Awesome video!!! I have brain cancer, and as part of my rehab I'm going to try to learn this song (I don't play - at all)... I LOVE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!!! Rest in peace big brother!!! And this video will be invaluable to me. If I can just get that SRV Stratocaster I've got my eye on now... Tee hee hee... Everyone tell Santa what a GOOD GIRL I've been this year!!!
Above and beyond the best tutorial (of any song) I have ever watched. Created an account just to say so. Your precision, your patience, your demeanor...everything. You truly have a gift for teaching. I feel like I owe you money for watching this. A million and one thanks to you, good sir!
Every time I want to learn a new song I always look to see if you have done a lesson for it already because your teaching style is just the best! Plus your an excellent guitarist and your lessons are usually the most accurate ones too! Love this song. Thanks Justin!
I thought you was playing it wrong but after hearing the song for the 10000000th time you are playing it exactly like the time he played it live "one night in texas"!!! Very accurate. Best tutorial of this song!!
Justin, thank you for this. You play so precisely and beautifully, and teach so clearly and accurately. I am so jazzed that I finally have this riff under my fingers, as I think it is one of the coolest ever!
SRV is one of my most favorite guitarists. Thanks for posting this one! BTW, I'm on Intermediate Foundation 2 and I'm loving to learn the guitar again... after a 20 hiatus! Thanks Justin!
One of many things I love about Justin's videos is that he doesn't instantly reach for the volume knob and flick it down every time he stops playing. So many other "pros" do this in their videos I find it so twatty and infuriating for some reason. Thanks for another great video Justin.
Justin: I really appreciate your generosity in sharing your love of music with us. I've done your beginner and intermediate courses and am working through the blues set--the theory lessons are especially appreciated. Come to NM and I'll buy you a pint.
Excellent lesson Justin! I saw a FB vid of a 12 yr old kid playing this and worked out a reasonable facsimile of it but this helps me to put the nuances in there where it needs to be. I will have fun with this one! Thanks once again and I very much like your teaching style.
Hi mate, brilliant!! Was struggling with certain things like mutes, picking (D,D,U etc). You nailed it. Thanks man. Opened up my inner Texan (Bryan, London, UK)
Goodness Justin, guitar is my passion and you have given me the world, I can still remember the day I stumbled across the your beginner's book in a spanish music store 2 years ago. Now I'm jamming and doing shows almost everyday here in Oregon and my dream of living off my music is starting to become more of a reality, all thanks to you, I've never had a teacher other than you. Thank you for making my life such a wonderful melody. Every time you come up with a video like this one I'm reminded of all that! Been transcribing a ton of Tom Waits stuff lately, a lot of his guitar stuff is really faded and my "I Hope I Don't Fall in Love (With You)" doesn't sound as nice as "The Heart of Saturday Night" you did just because I can't hear a lot of the parts, but it still brings that drunk hazy groove into the room wherever I play it . I hope you do some more Tom Waits! Everything you do is amazing, couldn't be more thankful!
super cool lesson..The best of SRV song lesson on the YT. Y you have a gift Justin to make us keep going at it ! Keep it up! Thanks very much! I hope you will have the time to post videos like these in the future!
We love this video. Gorgeous version of the age old Mary Had A Little Lamb children's ditty. Thank you for making this video. Have an awesome week. All the best from everybody at HuggyBoBo 👀🎈
I've seen this played 100 times by Stevie ray on clips n concerts ect often thought about it . So thanks Justin as it's actually more fun than I thought. Infact fantastic there I said it lol. Looking forward to the solo, probably can't pull it of like you mate but will have a bloody good go at it. Thanks again.
Justin, you totally crack me up watching you. You are so into it. Keep on rockin brother! Want to say that your Etta James video is so classic. I recorded playing that song after I saw that video and it sounded so good! Tha ks so much my brother in music!
Why is it that as soon as I put a song on my "to learn" list you put a lesson up on that very song? It's happened three times now in the last month ;-) Great stuff, as always Justin!! Really appreciate all the effort and blisters it takes to put these together.
Great lesson as usual Justin, but I must add that you missed an all important part, the transition mini (2 note) licks between the A7 and E7 during the verse. A good lesson for beginners, but for those who already know how to play this song and want to take it to another level, capturing all the subtle nuances and the spirit of the SRV sound, a more advanced lesson is necessary.
Still making a few noises and cutting corners a bit, but I'm surprised I was able to follow the whole lesson and be able to play it half decently. Cheers Justin, you're the boss.
Justin your the man you've helped me learn how to play the guitar I love your site keep up the good work by far best guitar learning web site out there
I just recently started watching your videos and I love your energy and attitude man. You are a good teacher. On another note, I don't know how you could pull it off, but you have seriously gotta get Norm Macdonald on your channel for a video and have a guitar battle. Kind of like the Will Ferrell and Chad Smith drum off. That would be awesome!
Stevie always tuned down a half a step which gave him more of a jazzy / bluesy sound ..Plus Stevie used super heavy gauge strings 13-56's and that's another reason for his slack tuning..Thanks for the great lesson Justin..
You can just see this guys passion when he plays
i clicked like after the first 30s, don't even need to verify that like with the class content
Justin, Carl, and Marty are all you need.
One of the most complete/correct versions on RUclips...excellent...
