I was raised in Catholic boarding schools. During this time, and after, either I was an Alter boy or a member of the choir. When I listen to the Missa De Angelis, I get very emotional, and I almost feel like crying at the fact that the Church has done away with the old and beautiful Tridentine Mass. Very sad.
We still have Tridentine almost every Sunday year-round at our college/parish, and Missa de Angelis and Missa Jubilate Deo are the main Mass settings we use, at both TLM and N.O. Missa de Angelis still remains my all-time favorite Mass setting ever, and I learned it in grade school in the 2000s, back when even liberal-ish parishes still used the Latin chants.
@@SnowySpiritRuby I came to Australia in 1971. I went to the nearest Catholic Church to where I was leaving, and I was surprised that the Holy Mass was celebrated differently. I asked the priest what happened to the traditional, Tridentine Mass, he replied: the Church doesn't use it anymore. I was honestly shocked. I eventually married a Coptic Orthodox woman, and we decided to attend Mass in a Coptic Orthodox Church, ever since.
in italy they make you sing this, I've sang with the crowd because the don "the priest" made us sing, a female sang the solo parts and the smell of incense made it go back to the old days.

Hello! May I use this music video as one of my learning resources for my learners? I am a teacher and currently making a digital module for my topic: "Music of Medieval Period"
This is not from the medieval period, but from the Renaissance. All unison liturgical catholic music can be called "gregorian chant", but they are not necessarily medieval. This is an example of "neo gregorian", music composed more or less in the same style as the ancient melodies, to go well with them in the same liturgical setting. This piece has a distictive tonal, major character, instead of modal. Defenitely not an example of medieval chant. Kyrie IV, cunctipotens genitor Deus, is one of the most popular in the Middle Ages. A much better choice. And this channel does not have the rights to this recording. This is the Schola Gregoriana Mediolanensis, cond. Giovanni Vianini. You should contact him. He also has a channel here on RUclips.
Hi! I am trying hard to find this music to buy it, but I couldn't. Can you send it to me somehow in good quality. This is very very important to me. Thank You!
until we got a new vicar in 2013 who changed the setting my local CofE church used to use this place of the normal "lord have mercy upon us" response, I'm not quite sure how and why it came to be used but seeing that that particular church has always been "high" since the 1930s it was probably introduced by somebody with an interest in Gregorian chant. the new setting was ok but as it lacked the musicality of this it felt very dirge!.
Why didn't they sing each three times, for a total of 9 times? Just wondering - it would have been complete. Somehow just singing it twice, seems incomplete - because there is a Holy Trinity - three times for each

I attend mass in Vancouver and they use the Missa de Angelis at our parish!! I'm here to learn it.
It is still alive and growing around the world. The traditional youth pilgrimage to Chartres Cathedra for French youth was bigger than ever.
Once I listened to a large choir of children singing this Kyrie, and the rest, all other renditions pale in my mind. The kids sang it with great gusto
This is the most divine Kyrie Eleison I have ever listened to for my whole life
I prefer Orbis Factor. That's an amazing melody - ornate and melismatic as well, but with purpose.
Actually this one was sung by Angels to St. Gregory the Great, that's why is called Kyrie di Angelis

Funny how i, who grew up in a Christian family, have never heard this in any of the churches ive been, but instead it took a cute little mobile game.

잊혀진 신들을 위한 키리에
미카는 마녀가 아니야
This one is to new mass, only 2x for Kyrie and Christ. The correct is 3x.
As we know... in the new mass everything is the skimped version. "The quicker the better"
Actually, it can be chanted 3x in both forms (Ordinary form and Extraordinary). The Missal of St Paul VI provides this possibility.
come from bluearchive and mika☆
Bro that song was the original kyrie from around 12th century 🗿
