      Roosevelt Island is in Manhattan.
The Borough of Manhattan consists of Manhattan Island, Roosevelt Island, U Thant Island, Randalls Island, Wards Island and Marble Hill (which is connected with The Bronx).

I have rode the Roosevelt Island Tram a few times. Something to mention for those who don't want to pay twice, you can use your Metrocard, or now Omni, for a free transfer to the subway.

Thanks for taking us along on the Tram ride. I loved the views above the east river. 16th liked. I have never been on one. The closest for me was riding the sky ride at the 1964 World's Fair. It cost 75 cents for a one-way trip, which was a lot more than a 15 cents subway fair ride back them

The Portland Aerial Tram is very similar to the Roosevelt Island Tram. It was purpose built to connect the Oregon Health Sciences University campus to the waterfront and streetcar network and is more vertical than linear in its route. Definitely check it out if you're in Portland, OR. The views are great and you can see Mt. Hood on a clear day.

In Dresden, Germany where I currently live there is not but are TWO cable cars: the Furnicular Railway and the Suspension Railway. Fun fact: their 'valley stations' are only some hundred meters or 5 walking minutes apart from each other. The 'mountain stations' on the other hand are on the different hills. Both railways are used by locals as well as tourists. I rode them several times with visiting family members and friends for the sake of the whimsical experience, the nice view over the city and river Elbe and the delicious food of a restaurant rund the corner. Greetings😊

The tram and the island are featured in the 2005 horror movie 'Dark Water'. They've managed to make it all look like a very dark place. Main str. 540 was the main stage for this movie. What a bit of rain and color grading can do. I really need to visit the island to make it a better place (inside my head) 😉

Roosevelt Island is getting more well known and the tram is now over capacity (lines out the station) on many many summer days. It is worth noting that one entire hour of trams running back and forth only has the capacity of about two subway trains.

All my cable-related transportation happened at ski resorts including Chairlift, Gondola, Tramway, and surface lifts, except one Funicular ride in Wellington New Zealand, and the 7.5km-long Gondola ride at Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Cairns, Queensland Australia.

This has been on my list of 'must do things' since I booked my flight to NY back in Feb 🤣 In Cape Town we have a cable car that takes people from the base of Table Mountain to the top. It was built 94 years ago, but the cars have been upgraded over the years and the latest iteration rotates 360 degrees so that everyone in the car can enjoy the views

There are quite a number of tramways and gondolas in the US... People have mentioned Sandia and Portland, but also Atlanta's Stone Mountain and Palm Springs. I've also been on one in China's Zhangjiajie, Hong Kong's, and also Taipei's Maokong. Some are small that seat ~ 8, others can fit 100+. Main difference is in whether it is fixed on the cable or only grabbing onto the cable.

I know Los Angeles also has (or had) a funicular tram that often shows up in old timey film noir movies set in LA

Rode cable car in Vancouver at Expo86, as well as Banff Sulfur Mountain in '83, and Chamonix to top of Mont Blanc in '87.
Rode funicular in Québec city, as well as recently in Manhattan !!! ( 34th street station on the 7 has funicular next to esscalators, instead of elevator)
