I’ve said it on your other videos, but I believe it’s worth repeating. It’s so rare to see someone with enough talent to actually perform and own the song and not just play it by copying SRV. The ones with less talent can’t think outside the SRV style box and I don’t think anyone could go head to head with SRV and compare….i think you would be the rare exception.
It sounds exactly like srv playing. The tone, the licks. Don’t get me wrong that’s very impressive still srv is a legend
His playing is very good. But let’s be real, he’s doing SRV karaoke. He couldn’t go ‘head-to-head’ with someone whom he’d be entirely copying. It’s like saying someone could match Picasso by doing a paint by numbers version of his art. The creator and the copycat are two very different people.
While I agree with you 100% the skill and time spent repeating is absolutely key here. This is not natural born talent imo, it’s hard work, knowledge, practice mixed with immense inspiration.
I like the take on the song, it’s easily comparable to a composition SRV might have chosen, though it’s not technically difficult to hear what’s going on, it’s intensely difficult to keep the rhythm and lead parts mixed in perfectly like he has here.
Not a knock on the performance but this is also basically taking all of Stevie’s favorite licks and techniques and mixing them together with taste.
@@theanthonyvyes, I agree with you 100%
Dude is skilled, but he’s mixing all of SRVs favorite techniques into one mash of a song, which is impressive and he plays clean and emulates him very well.
But that being said it is still an emulation. He’s just playing every Stevie lick in the book over this track, which I like, but what are you expecting here? Something like Santanas Black Magic woman where the cover of Fleetwood Mac’s song outshines the original so much people forget it’s a Fleetwood song?
@@BarrackObamnaisn't the first part of the solo a cover studio version of the song, and the second part a cover of his live performance? So he really is playing the song the way SRV would've played it.
Players like Sean and Chris Buck are what makes RUclips worth existing
я бы сказал жизнь.
Dear Mr. Mann
I'm 67 a Drummer playing since age 4. I've supported Many Guitarist so far in my 64 years of drumming.
Many I've played with THINK THEY PLAY SRV....
You Sir Have A God Given Talent for Guitar. Your approach to Stevie Ray Vaughan is a Natural Ease of playing
when you Pay Homage to him.
Sure You play From your Heart and Mind and Add to What SRV has laid down. You Don't LABOR or Struggle
when you play.
You put Your Solos next to SRVs solos Both are natural and Effortless. Sure Your Ability as with SRV Didn't
happen overnight. And daily Practice in anything musical has to happen to Stay at a persons current level
of expertise. But to Be a Cut Above and Stand out You Sir have Arrived.
You Have Respect and Class for what You do in SRVs Honor.
Blessings
Darrell
There is. so much dedication going on here. To get the timing , damp, mute, strum, pick attack , sound right, and still play the correct notes. BRAVO.
Cheers John!
This is just incredible! Lots of covers out there and you nailed the attack at 5:27 , which is one of the most pivotal moments (if not the most) of SRVs version of this song.
Thanks Scott!
You're the only one that plays this song exactly like SRV, especially with these strumming/rhythm patterns in the middle. I have to say this song is very difficult and I've been playing it for nearly two years and it's still hard to play without hearing any undesired notes.
Very impressive!!
Also, I purchased one of your courses and I've learned a lot so far. Thanks a lot!!
Thanks! And glad to hear the course is helping! Thanks a lot!
Outstanding! Sincere thank you from a 67 year old blues player. Hands are shot, but heart is still here. God bless you young man.
❤
I’m 70 hands are shot
Sold my stuff to a young man
Wooow 89 austin tx cover, best version of the song, amazing, what a performance, bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks a lot!
I’ve said this before but it is worth repeating. While most (including me) concentrate on your fretting hand, it is your strumming hand that I am most impressed with. I think your style stems more from your strumming hand. It’s so rhythmic and free. Your rhythm to me makes your playing.
Spent a lot of time working on the right hand!
Man, I love SRV since I am 14. Amazing, you're the best SRV player I've ever listened to.
Thanks a lot!!
Dude!!!!! That's the BEST cover I've Ever seen. I also play blues and I am heavily inspired by not only SRV, but also you! Thank you for your videos, keep it up man!
I have no words for that!!! 🤯
Cheers Dave!
Sean Mann your killing it ...😅
Good job
Cheers Mike!
I close my eyes and I can feel the sound and the soul of SRV ! Incredible job ! Thanks for making SRV spirit alive 🙏
just watching your hand playing is enough to bring me joy.
You really do SRVs music justice and that is not something I throw around lightly. I’ve probably listened to your cover of SRV’s Little Wing and Hendrix’s Castles Made of Sand at least 1000 times. I enjoy them both immensely. I still don’t understand how you don’t have a million followers, but I have a feeling it’s only a matter of time. You’ve already tripled the number of followers you have since I first subscribed. The music is great and your production quality is excellent. Keep doing what you’re doing.
DUDE YOU ARE JUST INSANE!!! ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT
Thank you for this. Man I wish I had this groove when I play SRV songs.
Best playing since SRV ever. Tone is on point, timing is impeccable. Bravo.
That solo was just insane, love some of the licks you added in there. Insane cover!
Its a disgrace that you are not up to a 1milion subs yet... congratz on your 100k tho! You are my favourite thing on youtube. 🎉🎉 people can't understand how good is what you do. Tight tight tight and TASTEFUL playing.
Never get tired of listeing to Sean. My absolute favorite thing - no talking, no singing, no gimmicks, no bullshit. Straight up fire playing. Never get bored for 1 second even.
Cheers mate. Love you. You inspire me.
You done SRV proud.. he’s surely smiling!
Wow. Frickin amazing.
Thanks!
that is phenomenal. you have imbided all his rhythmical proficiency which i have not seen anyone else get close to.
You’re definitely one of my favorite guitar players ever!!!😮
Cheers Scott!
This wasn't just a cover of Mary Had a Little Lamb. I heard those riffs you threw in from Crossfire in the first solo. Absolutely wicked cover, my man!! Stevie would approve!
You sir are inspiring, I pratice SRV songs everyday for the past years and I can see all the efforts you need to put in to sound like him.
Excellent right hand rythm, always muting string with left hand, and you incorporate so much of his motifs into his songs.
Keep inspiring us, thanks for that.
You are amazing Sean, very profound blues tones, nice and warm sounds
Never seen anyone do Stevie like Sean does! Simply outstanding Mate!
You have an incredible talent. Perfect execution, modulation and sensitivity. SRV was a genius, so were you.
So I damn well listen to you pretty much everyday now and have all of your tracks on a playlist, added some of Stevie Rays instrumentals to it and hit shuffle and it blows my mind how many times u trick me LOL you are so unbelievably gifted, music has always been the number one thing that helps me through tough times and there's just something so powerful with instrumentals you get to hear the true talent of a person because it drowns out the sounds from the rest of the band... you play so flawlessly and spot on its INSANELY beautiful!!! Much Love!!! 🤘❤🤘
Thanks for listening!
🤘🥰🤘
It seems so easy because you know all the words. But putting words together into a beautiful speech - this is an art!
My goosh…this guy is excellent…to be able to play like that is amazing…thumb up bro…
Even the shirt says Stevie. Killed it !
What a good game dude 💪🏼 bring us more of this
Man, those Fat 50's sound amazing on that Strat! I bet that guitar sounds really good unplugged, really good wood. When you get one that's got the natural vibe and sustain they're awesome. Hold onto that one brother!
Raising the bar yet one more notch here on this one Sean !! 😎👍. Outstanding performance, and your playing is phenomenal as always . I’m so glad I stumbled onto your channel awhile back. You truly are ,in my opinion & apparently quite a few others, one of the BEST PLAYERS to come along in a very long time , and at my almost 64 years of age now , that is the truth. Thanks as always for sharing your talents with us all !!
Many thanks!!
O próprio Stevie Ray Vaughan raramente tocava ao vivo o solo original de Mary Had a Little Lamb do album Texas Flood!! E vocë o fez magistralmente. Fantástico.
You fucken rock dude. Awesome. Finally another srv in the making. I'm a fan!!!!!
Out of all the people that I've listened to try to play similar to Stevie, this guy has it down. Nobody can ever sound like like the original person who came up with a playing style because it's in the persons hands and soul. This guy is so close but still puts himself into his playing. People say your playing Stevies kicks. No one owns licks because Stevie took his licks from many other artist and influences. He listened to Hendrix everyday and you hear it in his playing, you can hear Albert King, well if you listen to his influences you will hear licks from them. It's just like other blues and other musicians you make them your own. This guy Sean Mann is a hell off a guitarist , to think of the time he out in from the time he picked up the guitar,, all the practicing, getting both hands to work together, his ease of staying in perfect rhythm changing from leads to chords the runs connecting the triads and leads together. You say he's copying but he teaches you how to play these things. Even if he was coping SRV, I haven't heard anyone come this close. His playing is effortless , clean and great tone. Damn good articulate guitarist.
Thanks a lot!
nice tone, you can hear your own special tone within srv tone , fabulous
In my wildest Dreams, I'm able to transplant your talent straight into me😂😂. You're incredibile. Im speechless
Been waiting for this cover!!! Unbelievable. Each new cover I’ve been saying “it’s your best” - but…this one might actually be it lol
Haha! Cheers!
Dude you destroyed that... its was like listening to srv son dude🤯🤯
You are SRV. Love it. Saw Stevie 2x and would love to see you play some day. You fn rock it.
Maybe one day!
Hi sean, incredible playing and feel man!! I've seen that you look to austin city limits versions for your covers, the only thing I miss is some fuzzy sounds in your SRV versions, maybe a pedal pawn silicon or sth similar? Keep on jamming lad!
Cheers man!
Never seen SRV respected this way .. WTF guys.. speechless
Gigantic respect 🙏
Great cover, as always👍

Right hand very impressive in all your videos so far.
Absolutely magnificent!

4:28 - 4:50 has a more Mayer vibe than SRV to my ear, which is a nice, too! Fantastic playing, friend!
Nice catch . Definitely sounded mayerish
amazing! I saw there was someone post your video on Bilibili in China.ultimately there were so many people like your videos and speak highly of you!
Another one that is worth a like x1000!! Excellent🎸

🤘
I absolutely love how you incorporated the live version solo on this as it is my absolute favourite. You freakin ROCK man🤘🏼
Golden Buzzer ..,
With extra large fries and extra cheese sauce!!
Netflix movie pls life and times with this dude rockin the close ups . Its Time
The phrasing and accents in the rhythm are simply magnificent, but playing with the pentatonic scale is a great skill, it doesn’t get boring, it’s not like listening to athletes driving arpeggios up and down at high speeds, but not playing music, personally, I don’t do this for more than 20 seconds I’ll listen, you always come up with some interesting rhythmic and melodic solutions, it sounds and listens, and the sound production, everything is super
B😊.
Love it! I spend ages working on the solo from the other video. Great job!
Awesome sir
Somehow, I think SRV himself is watching over your shoulder and smiling 😊!
So good mate, tone skills feel was next level.
Thanks for listening
It's impressive and insean !
Not that you otherwise don't deliver insanely good, but this one feels like you really got into and enjoyed. Seems like it came natural from start to finish and you had fun doing it. Spectacular tone and playing as always.
Tight as a fishes arse and that's waterproof! Gotta find time to log in to Sean Mann Guitar Lessons more often and maybe one day get even half as close. So good!!
I am playing since 1983 and in my opinion you play it better than Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Fantastic! After watching I immediately enrolled in the course
Nice. SRV is still my all time fav guitar player he just had the best note selection and his tone was loud and clear, you play very good indeed and always watching your vids. Great playing sir.
