Clomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used to induce ovulation in anovulatory women. It can reduce infertility in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and women with amenorrhea.

Clomid only block estrogen in pituitary, not in hypotalamus!

Clomiphene acts on the receptors present on pituitary due to which more GnRH will be more produced followed by increased levels of LH, FSH as a result of inhibition of negative feedback..
So the GnRH agonist are given ( by continuation method) in combination with clomiphene which will decrease GnRH production and LH , FSH also gets reduced
