This list made my day. BYOB is by far my favorite System of a Down song. Second is Toxicity, I personally love their political songs but this one has an amazing message which is to stop pollution. I personally don’t understand some of the lines such as “eating seeds is the best time activity” but the damn solid drumming of John Dalmayan and blaring lead guitar riff at the beginning took me to paradise. System Of a Down is one of my favorite bands of all time and I’m not a huge metal fan. Really glad you brought attention to some of their more overlooked songs.

Man I fucking love SOAD. Their best (in my opinion) song is hands down "Lost In Hollywood", I get fucking chills every time I hear that song. The perfect dynamics, the guitar fits absolutely perfectly with the lyrics. So fucking dark. Amazing.

Everyone always talks shit about how "Chop Suey" isn't that good its just mainstream. I don't know if it would be #1 on my list either but making a top 10 list is so fucking hard. I will explain to you why I think it is easily top 3 of there songs, and not because its popular. The last minute of the song, and of course the whole song but in particular the last minute really speaks to me on a personal level. "Father into your hands why have you forsaken me In your eyes forsaken me In your thoughts forsaken me In your heart forsaken, me oh" The last minute emotionally cries out about a father forsaking his son for some reason that the son seems to think are very unreasonable or are unreasonable in his thoughts, heart and eyes. Its what makes this song so good in my book because I can relate to this myself. My dad was the kind of guy who doesn't know jack shit about certain topics, but will talk about it like he knows, and if you disagree and are completely right he just uses the fact that hes the boss and he is superior to you. Its quite infuriating when you know you are correct but you are powerless to convince him otherwise. That's why the song is so great IMO. All of Systems songs that have acoustics in them are amazing and there is just so much emotion in Serj's voice that it just reminds me of what I think about sometimes. EDIT : And Yes, I have listened to every single song from system of a downs studio release albums and for what I know basically every song that they have ever released as a band easily 20+ times and am aware of all of there other songs that can easily be some of the best.
Adam Fisher Imo the father bit in chop suey is supposed to be Jesus talking to God, I mean...he mentions angels so it could be a religiously centered song.

I'm 33 this month, and SOAD is a group I grew up with, even listening to Soil more often than not. At least you put Chop Suey above BYOB, how about Sugar? I wouldn't put BYOB in the top 10, I might put BYOB 14th. I just consider some of their other songs better, guess I'm getting old, and they changed their "Tone" with BYOB that I hear it and think "thats not them- thats the record labels making them something they're not".

Vicinity Of Obscenity - "banana, banana, banana, terracotta, banana, banana, terracotta pie!" Need I say more? 9. I-E-A-I-A-I-O - the tongue-twister sounding verses are my most favorite parts on the song. Chorus that urges you to chant along with the band. So awesome. 8. Holy Mountains - haunting and epic tune, with drastic dynamics between the verses and chorus, ,especially with the screams "Liar! Demon! Killer!" right after the softer and calmer verses. If you knew what this song is about, it will give you chills. 7. Sad Statue - severely underrated SOAD tune, with killer main riffs, and aggressive blast beats from John Dolmayan; contrasting with melodic and calmer verses and choruses. I'm surprised not many people know about this song. 6. Bubbles - extremely infectious chorus, what can I say? The bridge is short, but really fun to sing along to. "May I remind you...". I like doing that part with Serj's accent. 5. Toxicity - classic SOAD song! Enough said. 4. Spiders - 100% with what you said on the song, I don't need to say it on here again. 3. Soil - fan-favorite song obviously, and I can see why. Serj goes everywhere vocally in this song, especially the end where he screams "WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM AWAY FROM US YOU MOTHERFUCKER???". You just can't help but going crazy when you hear that. 2. Deer Dance - "Pushing little children, with their fully automatics, they like to push the weak around!". I don't need to explain any further than that. By the way, the little part when it's just Serj and Daron singing the chorus, makes the last chorus seem much more heavier and more aggressive. Love that part. 1. BYOB - Same reasons as you explained in previous videos! Also the first song that got me into System Of A Down.

Great video Jon! System of a Down definitely is an important band for me, as my mom took me to go see them for my 13th birthday 7 years ago. They truly are a band that is able to catch the attention of a wide range of people. Keep up with the great content! P.S. As for my favorite tracks for the band, there is no way I can whittle it down to 10, as I enjoy all of their songs. I will say though that my favorite albums are Mesmerize and Steal This Album!.
Since I posted this comment, I listened to most of their other work (I have yet to listen to their self-titled album), and I really like what they put out and now I can't wait for their next album.

I have such a strong love for this band, they are my second favorite band of all time (first being Three Days Grace) Serj Tankian is my favorite vocalist ever and Lost in Hollywood is my favorite song by System and just my favorite song of all time. You should really do more videos on them that would be awesome!

Great video Jon! System of a Down definitely is an important band for me, as my mom took me to go see them for my 13th birthday 7 years ago. They truly are a band that is able to catch the attention of a wide range of people. Keep up with the great content!
P.S. As for my favorite tracks for the band, there is no way I can whittle it down to 10, as I enjoy all of their songs. I will say though that my favorite albums are Mesmerize and Steal This Album!.

I haven't really listened to System of a Down outside of the Toxicity album and BYOB. I really want to take a look at their other work now.
Since I posted this comment, I listened to most of their other work (I have yet to listen to their self-titled album), and I really like what they put out and now I can't wait for their next album.

I have such a strong love for this band, they are my second favorite band of all time (first being Three Days Grace) Serj Tankian is my favorite vocalist ever and Lost in Hollywood is my favorite song by System and just my favorite song of all time.
