I don't know what it is, but there's something about this song that makes it quite emotional. It has kind of a "tragic" sound to it, in addition to the burning house. To me, anyway. I like it a lot.
I know what you mean, it makes me very emotional, very hard to put my finger on what exactly makes it like that, but it is definitely there.
Abby Morris for me it's the guitars especially in the beginning and the voice :) and the guitars picking throughout the song.

@@sendAJtospace thanks for the recommend, I’ve listened to dissonanta and was only really into one song. I’ll have to check out the others but I mostly listen to electronic music these days lol. Though I’ve been getting back into rock & metal again a bit lately.

My favorite thing about Hands Like Houses is their ability to use such grandiose language and proliferate it alongside a poetic format, while still keeping layers and layers of music cluttered inside. It's so rare these days to see lyrics that are planned out and hold altruistic meaning, I love it!
I'm disappointed that this still doesn't have the views it deserves, it's just so great.

This song and all of "Unimagine" is just so, so beautiful and really gets me emotional. I've been listening to Dissonants a lot, and i like it....but no song on that album tops this.

I used to love this song when i was 17. 26 now and havent heard this song in over 7 years. Still as good in 2024 as it was in 2015.

He is one of the few artists I've seen that can hit every note while singing live as on the recorded version.
I am a geologist and I love this band and every time I hear one of their songs I can pick out what sounds an awful lot of geology references but that's just me!

i think there is a huge difference in just putting a couple of instruments together and playing a song VS actually ORCHESTRATING a song. i mean yeah sure, you can make 1 guitar, 1 bass, and drums sound nice too. but this... this is something else. beautiful

the house can reference absolutely anything built and set fire and torn down by life.....ideas, relationships, dreams.....that's the beauty of this song.....notice he keeps saying begin again.....talking about when the aftermath of the destruction of what you built is torn down....keep trying and begin again as well....in the bands case it's about writing a song

I wish I could thank all the members of hands like houses for crafting such beautiful art. each song is a carefully crafted piece of art, from the melodies to the poetry Trenton sings. I have never been able to truly view music as a piece of art until I listened to all their music. I couldn't be more excited for unimagine.

wait...Hands Like HOUSES. it's a painting of a house. it's on a hill, the song is called A Fire On A Hill. House on a hill and Fire on a hill, so maybe House=Fire and it's almost like Hands Like Fire.
in this video, the painting of the house gets destroyed with "fire". maybe it represents the "hands" that were destroyed by fire because after all, they're like houses and maybe this represents his creativity, what he does with his hands, being destroyed.

This song is seriously the most poetic piece there is. It makes me happy and it captivates my attention
watching people paint is so mesmerizing. i swear back when i painted in high school, most of the class spent half their time watching other people paint. its crazy seeing something amazing come out of nothing. also, that sun flare on the camera is so perfect.

I think it's cool that rise records always puts the lyrics in the description, but why do they always make a bunch of mistakes? It's like they didn't even try to get them right. They couldn't just simply ask the band what the exact lyrics were? If ur just gunna guess what the lyrics are anyway, then what's the point of adding them!! It's disrespectful to the band in my opinion.
Sometimes they are the ORIGINAL lyrics, i know with a band I like Knuckle Puck they put the original in the description, and the video is obviously the final edited version. So you can see both. Maybe they are just lazy though and you're right haha!

I'm so glad I have found you guys. It's been three years since then and I still can't get enough. It's really hard to find bands like yourself that really push to inspire others and bring joy and positivity to those around. As someone who suffers from depression believe me, this really does help. On days that seemed pointless and at times when I thought I was a waste your songs showed me more value then I had come to realize. I know the band may not see this at all, especially being an older video. I just wanted to say thank you, you may not know it, but you're music inspires and helps many. Please keep up the great content and much love from Alabama!

OG Hearty Thank you, and I'm glad to hear that! I can relate, except mine was in the form a combination of pills and drinking. It was definitely hard and trying at times, but in the end I came to realize what really mattered. which ultimately led me to quitting the habits like yourself and finding a lot more happiness with myself. I'm just glad there's bands like this that strive to bring hope and positivity to people, it's rare. Again though thank you so, the comment really made my day :,)
