Eli Drinkwitz To Florida? Not Happening, Gators!

- Despite rumors and public odds about a potential move to Florida, Drinkwitz seems firmly rooted in Columbia. This episode explores why Drinkwitz is likely to stay put, focusing on his novel running back strategy featuring Nate Noel, Marcus Carroll, and Jamal Roberts. Also, Drinkwitz's clock management skills, with a spotlight on the Boston College game. Additionally, I examine Mizzou's potential talent fee on football tickets and the ambitious $250 million north end-zone project set to break ground on November 30.

Mizzou has given Drink everything he's asked for. 9 million a year, no competition in state for talent in terms of Division 1 teams. Roll tide love the show John
Mizzou has given Drink everything he's asked for. 9 million a year, no competition in state for talent in terms of Division 1 teams. Plus Drink has built this from the ground up, no way he's just gonna hand that to someone else.
Goes away next year with mo state
@@johnmackshighlights8103true, but not really 😂
@@johnmackshighlights8103It will take decades for MO State to be a legitimate threat to Mizzou as far as taking in-state elite talent from them. There about to be FBS, but they won’t be Power 5.
As a Gator alumnus living in STL, and enjoying Mizzou’s great run (became a fan watching James Wilder), hoping we get Gruden.
Realistically, if Eli did the exact same his first 3 years in Florida as he did at Mizzou. He would've been fired. They don't have that kind of patience to build a program
Yes I agree that’s with most programs to in the SEC not just a top program like Florida
It could be a temporary job that would have someone packing and looking for another job in short order.
Missouri recruits from and pulls guys in Transfer Portal outta Florida just fine.
How many St. Louis area targets are you going to pull in Tallahassee?
Drink is killing it in CoMo.
That was a 4 year rebuild.
Why in hell would you start over there and most likely tank your career and reputation?
Money only gets you so far, not like the man isn't getting paid at the University of Missouri.
Loyalty and trust will take you so much further with your fans and Players
He would have to get an A&M - Jimbo Fisher offer from UF. Thing is Drink hasn't experienced the same level of success as Fisher....yet. He is currently tied for 9th highest paid coach at 9M. I wouldn't be surprised if he receives a new contract at Mizzou putting him in the top 3-5 after this season.
@@chadkeevenIf Mizzou makes the playoff, you write Eli a blank check.
I could see Florida going for someone like Barry Odom to replace Napier, he's done a great job at UNLV and obviously has some SEC experience, and wouldn't cost a ton to bring him in, low risk high ceiling move for UF
Jimmy Sexton is the agent for a good share of the SEC coaches. Who knows if it is even for Drink.
Briefly looked into his client list, essentially he is believed to represent roughly 50% of the coaches that their teams are currently ranked in the top 15. I would be more confused if UF doesn't speak to Sexton at some point.
Why can't someone stay at Mizzou and make them one of the great college teams. Dan Devine was close and Gary Pinkel was very close until his illness.
I think Eli can.
@@LockedOnMizzou Agreed, Missouri is a sleeping giant and Drink is tapping into it.
because the two main factors to be a top 5 program in CFB are location (near Florida and Texas recruiting hotbeds) and money. Drink has done just about as good as one can do in the midwest with Missouri and without the money of a team like Ohio State.
There is no mystery to Cameron Keys having played. He did play against BC. I saw it on the telecast and then double checked it on the participation stats.
I guess the mystery is then why are they both wearing 29 when they both play defense? or is the roster wrong? Does Keys actually wear 29?
Is it going to rain Saturday?
What do I look like, Doppler Dave?
@@LockedOnMizzou 🤣🤣🤣
Why would Drinkz or Kiffin either one consider Florida? Both of them already have top 5 ranked teams or close .Why would u start over..
Agreed.
LATERAL MOVE
Ha!
Keep on twisting that blade, John.
Bless you man.
MIZ
Gotta stir that pot!
This will be my first game at Faurot Field in over 15 years..What's changed? What's to do around there on game day? Ik Shakespeares is a must..But .Are the premium seats good seats?is it a good view? Just wandering
Alcohol served, and no one takes cash! Also, no vendors walking around.
@@LockedOnMizzou no cash
@LockedOnMizzou Announcers messed up Cameron Keys, Jacobs was the only #29 on Defense for the BC game. According to PFF, Keys doesn't have any snap counts for the BC game. As far as the rule for player numbers in College Football.....Players can share the same number, they just can't be on the field at the same time. i.e. Cameron Keys and Khalil Jacobs cannot both be on the field at the same time wearing #29. HOWEVER.....Players can change their jersey number, DURING the game, as long as the player reports to the ref when entering the game. This is for College, NFL is different.
Yeah, I'm aware of the duplicate-number rule, which I why I asked about the two having the same jersey number according to the official roster. I've never seen two players on the same side of the ball with the same number. That's why I used the Cook/Norwood example of them both wearing 12.
Ope, let me clairfy, based on what I looked up, you were on the right track with duplicate numbers. As far as I know, you can have 3 WRs with #81, but only 1 of those players can be on the field at a time. If you wanted 2 of those WRs on the field at the same time, one of them would have to change their number. Does that make sense?
It does, but what doesn't make sense is why Mizzou would have two guys wear the same number on defense.
@@LockedOnMizzou Correction on my part. Starting in 2020, no more than 2 players can share a number on a team. So my example above is still good, just reduce by 1. Also I'm seeing that duplicate numbers can't be worn by the same position.
My assumption for the Keys and Jacobs situation is that Keys is going to be redshirted and they don't anticipate him playing much this season. PFF has him at 6 snap counts against Murray State and that's it for the season so far. If Keys is playing next year more and Jacobs is still around, then I'm guessing one will change there jersey number.
@@LockedOnMizzou You're right though, it doesn't make much sense and doesn't seem to be common to have dup numbers on the same side of the ball. This is also probably why the announcers messed up.
Start construction on November 30th? No hopes of hosting a game in the Playoff? Can't a guy dream?
I'm thinking they could put it off a week, but I like how you think!
I will help build it if it means it gets done faster
First they should go after the hurricane coach. You cut down Miami in state plus he's a good coach. Second Drink ain't leaving the new stadium is coming too. But if so Dan Lanning is from KC use some of the money whoever would owe us on buyout and make the big hire.
Missouri has something that no other university, and that's Walmart $$$.. MIZZOU is a real player in the NIL game.. Florida is a dumpster fire right now
I hope Drink is here for the long term but if he makes the SEC Championship/playoffs this season it'll be hard to resist an opportunity in the future from a top program. The Florida situation is currently a mess but it's still in a hotbed of recruiting talent and a highly successful program. Plus, the way LSU is barely getting by, Ryan Day cannot win big games in OSU, etc. you may find Drink in a short list of names for a premier job in CFB in the next year or two. A bit homerish to believe he'd stay here especially given Cook, Burden, Wease, etc. are gone after this one.
I never said anything about any job other than Florida, but sure, jam words down my throat!
There are jobs out there that would be "good career moves" (did you even hear/understand that point?), I just don't think Florida is one of them.
@@LockedOnMizzou I’m not jamming words down your throat or speaking of you directly. Other comments mention him never leaving Mizzou. Learn to not take everything personal, pal. You get really defensive in the comments for no reason at all.
Forgive me, when someone comments on my podcast, I think they're talking to me. You also said the word "you", so I hope you can understand the confusion.
Also, people are regularly complete a-holes here, so if I'm defensive, that's why.
I don’t think he has enough star power for them
Billie Napier came from Louisiana. Eli is more well known nationally at this point than Napier was in 2021.
Eli isn't going anywhere
I think if Kiffin or Drink gets offered by Florida I think they’ll go
Nah, Florida's last hire came from Louisiana. They can't shoot that high.
Why would drinkwitz leave a future dynasty in mizzou. Trust me its coming
Eli Drinkwitz? The Florida fans I know want Lane Kiffin. When Paul Finebaum and crew went to Gainesville recently they commented on how the fans that had gathered for the show were chanting "We want Lane, We want Lane". Nothing about Drinkwitz. I'm not a Florida fan, and no disrespect to Drinkwitz, but I would rather have Kiffin also.
Unfortunately for Florida, there is really zero reason for either Kiffin or Drink to leave their current jobs.. so it’s likely a moot point anyways.
UF has some serious issues with their administration that they better clean.. and they’d be smart to start with that before their next hire
Kiffin absolutely sucked in the NFL. He got exposed. He MAY get exposed this year. No reason his team shouldn't make it to the playoffs. The only thing he has to do is coach. See how it plays out.
@@Hey_Blinkin Meh... so did Urban Meyer. Some coaches are just made for the college game.
@@toddmarshall2726 Don't forget, typically when a new coach is hired someone was fired, and it's partially because the roster isn't all that great. Raiders had 4 consecutive seasons with no more than 5 wins in a single season before Kiffin was hired. Jaguars had 12 total wins over the 3 seasons before Meyer was hired. To be fair, Meyer probably wasn't ever going to make a good NFL coach though. #DontKickTheKicker
@@toddmarshall2726 he's not the "genius" you all think he is. He's an average coach. He had NFL talent and won five games his entire career. All you have to do is coach in the NFL. There's no player development. In fact, if you look back at the scores, his teams rarely scored more than a few TD's per game. Dude's never won anywhere. Bama under Saban is his whole claim to fame, he's won nothing on his own, ever. Urban Meyer won several national championships. Not even comparable. Now, could he have grown since then, maybe? But twenty plus years of track record says differently.
He leaves MIZ he not going to Florida it will be a top 4 school
It's not "Old Miss", it's "Ole Miss".
I literally have never said "Old Miss" in my entire life.
I think he’s “only” making 6 million a year. He has worked too hard to get the Tigers where we are to give all that up.
$9 million
It's 9 million.
Money talks!!!!!!!!! I hope not
I mean, Florida is a better job than Missouri.
I don’t think you can honestly say that anymore. Mizzou is on solid footing and improving every year. Florida has been a dumpster fire for a long while now.
You’re clearly not a mizzou fan but you follow the locked on mizzou? How 💩y is your life that you waste time following a team you don’t even like 😂. True definition of a loser.
Not currently it's not - UF has got some serious internal issues among its administration right now (that directly impacts a head football coach's ability to do the job), their facilities are nice, but also a bit outdated compared to their perceived rivals (Bama, Georgia, etc.). Plus they have to compete against Miami, FSU, UCF, etc for recruits and resources in state. Our proactive NIL strategy and recent success are also advantages we have over the Gators right now...
@RonSammons Hahahaha, you're kidding, right? Missouri will never be the job Florida is, no matter how you try to spin it. That's like saying Missouri can compare to OU not going to happen. Florida is the better job not even cloae.
@@craigmorris3055 Never said anything about OU, and the Gators are clearly not the Sooners. If you’re a Florida local like I am, maybe pay closer attention to the ongoing dumpster fire in Gainesville. No worries though, no spin needed for us to keep beating UF. 🤷♂️
