I spent too much time with early Oberheims and it tattooed my heart. Zawinul visits me in my dreams. I have managed my addiction for years and then I heard this. I went on an SEM listening binge on the torturous youtube cringing at the compression artifacts. I kept coming back to this video, this filter. It's familiar, endearing. Amazing work. 💛
One thing I find interesting about this filter after playing around with it for a bit is, while it doesn't self-oscillate by just turning the resonance up, it will self-oscillate if you patch either one of the outputs back into one of the inputs, and you can get a variety of waveforms/sounds by playing with the resonance, input level, filter type, and frequency controls. Definitely something I intend to explore more later.
@@loslosbaby Sorry just saw this now, yeah I definitely have the ability to do that sort of thing with my system, actually I'm just wrapping up the recording of a track now where I'm running two Elements clones into the SEMSVF for the bass line, and I'm using a Doepfer joystick to create feedback effects using a VCA, although in this case the feedback loop is Elements -> VCA -> Elements, so the SEMSVF is after the feedback loop. As yet I haven't made use of the SEMSVF's self-oscillation capabilities, for now I'm just enjoying what it does for my bass sound :) Having the two inputs with attenuverters for each is handy for blending tones an octave apart.
i wish you would do away with the tall trimmers and short throw sliders on all your filters. to be frank, such solutions are not in line with the price bracket they are selling in. at least in Europe. this is how it should be done, beautiful design :)))

@@Tregrense so kind. Thank you
I like that its all big knobs, no tall trimmers.
Ordered.
i love a good filter sweep with that resonance. so good!
Sounds great! Growly lowpass and that rawness when you push the bandpass resonance...ooh. Want.
Excellent, thanks for putting this together!
HOOOOOOOOLY SH#T, DUDE!! This filter sound INCREDIBLE!! 🤯

Thanks for the awesome tip!
Hey @adamrisch , what about using a touch controller into some VCA to control the feedback with pressure? Do you have such magics?

i'm convinced! 👍
