I just LOVE Mozart and his piano concerto nr 17 is one of my favorites! Especially the third movement is very special to me. During a diffiicult time this movement helped me and gave me strenght and hope! Pure JOY !! Thank you for sharing!!
The sound of both oerchestra and soloist is very nice. They ideally complement each other. the tempos appear me the right ones, in synergy with Mozart's music and expression.
The sound is lovely and the tempo is about right, not sped up as some commenters have stated. However, the pitch is about a semitone too high, so that the music appears to be in the key of A Flat instead of G. User "Sviolinist" is correct about the pitch being lower in Mozart's time, but he/she is mistaken about the effect: if the piece were being performed with instruments tuned to the "standard" pitch of Mozart's time, it would appear to our ears to be in G Flat, a semitone lower, not in A Flat, a semitone higher. (A semitone is a "half-step" to Americans, BTW).

I'm quite certain that this is Alfred Brendel (piano) and Neville Marriner (conductor), Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. I heard that performance in another youtube video (which later disappeared), and it sounded identical to this.
For about three years Mozart kept a pet starling. The opening theme of the third movement of his Piano Concerto No. 17 in G, K. 453 is presumably whta he taught to the bird to sing. According to Mozart's transcription, the starling incorrectly inserted a fermata on the last beat of the first full measure, and sang G sharp instead of G in the following measure.
Ah, excuse my ignorance for this genre of music but I've been listening to this for minutes and it relaxes me. I have heard that Mozart's pieces does have some effect on us depending on our circumstances so may I ask what does this piece do?
You have perfect pitch. Snap out of it. It's not in A-flat it's in detuned G. You know, Mozart's real key. You're basically saying "I don't like how Mozart heard it. Sounds stupid."
Mozart would never write a piano concerto in A flat major. At the end of the day G major in Mozart's day was closer to our A flat major (modern tuning)

Third Movement, very special …
What do you think of #22 and #27?
along with the 22, two of the most underestimated concerti. high talent high beuaty and high enchantment
That ending to the third movement! I can imagine Mozart laughing as he wrote it!
First movement: 00:00
Second movement: 11:26
Third movement: 21:40

i completely agree, concerto 22 is my favorite mozart piano concerto and it is usually forgotten for the more famous 23.
there are no words to express feeling while listening this music
À la Gloire de Dieu.
This is my all-around favorite piano concerto from Mozart.
Once again, Mozart, the master, at work!

This piece is very optimistic. I can whistle it all the day.
I'd pay to hear that.
:D
out of options for my headache, let's try some mozart
the most incredable music ever written. Meo gusto. Thanks!

Definitely music good for resurrecting a dormant pineal gland! Praise the Lord!

Tubby Lumpkins Wow, thank you.
@@vangel1443 This is a work of a master pianist and a superb (chamber?) orchestra.
Think u r right, this certainly a male pianist, and the orchestra could very well be St.Martins...
omg love this channel
Mah nigga Mozart likes to turn up! goddam dis mah jam!!
Wow absolutely agree, this sounds like it is in the key of A flat major
Thank you very much!

That major to minor modulation at 5:22!
Smart move, using the subdominant major
the best of the best!

Despite its surface optimism, this is a dark, troubled work -- particularly in the first and second movements.
No it isnt, why should it be?
It doesnt need to be troubled to be great music. Snob.
@@ignacioclerici5341 Straw man. I made no such claim that great music must be troubled.
Whatever gets you through.
@@ignacioclerici5341This piece is indeed troubled. It's about commemorating Mozarts dead bird.
Is it here where we can listen to the singing of a starling? Thakns a lot for the vídeo.
como mozart não tem igual!
Una maravilla de principio a fin, y esa coda del final, sublime
ИДВАХ ПРИ ТЕБ И ФИНИШ НЕЕ ИСТИНА.
@Christopher Souter
I believe they tuned closer to 442 in Mozarts time opposed to todays 440.....they tuned higher not lower.
no, it was lower. "A" sometimes was around 418.
beautful. earsex. ive never had my mind so thouroughly soothed. its like abrain massage.

Who did Mozart's sunglasses? They're cool!
Julie Gill Ray Ban
Good one!
So if this orchestra tuned to the pitch of Mozart's time this would sound like G# or A flat.. a half step higher.
lovely
Did you transpose this?
It's kinda annoying how this recording is in A-flat major not G major... I have trouble following my score
You have perfect pitch. Snap out of it. It's not in A-flat it's in detuned G. You know, Mozart's real key. You're basically saying "I don't like how Mozart heard it. Sounds stupid."

it does :| can't unhear

yup, that would be theme of the last movement.

ottima interpretazione, ti piace il pianoforte?????
ВИЖДА КАЗВА
Has anyone here ever heard the rumor that he wrote this piece for his pet starling
❤
Dang near B flat maj to my ear🤔
The tuning of Mozart's day was lower. G major is closer to a modern Ab in sound.
Which do you think is better Mozart's time tuning or today's one?
Of course we don't know how it would sound by accuracy.
역시 모차르트다움
I love that one best is what I meant
tengo el disco y es mas deliciosa "Andate" aunque esta versión tambien fue muy subjetiva
НЯМА ПРОБА НЕВЕРУЮ.
El segundo movimiento es el más espiritual
G?? ...
It sounds in As-dur
why do they do this? G major is so much easier to read
.......you've just said it! ???
Everything's half a step higher ugh lol rename this to mozarts piano concerto in A-flat major
Mozart would never write a piano concerto in A flat major. At the end of the day G major in Mozart's day was closer to our A flat major (modern tuning)
