Join me on my latest adventure as I take my newly acquired Trek Fuel EX 8 mountain bike to the extreme trails of Scotland. In this video, I will be exploring the blue-rated downhill trail called Chutney in Aboyne. I have been looking forward to this moment for a long time but also feeling a bit nervous and unsure about how this bike will handle the challenging terrain.
As I ride down the trail, you will hear my thoughts and feelings about the experience, from the thrill of the steep descents to the fear of falling off on the rocky terrain. I will also share my impressions of the Trek Fuel EX 8 and how it performed on the trail.
Whether you're a seasoned mountain biker or just starting out, this video is sure to provide plenty of excitement and insight into what it takes to tackle extreme trails on a mountain bike.

Nice. I think most MTBers remember those rides in the first year where so many trails that looked easy for other people were just a bumpy ride where you get thrown around like a sack of potatos Enjoy, it gets better and better and much more fun the more you learn. I wish it would stop raining here. It has been almost constant rain for 3 months now.

8 years of enduro MTBing, which I loved, and I can tell you this Rusty - after just 8 months of gravel riding and there is no comparison. Gravel riding rocks!
On a side note - it was hilarious watching you on the trails, reminded me how I was 8 years ago 😁Excellent stuff.

@@RustyRidesGravel If you enjoyed that you should consider doing the Dirt School Trail Craft Course at Glentress for a day. I did this 2021 and it was really good.

I did wonder if you'd ever try mountain biking... and now you have! I'm the inverse - a mountain biker who's considering dabbling in gravel. Anyway, glad you enjoyed your mtb experience. I'm sure in no time you'll be hammering around the technical trails in Moab 😜

I loved it, but don't plan on binning off the gravel trails for the trail center any time soon. What I did find was that it's great for teaching me about handling a bike in tricky terrain. So I will do more learning from that point of view for sure!

one good reason to do the mtb trails etc is that your off road skills will improve over time and in the long run that will improve how you ride the gravel bike too, win win

Top tip stay loose ie relaxed on your mtb and turn your Garmin mount inwards incase you've a OTB you don't want to damage your Garmin gps

That's good advise! I was trying to stay loose and 'elbows out' but fear tool over a few times. Also I will reverse the Garmin mount, I hadn't considered that 👍

A day on a bike is always a good day. Try to get out regularly on your MTB bike, it's the only way your skills will improve. With the longer days, maybe get out locally in the evening and session some features. A skills course is a good idea or try some pro tips on RUclips. Then practice, practice, practice.

You did really well Rusty, for being, dare I say it, Rusty lol, MTB becomes more dangerous when you lose that fear, too much confidence is every MTB'ers downfall. So please be careful 🤙

This is just a bit too techno for us oldies, yawn. Suspension is for people who dont know how to get out there and have a good time.
