Very clever. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome!
THANK YOU, this has been a FASCINATION of mine. The safety tips and EXPLAINING WHY the method is the method….
You're welcome!!
I like that......thanks for sharing....knowledge is everything!
Your welcome! Thanks for letting me know it was helpful!
Wow super cool! Thank you for sharing
You're welcome!
Interesting! I will be trying this. Thank you sir.
You're welcome!
very cool , Gotta try that !
Thanks!
Pretty cool
Thanks!
Enjoyed this; thanks
Thanks!
I’m pretty sure that even if a center fire primer is brass on the outside it still has a small steel anvil on the inside. Best jut to punch the primer out and throw it away.
very useful info, thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
I been looking for this
Glad it helped!
Should have turned that lovely spoon into a bracelet!
Is it important to clean and knock off oxides? Like you would before soldering brass for example.
So if I’m wanting to melt the teeth on a stump grinder and re install one what tip # should I use
Hello my dear brother, I want to know if you have 10 grams of silver, how much copper do you add to the silver and how much does it weigh until it becomes 925 karat?
Which flux were you using?
which brand wire silver u use...?
Just a heads up on that solder. Brass ammo casings are an alloy that contains lead. Check the metallurgy of any material that you use if your silver solder will be in contact with food, water or used in jewelry. Super how too for silver solder........
Good point, thanks!
Lead free silver solder rod can made if uses instead ammo casing brass some brass coupling parts what common are used household water line parts and therefore can be found hardware stores relatively cheap.
How did you learn to do so many things? If you’re not making jam you’re building a bee hive! Color me impressed 🙌
I just keep trying to make stuff I want or need. Learning new things is my hobby. Some are just once and others are skills I use over and over. Thanks for the comment!
How to make solder with out silver
Solder for sterling
When I only have hard solder I mix in bismuth lead free plumbing solder.
Thanks for the idea!
Do you need flux to silver solder on copper? We don't use it when using that sil phos 15 brazing rod, which is only 15% silver. It's used for brazing copper pipe
Sorry, I see you already found the video. I do use flux with this solder.
Very ingenious. What is meant by pickling? After you cast the solder wire.
Pickling is soaking the part in a mild acid. It removes the scale formed from heating the metal.
Water with a few drops of acid, preferably Sulphuric acid.
How can determine the easy_medium_hard solder that you just made?
The way the man made the solder can only be in one grade if you want to make hard , easy or extra easy you have to make your own brass which is copper and zinc the more zinc you add the lower the melting grade.
Nice work, some nice tips too, what melting level is this blend,,easy, medium or hard?
I don't really know the melting point. It does melt before sterling and is hard when you cut it, not nearly as soft as sterling.
Thanks, I was referring to the jewelry industry standard ref for silver solders which is extra easy, soft, medium, or hard.
Alger C. Think they say it's the same as hard silver Alger
Thanks for the a very useful information. It is a exactly what I was looking for.
Glad it was helpful!
Interesting and well done video. Can the material be melted with a propane or mapp tourch?
It can, it would just take longer and be more difficult but should work.
Thanks
highly heating 5:53 min. of the smoked ingot before casting is important.
former colleague, sarcmust he never learned..
Thanks for your advice.
What material is the ingot mould made off?
It's made of steel.
Ok Here is my question. Can you use plain old borax from walmart to condition the crucible? "20 Mule Team Borax?
That's what i use!
i would deprime the spent brass first and not contaminate with burned fulminate of mercury
Pretty rare to find any primers that still has fulminate of mercury. They were phased out a long, long time ago. That said, I do agree. Remove primers and any other contaminates.
Hey man can I buy a stick of solder from you?
Don't be lazy make your own.
What happened to your finger?
what U use for flux on the video,
ure video inspired me man..
Look for Stay Silv flux.
What metal is the mold?
Steel
red nick
Just sub 👍 . i do it step by step , but my solder is strong but its a slightly brazier color than my silver. Why .. I use 999 f.s
It's going to be a little yellower due to the brass that you added.
@@SoatMon we as followers , is this a platform to message u if we have a question? do you have email Facebook , Instagram , Twitter or any other other media ? Thank you 👍 it helped i rolled & it looks more silvery color now.
@@SoatMon thank u Sr , finally got it to work . just finished my cuban 🔗 link bracelet for my sons . i have 2 boys , im about to start my 2nd bracelet. 👍
I thought silver cutlery contained steel.
No steel. Sterling is a sliver alloy all the way through. Silver plate will usually be brass or copper that is plated with silver.
You could’ve sold that spoon for $150-250 dollars
I have more. Where could I get $150 to 250?
