With the 30th Anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers upon us, I thought I'd take a look at the first set of video games released and based on the classic show!
If you read the title; yes, there is a special guest! Who is it? Well, I guess you'll have to watch the whole video to find out!
(As for what I shouted to morph, "Hesperocyon")

The reason why the Green Ranger did not appear in Bandai's version for Nintendo's consoles is due to rights issues. Sega gets exclusive rights to use the Green Ranger in the Sega versions of MMPR.

The Game Gear version is a gem! It's honestly better than the Genesis version IMO. I love how simple the controls are, BUT each Ranger plays very different from one another. That's some impressive attention to detail from the developers!

The Sega Genesis version was my first Power Rangers game. We used to rent it from Front Row Video in Choctaw Oklahoma every week. So much fun when you're a kid.

there was a fighting game on SNES as well, called Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Fighting Edition. It had the monsters and zords from season 2.

Well made video. Thank you for taking the time to go through each version of the game (Sega CD excluded). As someone who was around to play the GameGear version, way back when, the music and SFX was nice and nostalgic. Thank you.

The Genesis theme wouldn't be out of place in a phonk remix. Rented out it a lot from blockbuster, can't remember if my older brother(who had a snes) bought the game or when i rented it let me play it a lot
The movie the game for Genesis i also rented a lot. I thought it was so cool that they swapped the sprites to get the original black, red and yellow rangers
The snes version cranked the difficulty up to 11. My best friend growing up had it and we were lucky to get past the 2nd level

The Genesis / Mega Drive game is adapted from the Japanese Mega Drive Zyuranger game.
It's not a 1:1 conversion, as the Zyuranger game had different logos and music, but the gameplay is more or less the same as far as I can tell.
Unless it was made harder in the Western version for the Blockbuster Rental audience.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
🤔 If you mean Mighty Morphin, I liked Seasons 1 and 2. If you mean Power Rangers in general, it's hard to narrow down to one favorite. From the top of my head; Time Force, Dinothunder, and SPD.

Even though the SNES is solid quality, I feel like once you finish it, there's no reason to replay it until years after you forget about it. The lack of 2-player co-op really holds it back.
With a dedicated fighting game, there's arguably always a reason to replay it, even if the quality makes it questionable why you'd pick that one instead of a superior 2D fighter.
I own the SegaCD version, and I think it's fine for a QTE game, even if the difficulty spikes very quickly to the point where I can't advance.

I think the music in the Gameboy version is great but it just doesn't fit the game. Within a few seconds of hearing it I immediately thought of games done by Technos Japan Corp like Renegade, Double Dragon 2, and River City Ransom. I'm not familiar with those two cited developers but I'm fairly confident the music was composed by the late Michiya Hirasawa aka Sawa. Actually a better comparison would be Double Dragon 2 on GB as it sounds like the same sound engine just with different original songs or who knows...maybe these are songs that didn't make the cut for other Technos games so he threw it onto this. Although there were other composers at that company, they did work for other systems like the Arcade while he did the bulk of NES and GB renditions. Aside from composer trivia though agree with your list but I still like the Genesis version for nostalgia reasons. 😊
