Just bought a 981S, it's a keeper. This is my peak porsche, plenty of power for the road, the best sound (gts 4.0 is strangled in the uk), NA, mid-engined masterpiece
I've been driving this exact spec with the PDK and aftermarket exhaust for 15 months now. It's perfect for those who aren't hardcore racers-no track days, drifting, or drag racing-it's an excellent GT daily driver. Sure it's a little low on power and torque but it has that glorious 2.7 flat 6 sound, unlike the 718 generation. You have to remember this is Porsche giving a taste of what it's like to own one of their prestigious sports cars. And they've succeeded in that as I'm already looking at an S/GTS!
I have a 981S equipped with the LSD and you can definitely get the tail to rotate and oversteer. Not as dramatic as an FR car, but it does slide enough to get your blood pumping!
An older Cayman might be an option for eventual replacement of my 22 BRZ daily driver. Something naturally aspirated and responsive but a little nicer so my wife will road trip with me in it. The lack of LSD is a bummer but for GT use I’m not sure it matters.
I bought a 981c 2.7l pdk about 5 months ago while my girlfriend got her gr86. I was literally stunned when I realized how similarly they drive, although cayman handles better grip wise on sharper turns due to the rear tire size, while gr86 has a much punchier throttle response that can surprise you even after owning the car for months. Highly recommend test driving both for yourself, they both have near identical 0-60s in real life environments
Drove a Boxster 2.5 in 2010. It was amazing to drive. (Check my video)Finally after all these years I Got my first Porsche since 7 February. A Boxster 981 2.7 PDK 2014. Quattro Blue colour. Ex, interior, roof and hoops. Love it. Love the PDK. It shifts so fast. The sound of the howling flat six (the last flat six in a base Boxster) is amazing. Thinking about to put in a PSE. It costs 3K. AppleCarplay is coming. Maybe later some 20” Carrera S rims. Hope the weather is getting better soon. Can’t wait to drive it again. Greets

Congrats!

I can respect this as a GT spec for sure

Agree, skill issue as they say lol
You nailed it - these Caymans are excellent, just wish you could trade a little clinical for more character and they’d truly be special.
In agreement. Part of the reason I went emira over gts4.0
Update the steering software to the GT3 file

A solid next move after the BRZ!
How would you say it compares to the GR86/BRZ?
Less playful, more refined, better engine, steering has less feedback but also less on center weird stickiness from the second gee twins

Torque is at 280 nm, not 210.
Can't kick the tail out? My 981S loves to kick it's tail out! More so then my 440i that it replaced.
Cayman is a serious sports car and not drift toy. This guy can't drive for shit, look how he saws at the wheel on low speed corners 😂🤦♂️
