WHY the BARBIE DOLL was a PROGRESS || A good one, but not enough…

In the first scene of the movie, we see how little girls stop playing with babies and they start playing with the barbie doll. We see a transition of little girls taking care of someone and “pre-training” for motherhood to seeing the barbie doll as someone they could become beyond the reproductive capacity of giving birth. We see an expansion of women’s identity from motherhood to womanhood. Or, from a potential aspect of their life to a more all-encompassing appreciation of women’s worth and potential.
