- This tutorial shows you how to create column charts in Excel 2016. I also show you how to analyze trends by using sparklines. Sparklines are great because they only take up one cell, as opposed to an entire section of your worksheet like a column chart. Yes you can David. As long as the rows or columns of data are next to each other (without any gaps or breaks) you can create a Sparkline graph. Hope that helps.

Hello, great video! I have a question about bringing a sparkline into another spreadsheet. My situation is I have two spreadsheets that are connected to each other. One is internal facing and has all the data and calculations. My other is an external facing sheet that pulls the high level data from the internal facing one for stakeholders to quickly see. I calculated my sparkline on the internal spreadsheet and I'd like to 'bring' it over to the external one. However, when I use = to bring data over, the result is a 0. I think this is because there's no actual 'data' in the sparkline cell. Therefore, is there an advanced way to bring the sparkline image over to the external sheet? As time goes on, I'll be calculating on the internal spreadsheet that will alter what the sparkline. I'd like these changes to be brought over to the external sheet. Thanks for any help you can provide! :) I like making complex data beautiful and easily understood by all so I appreciate your help.

Thank you for watching. This will be difficult for me to solve without seeing the actual spreadsheets. I am not sure that the sparkline data can link between your separate workbooks. You might need to reference the cells in the 2nd worksheet, and then get the sparkline data from those referenced cells. I hope this helps, but I'm still not quite sure how to solve this one. Nope, they are meant to be a single line visual indicator within a cell. Anything more would have to be converted into a chart. I hope this clears it up, thanks for watchign.
You cannot create a Sparkline graph from multiple lines or rows of data. The rows or columns of data have to be next to each other (without any gaps or breaks).
How do you copy the sparkline without copying the formatting to another cell?
Why on my 360 the spark line's is not coming up when I hit insert?
