To handle the issue with the Defense turrets, maybe instead of lots of little ones around your bases, you could have one huge one at each base, that way you can still get the defense but won't have so many seperate ai entities clogging up your FPS

There used to be a bad (far worst) problem related to that, occasionally, but I wouldn't have expected issues from just half a dozen of them, now. And it seems I was wrong about lag from loose resources: something majorly changed with the optimisation in 0.8, such that they now cause more FPS loss in Silos (without physics) than when loose. A weird inversion.
I've play the game a whole bunch and I haven't had really any FPS issues. I have a world where I got several and I still get 50-60 FPS (I have a gtx 1050 4gb)
@@William_Reader Dead foes can be used as camo by literally most intelligent life, if I'm right. The corpses have a stronger smell than living organisms, and the skeletons are big enough to house smaller creatures.
scrappers will pull directly from magnets as long as each are separate techs.i usually make a simple mag-tower right next to the scrapper and dump huge amounts of blocks. love the series, i applaud that you give yourself limits. keep it up!
Polar Prospector seems like a good name for the craft. Polar because of, you know... The magnets... And prospector because it's designed for scavaging parts.
Nice concept Lath. I actually like that idea. With the wheels Might I suggest the following. Using the Geo corp tracks instead, double width either side with a single block space between them, then you can thread in the Hawk eye shield and shield modules without too much hassle. And maybe even using the biggest version of the GSO Cannons (Not the Bertha cannons the other ones) along the side (Forward facing so they act like side cannons. (FULL BROADSIDE :D ) I'll be 'borrowing' your concepts of course and posting screenshots soon :D

BUT if you only put down an anchor with a magnet just beside the scrapper, then the scrapper will take the blocks. Maybe the same effect can be made with the hooks & rings, but they are a PAIN to assemble & keep them together.
Honestly for a combat vehicle it's better to use the GSO Anchored Furnace Generator and fueled it with Carbius Brick. You just need get anchored for 2 seconds compared if you use solar panel.

The SCU is dominant to the magnet when placed on the same tech, sadly it onely picks a certain number of pices at a time wich might end up entangled with the ones still held by the magnet. also, if you think resourcechunks gett stuck a lott, just give the magnets some time. multible magnets also tend to fight for the scrapp so give them some space for max eficience. have funn ^^
Lathrix! The SCU will probably work on your vehicle if the direction of their pull wasn't trying to go through the largest magnet. I haven't tested it, but to me it does make sense.
12:30 I'm pretty sure the problem was in the storage being behind the items it needed to pick. If there is nothing in between storage and items it will pick them even if it's on the same vehicle
latherix, i was thinking about your corpse collector, which i think the name 'Gravedigger' would fit well, and i realised that it would benefit from machine guns more than pound cannons, as pound cannons still have the issue of exploding and destroying the loot you so desire
I think you should make both magnets to a ball like magnet. With one magnet at the top, one at the bottom, one left, one right and one on the back. So that you can basically have 10 magnets on 1 vehicle. It would look awesome and you wouldn't need to worry about harvesting too much :D
Honestly, Lathland if you have the Venture mobile SCU attached onto the tech next to the magnets, you don't have to go back to your base everytime after collecting a load of the "corpses" and your tech won't get overloaded. The SCU takes precedence over the magnets.
I am quite far away from being the rank needed for the mobile SCUs though, I did use them on the Nomad (The end build of the last season) and in various other builds and will certainly be using them once I am ranked up, especially on techs like this! :D

The reason defense turrets are laggy is that they have to check every tech (Including your own techs and other defense turrets) in the game to determine whether to shoot. This as you may expect gets exponentially laggier for every turret.
Lathrix I know you arent going for an optimization build but if you want to be able to pull in infinite stuff you can stick a venture SCU near the magnets
Lathrix, what if you made a drone to harvest parts? Nothing would get stuck on it, and if the magnets and repair bubbles pointed down, you could shoot at enemies from directly above and abduct pieces off of them
Hey Lath, do you think its possible to make a "LARGE" tech to be able to move with wheels but have the crafting and silos to make it a type of harvester-base that can move when the resources in the area are depleted then can move or would that be to nomadic?
Lath, stonehearth is coming out fully imminently, will you do another play through? Notable changes include an increased progression tree, a npc faction, a geomancer, a new biome, new faction, re-embaekation and playable bunnies!

My CPU is 2 cores @3GHz each, but only the first core counts, because the Unity engine don't have multi-threading (does not support more than one core). What is the performance of your first CPU core?
looks like a gaint oil rig witch is pretty cool. also could you make a geo corp themed base? id love to see the base be updated witch each licence you get in each of the factions.
maybe just make one massive tech in a shape of a kind of wall loaded with weapons so that it never has to turn and face enemies, but will be able to deal with any enemies that come near while only having one defense AI
