Update 2 weeks later: I was literally sitting in my living room, making a noose, and planning, saw this video and posted the above reply... Next day, I had multiple replies to my post by people that do not know me but, thanking me for my service and asking me to not go through with my 'plan'. For two weeks now I have come back and read your replies, and it means something to me to read those replies. Thank you all for your words and the 'feelings' you have posted. I will not say that I am cured, I am not, I am still one 'bad day away' but I have a new weapon to use against that 'bad day' and it was given to me by all of you, HOPE.... thank you all
Update week 3: I do know God and my savior is Jesus, it is my absolute fear of burning in hell, for committing the sin of suicide ( i am judging NO ONE with that statement ) that is MY belief, and it has forced me to stay here many times.. My family is... mostly gone, I am the youngest of 5, but actually having contact with them is a 1 or 2 times a year phone call, mostly my fault. But not a close family, I have a daughter that is 33 now, she lives in Osaka Japan, and when she was only 16 months old my ex-wife took her and her two sons back to Okinawa, ( while was deployed ) NIS would not help and other "Law Enforcement agencies" also would not help, I found them once when she was 12 and dropped everything to fly to Okinawa to try to become part of my daughters life, that did not work out. Found her again 5 years ago, online on FaceBook, and got to speak to her and exchange photos, I got photos of my 2 granddaughters, they like their mother are so beautiful!!! and then one day she deleted her FaceBook and moved from Okinawa to Osaka (she was going through a bad divorce), I have 2 friends neither of which are Veterans, and they both have families so me being single, it is hard to 'hang out' with them. Also I do not have any social media accounts, do not trust any company that much...
Why all this info. because many have made statements, about family and God, so I just wanted you all to know I am still here, I am still fighting, but the spoon I am using to dig out with, is very small.
I do come here and read the post that everyone makes, and I am humbled by the outpouring, from all of you!!!! Thank you all!
Update 1 month: I have no words, you all have gathered, to pass me well wishes, I wish I could respond to each of you directly, personally, and yes I would hug each of you if I could, but with 449 replies that would be a monumental task, I do read each and every reply, and I try to " Like " each reply, but it seems RUclips has a limit to the numbers of " Likes " one can issue on a thread. I click them and then when I come back the " Like " I left is not there, I have to do it a few times to make it stick.
Now to all of you that have lost someone in your Life, someone that served, some that paid for freedom ON the battlefield, some that came home and then.... passed.... GOD BLESS YOU!!! May HE take all your pain and loss away... May you remember the joyous times that you shared with that person, and forget the hurt!!!
I know my story is not the hardest, I also know I have it better than many in the world do, I was not trying to say, I have it worse than any other, my original post was a Thank You to Tom, His video and music stopped me from doing something, that I have no right to do, So again, Thank You Tom MacDonald for your message, in your music!!!
Many of you have stated you wanted to make contact, I am not on social media, I only had a FaceBook Account, because I found my daughter in Japan had one, and hoped I could connect to her there, when she deleted her facebook, I also deleted mine.
Because of all your well wishes, I finally reached out, and I now have weekly video chats with a VA Psychologist, not sure how this will go but, one step....

Update 6 weeks: Because of all the love, you all have sent. I am fighting back now, I allowed my self to become over weight and weak, which actually made the daily pain worse, and made my thought process much darker, I have set up an alarm that plays Toms Music to wake me up each morning, and I work out each morning now too, allowed myself to get so weak I could not do 10 push ups, when I started... now 2 weeks in I can and do 3 sets with other activities, after, IE burpies, mountain climbers, and free weights...
I am not out of the forest yet, but more than half way through it!!!!!
I do not know how to tell you all how much it meant to me, your comments and outpouring of love and respect!!! YOU ALL have saved one Marine from becoming a statistic!!! THANK YOU!!!
Update 1 year + later: I am still fighting, my health has taken a turn for the worse, had a minor surgery 2 weeks ago, and a major surgery planned for April 20, ( surgery number 32 ) will be loosing a couple more feet of my intestine, and having all the abdominal mesh I currently have in me removed and a one covers all piece put in. This is a new type of mesh that my body is supposed to scar trough and make the abdominal wall stronger, it will be the 14th time I have had mesh put in me... Have not been able to work for several months due to pain and well, faulty bowels... Not sure how long recovery will take but I have no current income, so by time I have finished recovery from this next surgery, the Bank might be here to take my house away... If that happens I guess I will go deep woods and see just how good my survival training was!!!

Just happened to see your comment & felt compelled to send you a little note....Just to let you know there's an old lady out here who is hoping you've been successfully managing the tough road to sobriety. I have the genetic 'demon genes', as do all my siblings & most of my ancestors. Fortunately, my own dependantcies didn't keep me from being a functioning member of society, but my dad, brothers & nephews haven't been able to escape the wraths of polyaddictions. And, realizing now, at 70 yrs old, that even though I've functioned & never got into any trouble....I could've far exceeded in my career & personal life had I not been 'using'....
So. Hang in DallasTaylor! You can still make your Momma proud & you absolutely can Win The Fight! I hope you're surrounded by people who want you to Win & will support your efforts & lift your spirits when you're going through the tough stuff.

This song unlocked those cages in my mind, and brought me to tears..honestly in a weird way that brought peace to my heart..I can't really explain it, but thank you Tom..this world needs you!

This song actually saved my life. I remember thinking that's it's I'm done. I was like that's it I am done I'm not worth it. Then this song came on and all i could was sit down and cry .this song came on when I was at the worst part of my life. And I told myself I think my guardian angel was sending me a sign saying no you aren't done yet. And I think it was my brother and sister who passed away from a drug over dose. So I think they were both sending me a message. I have two guardin angels that are keeping me here.

I'm a 32 year old disabled vet. Dealing with constant pain, tryin my damnedest not to get addicted to the pain pills they keep trying to give me, tryin not to think about ending it all. This hit me hard. It was like you were singing to me. Damn near made me cry man. You keep going, don't ever stop.

@@leonc9760 thank you. he got caught up about a year ago but they released him and he just had his court date where they told him he's gonna get a year and a half in jail. I hope he does. He says he's going to fight the charges but nothing will come from that. I'm not sure when sentencing is. I just want him to get better for his kids. 😔

I'm praying for your brother; not empty words. I was so far gone in addition anything to numb so much pain. My poor kids thought I loved the drugs more than them. In my active addition I 100% thought I was only hurting myself even as they sat by me while I slept making sure my heart beat and I kept breathing. The shame and guilt I feel for that will never go away. I never saw myself being sober but I am now almost 7 years, that guilt and shame help keep me sober. On the other hand none of my kids (I have 4) became addicts because they saw the very real unglamorous side of it. The majority of the people I partied with are sober now as well (I wish they all were) but when I say we were a huge gang of addicts noone saw anything but a coffin or prison in our futures I'm not exaggerating. So I'm telling you that to give you this hope the fact that so many of us found and have kept sobriety, there is hope for your brother. If 30+ addicts could find sobriety and thrive with jobs, family ect and become productive members of society instead of a drain on it. Hope is never lost. I personally have kept my personal circle very small since to help keep my sobriety, I keep an eye on them through FB and they are living great lives now. So never give up hope and I believe God put Tom and Nova on this path because they are bringing healing to more people than they will truly ever know. I believe I went through what I did for a reason too. I don't have a platform, following or talent. But my experience has put me in many positions to help others by being able to really emphasize and it kept my kids from that path, they're ( my kids)able to emphasize with people whose moms are addicts and show them proof that it can change also help them understand the addict doesn't love the drugs more than them so they don't follow the path of burying their pain and continuing the cycle. Sorry you didn't ask for my life story and I'm realizing at the end of this book I just wrote you, I probably should have made it a separate comment and still try to give you hope. I'm sorry 😞
@@beautifulwaterfall9931 I'm so happy to hear you found your way out and incredibly happy for your kids. 🥰 I have no contact with my parents because neither of them could get their shit together and be parents. My brother lives with my dad and they get high together. My mom was an addict too but the thing she did that hurt me most was to send me to my dad's knowing the environment I would be in. Don't get me wrong her addiction was bad too, but my step dad helped me a lot. Me and my siblings used to talk about how we didn't want to be what out parents were. My sis is my dad's "caretaker" and she sticks up for him and says he does meth responsibily.. whatever that means. My brother is on meth and heroin. I hate the drug. I miss my family. But now I'm breaking generational cycles and my kids will know where we come from and I pray I can stop it happening to them. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm so proud of you ❤
If he only knew how many lives he has saved and/ or changed, wow..... to be honest his music is what got me through my recovery, when things would get rough I would listen to his songs and it would remind me what I was doing and why was doing it, it was an inspiration, I pray he knows these kinds........ this guy is very unique, extremely unique, I really hope he knows how much good he's done.... I attempted suicide, my closest cousin committed suicide and my son he's 27 has been struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. 💔 We are all fighting for his life and happiness everyday. @@jasonmatthews4449 to a degree...the answers we seek are always there... however we tend to pay attention more to the real reasons for the problem ,when we are forced to make a choice....and that for a lot of people is usually when everything is online.
@jason Mathews the angels that guide us are always there but they only tell the truth, and those truths can only help us if we choose to see it, hear it ,and believe it. So at the moment when we are one step short of the point of no return and most likely oblivious to it ... angels are there... with hand extended. Sometimes all it takes is a pause long enough to just consider taking it that makes all the difference.
My husband has 111 days sober today. Thank you for being the 1 rapper that says don't drink don't do drugs. Thank you for representing the addict community and opening peoples eyes about how easy it is to become addicted. Even those with perfect lives can become homeless addicts. I'm sorry to hear that. My grandmother passed away on Christmas morning a few years ago, I've honestly hated Christmas since then. I can't say that I know exactly how you feel, losing a parent is certainly different. But I do feel your pain, and from personal experience, alcohol and/or drugs will only make things worse. The best thing you can do is separate yourself from all substances for a while, get through the initial stages of mourning. It's too easy to get lost in the alcohol and the next thing you know weeks or months have passed by and your emotional and mental state is worse than when you started. Much love and well wishes during the holidays and into 2021. ❤

Got divorced, all my family rejected me, told me I would never do anything good in life, my dad told me i was a garbage of society.... but it's seems to me they didnt know me at all, im always here trying to help and give love to all others humains around me. I was alone in me jeep with a loaded riffle ready to blow my head off, i coulndt see the lights behind thos heavy clouds over my heads. I was listening to youR song i dont care, and then just after angels came on. The lyrics got me right in my heart, I started to think of my 5 years old daughter and what would happen if i wouldn't be here for her, and I bust out crying like a baby, and i throw that gun away. This song litteraly save my life bro, thanks again for the amazing music you are doing you and nova. Divorce can do that. I never understood depression until I came home after working a 14 hour shift to find my house empty. She hired a moving crew and was just gone. It was so unexpected and I was in shock. For three months straight I came home after work and drank a 5th Ot vodka and just cried. But God always has better for us. I ended up meeting up with my childhood friend. I’ve always had the biggest crush on her and we hung out every day since I was 14 to 22. She is who god had planned for me all along. Glad you’re still brother.

I’ve been married for 8 years. For 6 of that I was desperately addicted to pills. I got myself clean and my marriage is great (now). Despite that, I’ve always struggled to put my addiction into words and explain it to my wife. Talking to her openly was impossible- not because I didn’t want to or was ashamed to, but because I couldn’t find the words. Your music has given me so many of those words I needed. Your honestly has helped people in ways you will never know.
