control and so they'll likely lose. When you find somebody who understands the mechanic to a higher degree, they'll be the players who will likely win. I fully admit I'm one of the people who say that "people who dislike bouncing are people who can't do it", and with respect, just based upon what you've said in this video about how you haven't tried then I feel like that makes my comment remain valid here also. Generally when people try it and can do it, it adds a lot more to the game for them and they don't dislike it. It's often people who have yet to experience the enjoyable gameplay it offers who dislike it. I do stand by that... But I respect that you're not out here calling it cheating and I respect that you recognise that it is a skill, so thank you for that Your point about the general audience, I think the flip of it is that the loyal fans are now tired of changes that go against what they wanted and I feel like many would quit and never come back, I am one of those people. I think that's a risk because if the newer audience don't remain populating the game, they could lose almost everyone I strongly disagree about a cooldown meter, I think it needs to have stickier walls if you mis-time a slide, make it have less angles you can slide so that it's not so crazy and easy, make it harder to hit shots when bouncing to reflect the speed. I appreciate the well thought out video, we disagree but you made your point really well. Good video
I do feel like this game is going to change the movement around a little bit because I believe it needs it. The old system is a bit stale and needs a revamp for sure.
I hope they do have wall bounce I use that all the time & hopefully it feels like Gears of war 3 & same with the Gnasher hopefully it feels like Gears of war 3
I don’t think they should change wall bouncing it’s part of the skill gap that keeps the game good. You didn’t need to be a super wall bounce pro to be good. Implement a simple roadie, learn to bot walk, or learn to wall bounce.
easy fix is not allow backslides. the reason wall bouncing is a thing is because you can slide into cover in any direction despite where your looking, just making it where you have to be looking in the direction of the cover you want to slide into. would make wall bouncing a little more difficult and more intentional rn half the people who see wall bouncing are just spamming the A button and right trigger hopping for a kill
In some moderation, maybe. But you see people wallbounce like some god damn tweakers on that booger sugar! Like how is that even enjoyable? Same with people doing similar shit on COD. Like the camera is just constsntly allover the damn place. I'm not a fan of camping on COD etc..but also not a big fan of intense wallbouncing, the COD kangeroo hopping etc..
Idk I’m tired of people complaining about wallbouncing if you aren’t a hardcore player stop trying to take something away from the game especially away from the actual hardcore fans and catering towards all these causals that will drop this game in a month …. That’s all I’m saying…. Wall bouncing is a skill you can learn LEARN IT
A lot of the people that played gears back in the day are old now and simply can’t keep up with these young ass kids slow the game down so everybody can enjoy!
I think a potential counter to wallbouncing that incentivises using it tactically and thoughtfully as opposed to mindlessly (gears 5) is. The faster your bouncing, for each portion of damage you take, a small % of the distance to the next wall is increased, take too much damage then the distance eventually breaks the wall bounce. Similar to stopping power, but rather than slowing you down, its simply your distance is reduced and therefore would require; 1. Choosing optimal times to do it. 2. Using it efficiently to not cheese your way through damage with dodge hitboxes. It creates an environemtn where those that truly are good at it will be able to use it and avoid damage and therefore maintaining the cadence. And then you have those that aren't as good, eventually having their wallbounce cadence broken and bringing the playing field level. And if not this? Then something in a similar vein to this. It may not be perfect but its surely open for adding on and iterating on the ideas. The only other option I have is that while bouncing, your health simply doesn't regenerate or doesn't regen as fast. Similar to Halo 5's sprint mechanic. While sprinting, no shield recharche, and eliminating the cat and mouse scenarios.
