The clearest and best video on RUclips for installing the OF 2200 in the CMS!

Terry Holdredge can you help me out? I'm going to get the 2200 but when I look at the 2017 Festool catalog, they show that the cms tables are for the 1010 and the 1400, but don't mention the 2200. I need to run large panel bits and was hoping you could explain what I'm missing. Thank you for your time.

To my knowledge there is no article or video that shows complete integration of the OF 2200 in the CMS table for use with large panel-making bits. I used the above video, the somewhat sketchy instructions, and (hopefully) common sense to install the 2200 and it works flawlessly with the large diameter panel-making bits. The entire system is designed for on-site tradesmen rather than cabinet makers in the shop setting, which explains the thrust of marketing and instruction. Hope that helps.

Terry Holdredge thank you for your quick response! Yes that does help. One other question, does the motor shield ring to keep dust from getting into the motor come with the router?

Great video! Where can I find the dust protection insert you show 1:58 in the video that protects against dust falling into the motor? Thank you very much! Jay.

Great video! However when I went to order a 2200 from Toolnut there's a notice on the 2200 page that this router isn't compatible with the American CMS table. When I talked to a Toolnut product guy he said it was an electrical issue, as in the 2200 runs more amps than the switch on the table supports. Kinda makes sense but he said the real story needs to come from Festool. So I called them and their guy was pretty unhelpful and just said the 2200 doesn't come with the parts needed to fit the CMS. Which brings me back here, as you clearly have all the parts and it looks like it working perfectly. Can you clear this up for me?

It fits just fine. Don’t ask festool for help. Legally nod nod wink wink they have to say it doesn’t work.

I have heard from my Festool dealer that as he understands the situation, to enable the 2200 would have required paying Underwriters Laboratories a fee. Since UL is a private company and not a government/regulatory entity, Festool said no way. Because it didn't have the UL approval for the 2200 (higher current draw?) they couldn't sell it as UL approved. I assume it draws the same current in other markets (EU) and don't have a problem.
I have heard that if you run a 2200 on the CMS in US it may void your warranty, but I don't know if this is true.

@@tarkbunch2142 Europe has double the voltage and half the amperage. Small wires can handle high voltage, but once the amps go up the wire gauge has to as well.
