Japan’s annual Hiwatari or fire-walking festival is held on the second Sunday of March at a temple on Mount Takao, west of the capital Tokyo on March 13, 2022. The ceremony at Yakuo-in Yuki-ji involves practitioners of Japan’s Shugendo religion walking through embers to pray for world peace, protection from misfortune and good health. Shugendo blends elements of Shinto, Buddhist and Taoist practices.

i did this when i was 14, but it was a 2 meter fire walk. i was dumb enough to wash my burning feet with water and made the burning worse and got blisters which lasted for 2 weeks. it was a tradition for new students in the martial arts of silat.

I did this 5 meters fire walk with burning charcoal, my feet burned for 2 weeks because the charcoal too hot it sticks to your foot print and the smaller ones even got inside the skin
For me this is not really needed, I believe you do not need to harm yourself to prove your point.
I did the same but I got no injury. I think you should use certain types of wood and wet your feet a bit before walking.

@@_hunter_hunter1048 I do the 100 mile lonestar trail a few times a year here in texas and about once ever 2 years the John Muir Trail.
I plan to take on the CDT next year and also fly to japan and participate to become a full Yamabushi
We don't hike barefoot and I have yet to walk on hot coals as I'm saving that experience for my Japan Trip

Their chants are similar to Sanskrit style chanting. I ❤️🇯🇵. 🇮🇳❤️🇯🇵. But unfortunately yesterday a strong earthquake hits Japan. I no Japan have most experience of earthquakes so for sure they will manage in countering earthquakes.
