Lon, another great review of a great piece of hardware! But I have a question : Is there some variant of this device that allows you to create a truly wireless flash drive, where you have a driver letter (P: for example) that multiple computers can access? I know the Pogo Plug supported something like this in the past, but it appears that feature was dropped.
They have removable memory? I like that. I will have to read the specs to see how big a card will work. I might go and get one of these to use with my smartphones.
Hey, first I wanna thank you, great video, helped me a lot, I think I will buy this stick for me! :) But I got one question: There's another Wireless Flash Drive from SanDisc, the 64GB version, you reviewed it too. But I didn't notice the option to upload photos from my iPhone to the Disc there, is it possible or not? Keep going with your videos, I discovered you today (because I wanted to know more about the Flash Drive), I think I will watch your other videos too, they are great to understand (even for me as a german)!
Is this dependent on an internet connection as well as blue tooth? I take content onto my Ipad and go walking around without internet connectivity. I am quite familiar with blue tooth and use a great set of blue tooth headphones. I am into audiobooks and want to carry my whole collection when I travel. The Ipad holds a great deal, but I have many books and it won't hold everything.
Thanks for the reply Lon, if my main usage is going to be for movies, photos and songs will the flash drive be right or should i pursue the media drive?
Hi. Great review. I just purchased the 32 fb version my question is should I be concerned about the possible data usage my iPhone is using when I see the wheel moving when I start playing music from the sansdisk app? Thanks in advance
64 GB is doable--thought I'd update a previous comment I made here. (I have the 16GB SanDisk Drive). The 64GB drive needs formatting and partitioning. Download and install Easeus partitioning program (free). Insert 64GB microSD into computer. In Windows, right click on drive>format>NTFS>ok. When done, open Easeus, identify the (now NTFS) drive. Be Sure! Highlight it. On top, click Resize, and bleed off 300 MB, as an unallocated partition. Again, on top, click Format, select FAT32. Now, at top left, click 'Apply', and wait until done. Close. Double check drive by right clicking on it>Properties. Should read 59.xx GB, FAT32. Load a vid, safely remove, and check it out in the SanDisk--should read it now. Good luck! David
***** Glad to, Lon! I should add that this works to enable the 64 to operate in my (Rockboxed) Sansa Fuze and ClipZip MP3 players, as well. Thanks for your channel--good work! David
Hey tag me when u answer this question. Can u tell me how good video playback is? And also what about photo viewing I heard it's inconvenient. What about music streaming how is that? Details please specify
You said that the wireless function was disabled when the USB is plugged into the computer. What I want to know is if the USB stick is physically plugged into the computer but the computer is powered down will the wireless function be able to work then? Also if the wireless function is on and you plug it into a computer, it will disable the wireless function but if you power down the computer or remove the USB stick will the wireless function come back on automatically or do you have to restart the wifi manually?
I wonder if i can connect this to a Roku 3 and have a wireless way to send files to the roku to play? I know you mentioned that the wireless shuts off when plugged into a computer, do you think it would shut off if connected to the Roku 3?...I'll buy this week and try it. ~M
Lon I have a question. Forgive my ignorance but I'm not the most technology savey. So the way the wireless stick works is after I install the app and configure the stick to my phone I can transfer music, videos or photos wirelessly to the stick (it can be just layin around on the desk) and the stick doesn't have to be plugged into my computer??? And if i want to transfer whatever is on my stick to my laptop I just plug it into a usb and it should recognize to transfer to storage on my laptop Thanks, BUDDY TAG ME WHEN U ANSWER MY QUESTION! :)
Would it be possible to email a file directly from the usb drive using an iphone? In other words, can you possibly view the drive, click a share button, then select yahoo mail?
Good review, thank you. You helped me with writing my own review of this device. Will subscribe now as you are informative and interesting. Keep it up!
If you were to put a movie on it that you bought off iTunes would anyone be able to view it that connects to the flash drive? Or would it be protected the same a movie is if you were to try and email it to friend or put it on their computer, etc??
Lon- Will this work on a LCD picture frame? My picture frame has a USB port...and I thought I could upload photos to the USB and I would see them on the frame. Is that possible?
Can anyone here tell me if they tried this with a SmartTV. Plugged it in the USB slot and wireless connectivity was still active. Would like to have it plugged in so it can charge, but also have the wireless connectivity ON so I can transfer media to it from phone.
Im looking for a USB stick eg; 8gb with Wifi that i can plug into a PC download a file to the 8gb then wireless transfer it to my phone (Android GS6) is this possible? are there cheaper alternatives? i tried the Xiaomi Portable Wireless WiFi Router Network Adapter USB 8GB Flash Drive (eBay) BUT no English Software that i can Find so its useless. plus you need software in the PC to activate the WiFi. which is also useless as I access many PCs that have limited options and download files for work. Right now im just using an OTG and USB Stick but was looking for something wireless.
Hi Lon, I have a question. I have Google Nexus 7 2nd Generation Tablet, but It has no USB support. I have used third party apps, like the Google Nexus Importer and Total Commander. I am able to access my files, but I always need to copy them to the internal memory so that my game emulators can recognize the Game ROMs. Is there a way that I can specify the path within the Game Emulator and run the game roms from within the flash drive? I did that with my other tablets and my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Of course they a micro SD Card slot so my emulators recognize them right away. Can you help? Thanks.
***** Hi Lon, great review. Since Sandisk just came out with the 64GB version of this they updated the firmware and made it so you can insert a 128GB card into it to expand the possibilities even more. kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8075/kw/wfd
+Xalian V. After reading your comment about having to expand with a bigger SD Card I tried to find the 64G version so I could possibly insert a 128G card but the price on this is too high compare to a newer version of the Flash drive that can go up to 200G but no removable SD card. Since the newer version is cheaper I'll go for the 200G Wireless Stick. 2 Years really made a difference!!! www.sandisk.com/home/mobile-device-storage/connect-wireless-stick Thanks for posting the link to SandDisk site :)
great review! I love when a reviewer shows the product actually working, good stuff :)

Great video man. I have one question. Is it USB 2.0 or 3.0 if plugged into PC?
Great review thx
But I have question how do you charge the battery, and how long does it live?

Which would you prefer Lon, the sandisk flash drive or the sandisk media drive, my main usage will be movies and pictures.

Need special software

Great review! would have been nicer if it were usb 3.0. Subscribed!

Thank you, This is like an external WiFi hdd, like Buffalo Air, as an example.

Hello dear friend.
I forgot my SanDisk password how reset it ?
hi, i was wondering if i can buy the 16GB version and then insert my 32GB microsd card?? :)
okay :) thanks
*****
Hi Lon, great review. Since Sandisk just came out with the 64GB version of this they updated the firmware and made it so you can insert a 128GB card into it to expand the possibilities even more.
kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8075/kw/wfd
To Martin Garcia: yes, you can use a 32 GB, but not a 64GB. (I spent a lot of time trying). Apparently the hardware and/or firmware is specific.
