Can’t wait to see him in Ashoka. That’s the meet up I can’t wait for. At least there we have a team that’s 100% commuted to pleasing the fans rather than 50%
I do believe reeva will go capture luke and inform him about the force and how it effects ppl negatively and how his birth father becomes a sith and how obi wan failed him and to steer clear of becoming a jedi which makes luke more curious about his birth father and more curious about becoming a jedi like in the 4th movie a new hope or she might attempt to kill him to exact revenge on obi wan for failing anikan or to exact revenge vader for killing the younglings which is unlikely bcs vader doesnt know about his kids yet
Obi Wan trying to negotiate with Reva reminded me of General Grievous saying: "Ahh, the negotiator!" It was one of Kenobi's skills to stall time and get people on his side by talking.
No matter what we fans all think of the series as a whole, we should be as loud as possible about how much we love Hayden and Ewan’s performances! This is what we want, this is the kind of thing that can unite the fandom.
Nope. Most true fans are attached to the characters, not the actors who play them. This series is a disgrace and the actors are sell outs for willingly participating in it.
To me it shows more how weak she was compared to him because it’s more his suit and his prosthetics that slow him down as we can see with palpatine and count dooku with the dark side being fast at old age is no problem
@@MLife1000 you know, a lot of people don't listen to the dialog, but they should! Because it's not just a Star Wars show, it's a statement about how your past never really leaves you! Hey Paul!
Ugh those flashbacks… I hope Hayden realizes just how much the fans appreciate him coming back for this. Total chills and nostalgia. Childhood self is double thumbs up nodding in approval.
Vader is my favorite villain ever. Every time someone tries to fight him and he so effortlessly tosses them aside is honestly some of the coolest Star Wars I'll ever watch.
You've hit on the problem every Star Wars has had since the original trilogy -- lack of a plausible villain. The first sequel trilogy almost got there until Kylo Ren took his helmet off and decided he was a boy band member
Would have been dope if he actually killed her.. how did she survive the youngling massacre & a Vader duel ? I don’t get that and it doesn’t make sense.. people are saying they left her there to die but didn’t he do that at the Jedi temple ? He knows who she is so he must know he didn’t kill her before why give her a chance to rebel with Obi - Wan idk … The ✍🏾 is dumb the ( action, callbacks & flashbacks are holding this series on its back )
@@dankchewy2699 in order to enjoy Star Wars anymore, you have to ignore the continuity errors that have been baked in since Darth Vader told Luke he was his father (despite previous dialogue that absolutely cannot be squared with that fact)
@@bucksdiaryfan how do you define a “plausible” villain? Because of course Vader is a badass, he’s just egotistical, aggressive, obsessive and presumptuous. IMO that’s just a blank slate for flaws to be written in. Unless you think it’s arbitrary to write good villains as forward thinking and infallibly evil, Vader is not even top 5 most “plausible” villains in Star Wars cannon lol
We gotta remember that Anakin was a padawan and knight throughout the clone wars. he was trained during an era of soldiers not during an era of peacekeepers, like the counsel was. His generation of jedi was more aggressively trained and tested than previous,I think. Galactic civil war has a way of hardening a person, and rewarding a more aggressive style
I agree with all of that... he chose that aggressive style before the clone wars though. But yeah I mean, I still agree it reinforced it and his mentality
Seeing Hayden’s smirk one last time as Anakin was just so fulfilling. As for the lack of deepfake de-aging, perhaps it wasn’t done because we are seeing these memories through the eyes of Vader who cannot remember being a young anakin
“Mercy doesn’t defeat an enemy, master.” Two things. One, Anakin, your Vader is showing. Two, I loved that line! Hayden sounded just as he did during AOTC. I don’t know how but he did. The role came so natural to him. I’ve really missed seeing him as Anakin. I grew up with the Prequels and have always loved them.
I actually didn’t like that line. He’s always been aggressive but he has always been aligned eith the Jedi code. I cant see him saying this before AOTC.
Nobody gonna talk about how Hayden absolutely nailed the voice of Anakin in the flashbacks?! Sounded identical, that was one of the things I was worried about but he nailed it, chills!
because they are professional actors that do their best with what they give them... but specially Anakin looks way older and that alone takes you out of an otherwise great scene... its all what fans wanted and they made is look so cheap

@@KangaZune Roque one was cool, don’t get me wrong. However, it’s definitely not the same as we see now. This Vader is so much more terrifying because he still sometimes loses his calm, which he rarely ever does by the time Roque One happens.
This episode was definitely a massive win. Almost 20 years on, Ewan and Hayden can still bring it (and I'm not just talking about the duelling). Great stuff, can't wait to see the finale.
@@Glitchedluke exactly!! The fact Lucas surrounded himself with yesman just shows with the dialogue and direction the prequels went. (Don't get it twisted I grew up with the prequels and love them) Hayden being given actual good dialogue and direction shows how good of an actor he is. He felt more natural not as forced as Anakin did in the prequels.
It was cool, it was just weird to me that in the time they used to set up that transport vehicle...why not just have escaped. Like "hey, lets wait here until Vader comes in and then send up this dummy ship and then leave after." like huh?
Yeah why did they keep showing that? I mean once or so is cool to get the point across he's broke...but I thought it was gonna lead up to him getting caught or something
I absolutely love how they portrayed Vader's fighting style in this episode. It is so accurate. Because of his suit, Vader is not as flexible as he once was, which limits his abilities to fight with his lightsaber. So what does he do? He quite literally masters the use of the Force to help him when he has to fight, as well as also still being incredible with a lightsaber. This episode perfectly depicts just how powerful Vader is with not only his lightsaber, but also using the Force.
@@absurdtrickster9074 george lucas isn't the most consistent writer either lmaooo. it's only now after decades and decades of added lore and even further characterization of both anakin and vader that we've realized "huh. vader should be a lot more powerful, shouldn't he?" and now we have the technology and film technicality to see it come to life.
I would also like to point out Anakin also does the aggressive downwards attack on Barriss's lightsaber when fighting her in the temple after he found out she was the traitor that framed Ahsoka.
The de-aging didn’t really bother me tbh. I’m just happy to see Hayden in the flesh. Still no Qui Gon though, I’m guessing he will speak to Kenobi just before the last duel. Definitely a W here, but we needed this style from the second episode on. Not the second to last.
They better not break the canon by showing qui Gon as a force ghost just as fan service. Qui Gon was not a force god fully, he only knew how to communicate through the force, not actually appear
Alas Lord Vader will never reach his potential with the dark side. The fact he needs the suit to live will always mean he can never channel the raw dark side energy as lightning. He's a powerhouse for sure, and I loved the fact he was agile and his movement was great even with the suit...but alas he is broken. Will never equal Palpatine for sheer darkside power and skill.
They genuinely might not have de-aged him as much because they didn't want to mess with Haydens authenticity in the first time we see him as Anakin in years. Even though he was old it really felt like him. If he was all Cg'd it might have felt really plastic and not as satisfying. That's the reason I like anyway
I don’t think that Disney thought that much into it at all honestly. Just another mistake of theirs. It is what it is. Great scenes & episode though never the less.
De-aging is really advanced at this point though and barely noticable especially when you have the real actor as a base and Disney money. Luke in BoBF was uncanny and that wasn’t even Mark Hamill. It was great seeing Hayden as Anakin but it did break my immersion somewhat seeing him significantly older than he should be.
If they had did too much CGI I would have not been as emotional as I was. I think they did a good job maintaining some of Hayden's features. It's the significance of the fight that matters.
I didn’t mind Anakin and Obi-Wan looking a bit older in the flashbacks. I can picture them both from episode 2 because the movies are ingrained in memory, so I can tell the difference. The de-aging effect can sometimes make the characters look a little funky which throws it off. So keeping Anakin and Obi-Wan looking more like their present self was a nice touch, in my opinion. Great episode of Kenobi!
Absolute chills when Vader pulled the ship down and how easily he ripped it apart. They're finally showing his true power and I'm loving it. Fingers crossed they go all out for the finale
@@oXRaptorzXo no it most certainly was not lol. The one transport they had was very clearly in the very center of the hangar with absolutely no room for another one anywhere. And if they had a second hangar, they wouldn't have made such a fuss over this hangars doors being held shut lmfao. The whole show is such a shit show of these stupid, mindless mistakes and decisions
Imagine if each episode were like this, a lesson taught with a series of flashbacks to them training in different settings, that Anakin had still failed to learn
That motif is used in a lot of media today and I think it would probably get on some peoples nerves to see it coming up again in their Star Wars stories.

One of my favorite things about this episode is how you can see clearly that Hayden watched all of TCW. He’s not merely channeling his AOTC performance, he’s going further and channeling Matt Lanter, and he’s doing it while delivering his lines so much better than he did in AOTC (and I love the prequels, there is no shade in that at all). For the first time today I felt like Prequels Anakin and Clone Wars Anakin merged into one entity on screen, and all done so well with just a few lines. Kudos to Hayden for his performance here. He absolutely knocked it out of the park.
@@myka4337 yea but it's a bit unfair to expect us to know her backstory and motives right away in. This is a TV show and you needed time to get there. @@BuscaLoEsencial I don’t think force sensitives sensing each other is like some perfect radar where they know exactly where each other is. @@nightryder21 No we can go that far. He is criminally underrated as an actor, not many people see his great acting power. And he is just the most perfect vader.
I think the placement of Obi-Wan's line "until then, a padawan you will still be" could show that Vader is still not quite past his hotheadedness, and is going to lose his fight in the finale because he still hasn't learned his lesson. That would tie in with the line from A New Hope pretty nicely, as Vader is still the learner and will need to learn one final lesson in his duel next week to become the master.

IMO, great duel but not needed for Learner/Master thing, actually they should've put this epic duel before the ep.5 events. He learned his final lesson in EP.5 when gets tricked and defeated not physically, but mentally again by Obi-Wan and for that surprise defeat, he *lefts* him. Just a minute later, he effortessly plays with Reva, not just straight murdering her like he normally do. He thinks similiar like Kenobi and I think this completes his Learner/Master story arc.
The scene where Vader was just toying with Reva just reminded me of the time Ventress tried to fight yoda and yoda just trolled her be stealing her lightsabers and gave them back moments after.
@Jaimie Ruiz Your knowledge is probably from playing For Honor, or watching sword fighting porn if you get my drift. If you are the smaller opponent, way smaller, with a smaller blade, and have something like the force, why would you stay in one spot, he would be slower, easier to hit, and unable to get a hit. You have to apply the force into this too. Still, yes its like a fairy ballerina, that is undeniable, but what is wrong with that, not close to enough to your anime?
I liked how during the training scenes, you could see a certain almost evil expression on Hayden's face. You could see Vader brewing within him even then. I feel like the direction of this series really showcases his talent as an actor.
Makes me wish the writer who did 5 did the rest of the episodes as well. At least the writers of the less well-done episodes didn't write the whole series.
This episode was amazing. I took the lack of de-aging as homage to the actors, and us 90s kids that grew up with along them. Getting to see them as they are today was cool.
@@CookiesBricks For our age perhaps we are between trilogies. I enjoy the prequels but if you don't that's ok man. We all like different things. Peace.
The duel between reva and vader was amazing! It truly shows that anakin is still there behind that suit! Or at least the same vader in revenge of the sith. How he has a lightsaber on his side but simply choosing to show off by throwing her around with the force instead. And once he turns the fight into a 1 vs 1 you can tell that he is not even trying. Just showing how little effort he needs to beat her and how ultimately weak she is compared to him. The whole thing feels like a bridge between anakin/vader from rots and vader from the empire strikes back! I know it’s different from earlier canon and legends but I think it’s a good bridge! The only thing that I would say is that if they wanted this kind of vader then the show should have taken place sooner like 3 or 5 years after instead of 10. like before fallen order. @@richardcastillos2896 I agree! I think they should have Changed the story! Obi wan knowing this would leave Tatooine going to a near planet in hopes of finding ahsoka before the inquisitors do. But instead of finding ahsoka obi wan would get caught looking for someone using the code name fulcrum. And I guess the story would have to start at around here! I just love how Obi-Wan has this "lose the battle, win the war" kinda mentality. Yes and if they would have killed her off her character would have been glorious but now it will revert back to not so great. She should be dead. They killed the wrong woman in this episode.
This definitely did a lot for her. I kinda figured she was one of the younglings... it was obvious... but the twist was nice and they actually made her sympathetic.
loved the episode. I IMMEDIATELY could tell the writing and pacing was different. It was without a doubt what I expected of the series, I'm just sad that not every episode was this good and how this is the semi last episode. I hope the last episode we see more of Anakin and Ben, because honestly half of the times they feel like guest characters in their own show.
Yes it was the best episode, but still had a lot of stupid stuff in it. Like how they used the cannon to break the door in stead of Reva just slicing it open. Stuff like that just takes away the moments that are good.

This episode alone was better than the sequels... the scene where Vader was stopping the ship from taking off and then ripping it apart sent chills down my spine it was so amazing
You know, after this, I'm really liking Reva conceptually - she might not be EXTRODINARILY well written (better than a lot of other characters Disney's given us), but she's a great physical manifestation of Obi-Wan's guilt and shame over the loss of Anakin.
I just want to add, tho she can be annoying, that is actually a really good sign for the job of the actress of hers, Moses Ingram. The ability to bring emotions to people is the sign of a good job on part of the actor or actress, just like with Jack Gleeson in Game of Thrones, only through his amazing job was Joffrey so hateable. That being sad, i do agree that Reva is no written amazingly, but she now she does have a very understandable motivation und way to feel the way she feels. These thoughts of Obi Wan failing the whole Jedi Order and being responsible for the death of her adopted family not only does hold quite the weight, she had over ten years festering in these thoughts and hatred every time she closed her eyes and probably a very big portion of her waking hours too. And she would have seen or heard about Vader probably quite frequently, so to be confronted again and again and again with your tormentor, that will only have fueled that fire. I quite like her as more of a tragic villain, i did not hate her before, but this background does very much for me elevate her until then somewhat lackluster motivation.
How is she not written well? She is written fine alot better than some other characters In star wars. People literally just hate her to hate her and give lame surface level reasons as to why. First they said she was too evil as an inquisitor (which is fucking retarded because inquisitors ARE EVIL") next they are saying she doesn't show emotion which is dumb because yeah she does shes a good actress. People just want the stereotypical mustache twirling villains that star wars usually gives us so when they see an actual well written character they thinks is bad writing 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I for one am super happy with the limited de-aging they did. I want to see the actors not CGI. I can imagine them being younger, and what is a good show or movie without a little imagination? I think it was perfectly done.

I actually think if we got this earlier in the series it wouldn’t be as impactful. This episode was just non stop excitement and payoff. Watching Vader show his powers and still lose to Kenobi with his mind (As Theory predicted) was special.
Honestly, limited series like this are usually best viewed all at once. Like one big movie, but the fact it's been a weekly release has stunted it in certain aspects.
@@Stuwi I disagree with the idea that past episodes were garbage on a couple of levels. 1. If we didn’t see Kenobi at at his lowest and going through his rust and self loathing and learning to live with his mistakes instead of “forgetting” or letting them control him… the episode would be less impactful. Seeing him cower and hide and run from Vader in the first meeting was important. 2. We now see and understand why Reva’s character was so hated by the rest of the inquisitors and how she knew Anakin was Vader. The “Oh Shit you were there” moment between her and Kenobi was awesome… as was Vader revealing he remembered her. 3. I actually enjoyed learning about the new empire control. I get some fans wanted only Anakin and Obi Wan… but that’s extremely limited in terms of story telling. We got to see Obi Wan go through his trauma, regain hope and even platonic love through Leia… I think each episode had a theme or overarching point. Did some of them drag on a bit to get there? sure. This episode had just about EVERYTHING I've wanted from this series. The flashbacks, man. I was a kid again, grinning like a child. De-aging Hayden and Ewan would seem unnecessary to me. They looked so good even in their older age. Vader's sheer presence and power with the Force, bringing me back to the Force Unleashed. Finally we get to see what the Force can do.
The episode was so rewarding because the show took its time to develop the characters and story to build up to the moment. Too many diehard nerds wanted to get the cake before the meat. They complained Kenobi was disillusioned, weak and not himself. Well of course not after what he went through, and he was trying to stay hidden under the radar. He’s not going to be a well oiled Jedi. And he didn’t know Vader was alive. There was nothing in ROTS to indicate he would. What he said in the original trilogy was with the knowledge he’s gaining now. That whole outrage was stupid. Hating on 3rd Sister was premature. We were supposed to hate her. We weren’t supposed to have sympathy or anything toward her - that’s what they saved this episode for. I don’t understand why everyone wants everything from the first or even first few episodes. The great payoff is what’s missing in a lot of shows and movies today because annoying audiences don’t have the patience for it. They’re a spoiled on instant gratification Marvel style. That’s why we got Super Rey in Force Awakens. End of rant.

This made me gain hope for Reva’s character, because she isn’t some evil character that turns good for cliche’s sake, she’s still evil and harbors hatred towards both anakin and obi-wan, enough hatred to keep herself alive to kill vader (try lol) and ruin kenobi’s mission on Tatooine. She’s willing to do bad things to anyone to have her revenge (anakin for Order 66 and Kenobi for failing)
I thought it was interesting how Vader could beat Riva easily since he trained the inquisitors himself and could practically predict Riva’s moves and attacks; its also funny how Vader messes with her since her lightsaber tactics/attacks were limited due to the inquisitors’ limited training.
I dont see many people mentioning flashback Hayden taking inspiration from Matt Lanter's performance in TCW, felt like his character was kind of a blend between the two and I loved it! I feel like Hayden absolutely watched TCW and nailed this performance!
The look on Anakin's face after the short lecture from Obi-Wan hit me right in the feels. He looks emotionally wounded somehow - imagine the look of a child who thought he'd done a good thing, only to be scolded by a parent. It breaks my heart a little, but it's as it always was: Obi-Wan meant well and was qualified as a teacher, but he missed the mark somehow when it came to actually delivering it to Anakin. I see how Anakin could've seen Kenobi as holding him back.
I think Vader was referring to Reva. When he states “it’s not them we need to break”. Since he already knew she was one of the younglings and the grand inquisitor told him how she betrayed him.
If he meant Reva then I wonder why Vader chose this exact situation to give up Reva, and what he had to gain from it. If the hyperdrive didn't conveniently break down, they would have completely lost the group including Kenobi for good again.
People seem to forget that although YES vader is going after Ben he and the Grand Inquisitor are obviously looking for the PATH. It has evaded the empire of 10 years a hidden pathway to smuggle former jedi and forced sensitive away from the empire. Kind of a big fucking deal when basically for the last 10 years that's what they have been doing.
I think this was the perfect time for flashbacks. They served a purpose for the episode’s story and weren’t simply added for fan service sake. My *guess* is that many of us were expecting flashbacks and because of that they seemed to come to late - but considering the take of someone outside the hardcore SW fan bubble, they worked well IMO.
I think some of the weird pacing has to do with this was originally planned as a film. I think some of the issues discussed wouldn’t quite feel so weird if this was abbreviated into one sitting.
@@luttren No CGI at all in the de-aging actually, just the hair and the costume is so perfect that it almost looks like there was de-aging work on the flashback sequences
It seemed to almost directly address several things that you had specifically brought up I really liked how Kenobi really went Kenobi...trying to talk things out, tricksy surrendering, talking people into things, and doing one last little switcheroo trick at the end. And Vader being the Vader we've always wanted to see in the old days
Definitely the best episode imo. It gave me everything i wanted: vader being a badass, flashbacks with Hayden, reva's backstory (obvious yes but still nice to hear), and the grand inquisitor returning. Also that "fight" between vader and reva was SOOOOOOO satisfying
It felt fan servicey. I don't know about you, but I had an easy time predicting many of the plot points of this episode, at least 5-10 minutes before they happen. It felt really cookie cutter. As soon as the creators are concerned about the meaningless details of the escape, it focuses on the wrong aspects of Star Wars. The Leia part of the escape felt very Disneyfied once again. Kenobi was really out of place for a lot of the episode. In one scene, he's holding his saber to protect all the civilians. In the next scene, he's running ahead of everyone, and it gets Cpt. Tala and the droid killed. Cpt. Tala's death felt so unimportant she wasn't really even a strong character besides to progress the plot conveniently. We don't really connect with her much. Reva could have sliced open the doors with her saber when they began sieging the front door to their hideout instead of shooting it with a giant cannon that does nothing. I don't know. This episode was entirely uncreative. Vader could have gone down there, torn the whole place apart, and massacred everyone again like Rogue One. For some reason, he sends the new "Grand Inquisitor," whom I doubt he trusts, given that we understand at the end of the episode that he knows Reva was from the temple.
@@retagainez don’t want to break it in to you. But Star Wars is and will always be a kids based movie/ series that is also very enjoyable for adults. Star Wars had never had a very complex and deep writing style.
@@hoineenietjij3331 What do you mean? I'm speaking about the plot of the show. Star Wars has always had complex plot points. One of those would be Luke discovering who his father truly is! @@retagainez episode 5 had prob. one The best writing we ever had in Star Wars. The flashbacks had actually a deep meaning into this episode and you can still see Darth Vader is still the learner. Writing wise I would call it a 9/10, how it was performed 7,8/10. Of course Star Wars had Some Nice plot holes but it never had really deep writing. It was always very easy to follow and you don’t have to keep focus to understand the story behind the movies.
The Aurebesh above the Jedi symbol says "be with you". Directly to the left of that, it says "Corwin Shelvay", probably a name. The tiny letters under the Jedi symbol are hard to read, but from what I can see, they say "the light fades but is never forgotten". The triangle is Aurebesh for our X, so the two big letters are "XF". The two lines above and to the left of the symbol say "may the force be with you". In the first shot at 5:32, the sentence in the top left says "there is no death", hinting at the Jedi code which says "There is no death, there is the Force". edit: yes i can read aurebesh pretty fluently
The sparring throwback was really fun to watch and extremely well done for a tv show. Glad they didn’t go the de-aging route. Hayden looked great and really kept form. Awesome watch!
sometimes I really like to think of it as them being under 4k resolution especially since we're in a new era of cinema now that we have cameras being able to finally capture smooth movements while also keeping such a crisp quality rather than thinking damn they've aged quite a bit hahah
In the end, I'm not really concerned about that stuff. They're not gonna look exactly how they should no matter what. Had this been a film, they'd probably go to the trouble, but I don't think it really detracts from it. It still feels like them at that point in time. The emotion and movement, the dialogue, their chemistry is still on point.
@@Stevenwave- Agreed, how they look is the least important in these flashbacks. Ewan looks so much like he did in the prequels, it's uncanny. It would have been good if they'd been able to de-age Hayden better since, while he still looks and moves very well, facially he does show some aging. It doesn't spoil anything for me, though. I love these flashbacks!
I wonder what this show could’ve been if throughout the season we had two separate stories going at the same. Flashbacks to them doing shenanigans back in the clone wars with conversations/events that foreshadow the present.
Arrow did this well at times, particularly early on. And it seems the way it was depicted here, and probably will lead to how things end in this show, feels similar.
i said the same thing. we NEED to have Anakin and Obi flashbacks, not just because i want more Hayden screen time, but it would really drive home the point that this is OBI-WAN'S story
I think Reva realized that "the boy" mentioned could be Anakin's or at least related to him, and so in order to exact revenge on Anakin for killing "her family" she's planning on going to Tatooine to kill his.
@@CrackerKilla yes, an amazingly strong desire for revenge that burns so brightly that he's completely content leaving her alive and not finishing the job so that she can come back the exact same way he just did.
The thing that surprised me the most about this episode (beside it opening with Hayden looking out across the Coruscant skyline and bringing a tear of joy to my eye) is that it made me sympathise with Reva and actually like her as a character. It fixed a lot of the confusing things about her, we all wondered how she knows that Anakin is Vader - that she was a youngling that actually saw him in the temple during order 66 is a really cool way of showing that. We also wondered why she's been allowed to get away with things Vader wouldn't hesitate to kill others for - and of course all this time she's felt like she's the mastermind fooling every one, but nope, Vader and the GI knew she was up to something and were just using her to get to Kenobi. She kind of reminds me of Ventress, she's good at heart but had a rough go of it and is now forced to serve a Sith Lord who she despises, I kind of hope she survives for a while and helps the rebels, but I think Obi-Wan is going to be forced to kill her to protect Luke. Also, Obi-Wan doing his classic Clone Wars false surrender negotiation tactics was amazing.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Reva's likeable now. She cut off some random villager's hand out of sheer spite, and was ready to torture a child. Sympathetic past or not, she's too far gone. If she somehow managed to kill Vader, she'd gladly take his place.
"Fixed" It's called a story bro, you wait to see how it plays out instead of the SW fandom screaming after each episode how this and that didn't make sense and jumped to conclusions about breaking canon and blah blah blah.
@@LydiaIsSweet Yeah okay I worded that wrong there, I was actually going to say something about being patient but, to be fair, they have let us down frequently in the past few years when we've shown that patience and believed it's going to work out, so it's not like it's unreasonable to be concerned when certain things aren't adding up.
Maaaan I almost cried when the flashbacks came. I looooved that lesson and just seeing the knowledge Kenobi had as a master. And Hayden omg what a fantastic job he did portraying clearly the issues Anakin had and how they formed while they trained.
The scene with Obi-Wan and Anakin was priceless just like the scene of young Luke and Leia in The Rise of Skywalker. Just like the fight scene between Mando and Ahsoka these scenes revisits battles in the history of Star Wars. The hallway battle was awesome.
@@Inebriated_Goat The deal is with Disney they need to find writers who understand the. For example, little Leia. They over did it with her character on her learning how to rig a door and Reva her character needs to fleshed out, to much potential in that character. I have seen the attacks from Disney employees, it needs to stop.
"She's a Skywalker, like Anakin at age 9... basically like human gods" Considering this lineage was born from the will of the Force, I agree. The Skywalkers are gods.
Anyone else think Obi Wan was giving heavy Darth Sidious vibes with Reva? He knew he’d sway her, he also knew she stood literally no chance against Vader… but yet he still twisted her mind to move her plans up by probably a good 5 years. Quite chilling when you break it down. Yes I know she’s too far gone now for Obi to save, but she was taken to them very young and was swayed out of fear, not loyalty.
I don't think the flashback necessarily confirms Anakin stabs reva at all. It can simply be interpreted as being her pov in that moment, in her mind equating her current situation with the one during order 66 and seeing vader as anakin and herself as her younger self, it doesn't necessarily mean that the "flashback" is 1 to 1 of what happened
The parallels in this episode were amazing. Even Reva vs Vader somewhat mirrored Anakin vs Obi Wan. He defeated Reva and disarmed her without his weapon just like Obi Wan did to him.
Oh! I just realized something! I think somewhere in the comics it mentions vader hates double blades right?! Remember how he split reva’s saber in two and then gave the other half to her? Kinda like saying “if you wanna try and kill me, do it better”
I love how Hayden and Ewan were not de-aged during the duel. This was such a beautiful episode, I love how this compares anakin in episode 2 to Vader. I love how Anakin's bashing of the lightsaber while Obi is on the ground complements the fight in episode 3 of Obi wan and Luke Vs Vader in ep6. This episode was very well done and is one of the best episodes produced by Disney. I hope Lucas is proud of this

They should’ve just put makeup on him. The CGI looks awful but at least we got Hayden back in live.
"Mercy doesn't defeat an enemy, master... which is why you're gonna lose!" was 100% Lanter. Amazing job by Hayden

Honestly, limited series like this are usually best viewed all at once. Like one big movie, but the fact it's been a weekly release has stunted it in certain aspects.
well yes when you have to sit through some garbage episodes, a decent one feels like a masterpiece
We got to see Obi Wan go through his trauma, regain hope and even platonic love through Leia…

I dont see many people mentioning flashback Hayden taking inspiration from Matt Lanter's performance in TCW, felt like his character was kind of a blend between the two and I loved it! I feel like Hayden absolutely watched TCW and nailed this performance!

He did watch the TCW by the way ;)
Yes he absolutely nailed Anakin here! I loved it. Now I really want some more clone wars era stuff in live action with hayden
@@Quantumpencil Same!!! 😭🥲🥲
@@vanvaneful Didn't he binge it beforehand? I think I remember seeing that somewhere...
The part where Vader took Her lightsaber like nothing, basically said “come at me”💀 but overall 10/10 beautiful episode❤️
I think Vader was referring to Reva. When he states “it’s not them we need to break”. Since he already knew she was one of the younglings and the grand inquisitor told him how she betrayed him.
Thats a good point.
Or he meant just Kenobi
@@wolff3384 yeah lol
The deliberate story-telling has been beautiful. This is Kenobi's series, not Anakin's, and not Vader's. Love the show.
Hayden's still got it! After almost 20 years...he's EXACTLY the same as he was in Attack of the Clones. It was so impressive, he nailed it!
Nah man. He definitely aged a lot. I mean of course. We all will
And still so very sexy he's aged very well
They have de-aged him a bit with CGI so that’s why he’s the same as in Attack of the clones
@@luttren No CGI at all in the de-aging actually, just the hair and the costume is so perfect that it almost looks like there was de-aging work on the flashback sequences
@@luttren I've seen the off screen interviews he's still very sexy
It seemed to almost directly address several things that you had specifically brought up
I really liked how Kenobi really went Kenobi...trying to talk things out, tricksy surrendering, talking people into things, and doing one last little switcheroo trick at the end.
By far the best display of Vader's power to ever grace the screen.
I loved that the flashbacks actually had meaning and weren’t just fan service. Also I was so gassed when Hayden did the spin move
10/10 writing. Really well done
Star Wars is a space opera. There should be touching moments like that, but I didn't feel any of those in this show.
Looking for this, thank u

Yes I can read aurebesh fluently 🤓🤓🤓
Why does it matter to you wether he is fluent in aurebesh or not?
Corwin Shelvay is indeed the name. you can look it up.
The sparring throwback was really fun to watch and extremely well done for a tv show. Glad they didn’t go the de-aging route. Hayden looked great and really kept form. Awesome watch!
For me clearing seeing he is not a teenager really took me out of it. Glad it’s not bugging everyone though.
i feel like they couldve done a TINY bit de-aging just to give him the "younger" look hes supposed to have in said flash backs.
sometimes I really like to think of it as them being under 4k resolution especially since we're in a new era of cinema now that we have cameras being able to finally capture smooth movements while also keeping such a crisp quality rather than thinking damn they've aged quite a bit hahah
Age has left no rust on Hayden and Ewan. Those flash back bits felt straight out of the prequels. Great sense of nostalgia for sure!
I wonder what this show could’ve been if throughout the season we had two separate stories going at the same. Flashbacks to them doing shenanigans back in the clone wars with conversations/events that foreshadow the present.
That would have been really cool
Arrow did this well at times, particularly early on. And it seems the way it was depicted here, and probably will lead to how things end in this show, feels similar.
I'll watch a Vader show. It would be cool to see him adjust to the dark side and the suit.
This is the best-written episode so far. They need to let that writer do more of the episodes.
i said the same thing. we NEED to have Anakin and Obi flashbacks, not just because i want more Hayden screen time, but it would really drive home the point that this is OBI-WAN'S story
I think Reva realized that "the boy" mentioned could be Anakin's or at least related to him, and so in order to exact revenge on Anakin for killing "her family" she's planning on going to Tatooine to kill his.
Oh, that could be.
But wait, she is going to survive again a stabbing? Doesn't make sense to me...
Or she could link up with Darth Maul Crew . Now we talking Solo Era
@@endoplasma the Grand Inquisitor survived a lightsaber wound he said so himself "amazing what revenge will do"
@@CrackerKilla yes, an amazingly strong desire for revenge that burns so brightly that he's completely content leaving her alive and not finishing the job so that she can come back the exact same way he just did.
Obi wan, back at it again with the war crimes
I wouldn't go so far as to say Reva's likeable now. She cut off some random villager's hand out of sheer spite, and was ready to torture a child. Sympathetic past or not, she's too far gone. If she somehow managed to kill Vader, she'd gladly take his place.
"Fixed"
It's called a story bro, you wait to see how it plays out instead of the SW fandom screaming after each episode how this and that didn't make sense and jumped to conclusions about breaking canon and blah blah blah.
If qui gons force ghost shows up and sees all these people surviving being stabbed in the gut he’s gonna be pretty upset
Right! And people say Disney doesn't like star wars. If they didn't they wouldn't put this much detail and attention into their scenes..
@@Inebriated_Goat The deal is with Disney they need to find writers who understand the. For example, little Leia. Quite chilling when you break it down. Yes I know she’s too far gone now for Obi to save, but she was taken to them very young and was swayed out of fear, not loyalty.

@@Oldstalk Vader effortlessly killing rebel soldiers is nothing new
I don't think the flashback necessarily confirms Anakin stabs reva at all. It can simply be interpreted as being her pov in that moment, in her mind equating her current situation with the one during order 66 and seeing vader as anakin and herself as her younger self, it doesn't necessarily mean that the "flashback" is 1 to 1 of what happened
She still gets stabbed and is fine about 20 seconds later. On top of that Vader should have known this and finished her off
I agree
Agree
that’s what I thought it was when I first saw the scene.
I disagree. He struck down all the younglings as Palpatine ordered, he would not have allowed Reeve to survive let’s be honest
I hope Lucas is proud of this
I didn't. All believability went out the window. I'm sure they didn't deep fake or de-age for budget purposes, and because of that I couldn't get wrapped up in the flash back.
