Rick James tearing Eddie Murphy house up through out the years is hilarious to me
Me 2 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂🤣😂😂🤣😂Charlie Murphy true Hollywood story
Charlie Murphy tells that perfectly.. lol!
Super facts 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆
I think what I'm most touched by is how Darius humanized the Legend that is Rick James.
Agreed.
I agree. A lot of people talk about him like he is a myth or folklore. You hear the party stories, which are fun, but it's good to hear about him as a man.
I really like what I see from Darius.
Well he knew him when he was young so it's like talking about your uncle different views.
Where’s Charlie when you need him 😂😂😂
The fact that Eddie Winslow and Rick James was running together is comedy in itself
I'm looking at Eddie now and I never thought I'd say this but, cocaine is a helluva drug lol..
Broooo right 🤣😂🤣😂
Rick James & 2pac.....two artist I'll never get tired hearing stories about.
Definitely...
Facts!!!
Rick James >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2Pac
@@paulhue86 Is this a competition? Why not just appreciate them both. FOH with that negative sh!t.
Factz
Wow gotta love Darius for putting respect on Rick James’ name!!
i wanna put sum respect on ur name boo
Absolutly!
I love stories like this about the greats/legends like Prince, MJ, Rick James and so many others. It's great to hear it from their "family" who humanize these people instead of tearing through their legacies with rumors, scandals and filth. I love these "uncle-like" tales because they're so relatable lol I can't wait for the next part of this interview.
Yo... u gotta watch Siggy Jackson talk about MJ.. look it up. The Real, loving MJ
@@sharitastinson109 thanks I'll look it up tonight!
@@sharitastinson109 is it a recent interview on Power 106 Los Angeles? That was the first one that popped up in search results here on RUclips
@@OurKindofEntertainment yes
@@OurKindofEntertainment Great... Siggy is a real one
His impersonation of Rick is spot on!!! Lol
Just watched Unsung and you are right. It's not even an impression it's so good.
I know right
I agree!
That's right 👍
“He represented freedom. He represented honesty.”
I felt like I just had a moment on the couch laughing with one of my favorite family members...Darius is so down-to-earth. Glad to see that
dido!
I read that as "one of my favorite family matters" lolol
I love his bravado..
Darius needs to create his own Hollywood stories to keep Charlie Murphy legacy of story telling alive and I believe he has some classics that might top the few Charlie put out.
No one can tell the stories like Charlie Murphy. No one. LOL
Eddie was too nice Rick wouldn’t keep tearing up my shit
😭🤣
I feel you, but to those guys, money is not an object. He probably didn't care that much. You and I are on the same page though lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
diealect whether money is no object or otherwise, no one would entertain people tearing up their stuff lol that would be crazy
A line stepper...HABITUALLY!
This dude is a class act.
His interviews make me a fan.
You can tell he was around Rick. He sound just like him.
The “journalist” should never be allowed to write about music again.
You cute af but yeah i agree fuck that journalist lol
@@SPLASHGOD575 😂😂😂😂😁😁😁😀😀😀
SPLÄ$H GØD nigga can’t think without their dicks on god
@blackbull5150 i think she means "... Without their dicks, on god." 🤷🏿♂️😂
*NEVER*
Be thankful you got that last hug and kiss, and got to say I love you. Most of us dnt get to say or do that. Great story!...R.I.P. Rick James and Charlie Murphy
“Rick used to tear up Eddie’s shit quite often.” 🤣
Rick James used to jump from behind the bushes and be like “Eddie Winslowww!!” Punch him in the face then run off.
Dutch3k5 😅😄😀
lmao
Dutch3k5 😂 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
The true untold story
Darius should sit down one day on a podcast and tell some of his Hollywood stories. I'm sure he has some incredible ones in the vault.
Oh...he will be serving much TEA...
WHO ELSE WANNA HEAR EDDIE MURPHY TELL SOME RICK JAMES STORIES!!
He probably will in his upcoming Netflix special.
No one will ever be able to tell Rick James story except Charlie Murphy period.
I would!
I’m searching everyday! It’ll happen eventually. I wanna hear Eddie speak on Rick James and his big brother Charlie.
Yeah facts......how in the hell do you call Rick James a "one hit wonder".....He's a funk Superstar...... must've been a young white journalist from the states
Exactly!!👍🏾👍🏾
That "journalist" has no business writing about music EVER.
an unknown writer wanted attention
Rick James was a mega star.. Like Someone said above me *"Some young unknown white journalist looking for attention"* I bet it is! I never heard no one say that ever.. A one hit wonder.. As long as I been on this Earth I never heard that from no one from the streets or a profession until now and it's still not true at all..
Yeah calling Rick that was a sign of ignorance.
Rick James saved Motown, he wrote hits for other Motown artists as well as himself. That journalist is very lazy and/or bias.
We all know that Journalist don't know sh_t.. I never heard no one say that about Rick James! No one..
Rick James was an Amazing Musician, but he did not save Motown. James was signed to Gordy, a subsidiary division of Motown. I do concur with that alleged journalist not knowing what he was talking about, especially since Super Freak( which I assume was the only song that journalist knew), wasn't even his biggest hit it was You and I, from the Come Get It Album, which was his highest charting hit on any chart. During his 1978 to 1986 run the highest selling performers were: The Commodores, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, and Stevie Wonder, and he didn't write their hits.
He's Lazy 🤔& Not a journalist 🧐
That journalist is a fkkn airhead!!!
He wrote for u and yours
"C'mon D, let's go talk to Eddie" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Darius McCrary was a hooper too. He’s a great artist and he was an awesome athlete. Salute to you sir. 🙏🏾
Think you mean Donovan his bro. I grew up with the family 2 blocks away .. 6 best friends . Walnut ca. Branding iron street. Dariuos always performed . Never played organized sports . Sorry
DOZHA211 hey whatever. Them niggas look just alike then. And he played with Paul Pierce in the Vegas big time. I do know that much. I was there bruh. Point is dude was a hooper.
What fool had the delusional audacity to refer to Rick MF'n James as a "one hit wonder"....?
He lying
The right word is 'stupid'.
He tryna be pc but y'all know that wasn't 'us'.
Y'all should have seen the face I made when Darius stated what so called journalist said about RICK JAMES...🤨😑😱
A white one....
"I was driving b4 you was a thought"🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀
"Low Key", Eddie did the hell out of that voice!!!🤣🤣👍🏾👍🏾
Folks referred to Rick James as a “1 hit wonder?”🤔
Who said that ? *porsha voice Kandi face*💀🤣. The interviewer wasn’t here for Darius’s jokes huh🤦🏽♀️🤣💀
He saved Motown they didn't know what Mary Jane ment
Somebody that don't listen to nothing at all..
Dennis Conner must be 🤷🏽♀️
Ricardo Cadet 🤣💀
ciaobella, porsha voice candy face! love it!
This brother would be perfect for the life story of former football player Michael Irving.
Bro thats a great bio brutha put it in motion mane
Lol
Dammit... I can totally see that!
Your on to something SPECIAL my guy..
@@oleboy5521 a,ight 👍
Wow its crazy he was one of the last person to see Rick James alive and Rick say he would tell this story. Its like he knew this would be the last time they saw each other. Very sad but very enlightening. R.I.P James!!
7:06 This kind of laugh from a memory about someone who isn't here anymore almost brings them back to life. R.I.P.
"Just go to your room." LMAO! 😁
It was 7 Temptations Melvin, Eddie,Otis, Dennis, Glenn, David and Richard. Paul died in 73'. But dope story.
Exactly, I was like Paul he was day way before this reunion the hell
Yea that Paul part didn’t add up to me either & that’s just from me seeing the movie twenty-lem-hunnid-million times 😂
Yes you are right Paul wasn't in that video, I wished he was but Glenn or Richard took his place. R.I.P Paul Williams with your soulful voice.
When the interviewer asked him what Rick represented, I knew he would say freedom. Rick was that.
RIck James was a WONDERFUL MESS! I thought that he was also a very good singer. He was wiser than most and lived a very good life despite it all.
YOU SHOULD WATCH HIS DOC. ONE OF THE GREATEST MUSICIANS EVER. WE ALL HAVE OUR UPS AND DOWN, DONT PUT THIS DIRT ON HIS NAME. HE WAS THE KING OF POP FUNK, READ ABOUT WHAT HE DID UP IN CANADA TOO.
Yo Standing On The Top is still a banger
soon as he said it, I can hear the song playing in my head
youngins go watch it on youtube
If Paul Williams was there in Rick James story, then cocaine really is a hell of a drug, considering Standing On The Top was made 9 years after Paul Williams died lol.
@@dcott7071 Exactly😂
Yes it is. But he mentioned Paul was there. I may be wrong but wasn't he already gone when they all recorded that song?
Absolutely...that is one large, incredibly banging funk masterpiece !
Damn I would've never guessed that Darius Mccrary, being from Family Matters, was chilling with Rick James and Eddie Murphy AT Eddie's house.
Charlie prolly woulda shot Rick in his good leg for real Lmao
🤣😂
🤣
What a FUN YOUNG LIFE for Darius hanging with LEGENDS RICK JAMES & EDDIE MURPHY men who achieved the top of their game
I pictured the interviewer with a blank stare every time Darius laughed at something. Tf wrong with him? He was so quiet during those moments. And THAT, ladies and gentlemen is why late night talk show hosts do the “fake laugh” thing that y’all constantly complain about. 😯
Lmfaoo! This comment is gold and 100% correct. This is exactly why late night personalities developed the ‘fake chuckle.’ Some can go overboard *cough*jimmy fallon*cough* BUT every single host does it and it’s necessary. At least studio audiences ease some load from the host. Interview settings like this can either be amazing because it’s intimate or awful like this because the interviewer is dull/bland.
Rick James was a father figure to Darius...actually makes sense if you really think about it.
Everytime I hear the name Otis, I can hear David Ruffin say aint nobody here to see you Otis! 😆😆 shit cracks me up.
Rick James was one of the most talented musicians and composer's to ever live. He was more than a performance artist.
That story was deep. Like 8 feet deep. I need to go sit down somewhere.
Thomas Fraser 🤣
Man... sitchoo ass down.
lol fr tho
Made me feel so good to hear him speak of Poppa Rick in such a way that brought warmth to my heart and a genuine smile of gratitude. Thanks for having this great interview.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m picturing Dave Chappell doing this sketch and Charlie Murphy telling the story of Rick James backing into that fountain!
When Darius was speaking on The Temptations he said Paul Williams was there but he meant Richard Street. Paul passed away in early 70's before making Standing On The Top.
A life well lived Mr McCrary..... hung out with legends
That was great to give props to King of Funk Rick James...Darius💪🏽Black 🤴🏾... that last story was deep!!!!
I personally thought Rick James was underrated when it came down to the music
But it was only according to MTV.... Because in the African American community he was and still is a legend in his own Right
Are you insane? He did things in the genre of funk that are being copied and studied in music for all time. If anything he's underrated. Foh
Those of is who been there in the 80s knew he was never underrated.✌🏾🍷
His legacy speaks for itself. Rick James was a legend.
When I say underrated I’m saying he didn’t really get his damn credit I know he’s a damn legend
I wanted to hear more about that Temptations “Standing on The Top” session...
That's my jam they getting down in that video
Standing on the top was great....but Paul Williams was not there. He had passed before that time.
Jae Watson you’re right. Paul wasn’t alive at that time.
Cool guy!I met him in a club 10 years ago he’s very approachable he took a few pictures with us.Classy guy
Rick James impression 😅
Hell yea
They was getting higher than a Muthafucka!😂😂....Respect to the Legend Rick James!
I do the truth behind rick james stories now everyone wants to talk about Rick, I love it
Who else can hear Charlie Murphy telling the fountain story?
There should have been more Charlie Murphy True Hollywood Stories..
The interviewer has no personality😒 Darius’s Rick impersonation is spot on!
@Nikita Watkins I hear what you’re saying but there were some real opportunities for some great follow up questions but the interviewer just stuck to his script. It’s unfortunate.
One hit wonder? Are you f'n serious?
Rick is a LEGEND!
That story about the last time he saw him gave me chills Rick must have known.....
Paul Williams has already passed at that time the temptation reunion was with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks and Rick James was Melvin “Blue” Franklin the bass singer nephew
Really? Blue's nephew??
Dikéle yeah look it up
Blue was also Davids cousin
Brian Poole you know what’s even funnier that Blue real name is David
That so called journalist should have been Fired after that. "Rick James a One Hit Womder"
He lying
Damn he eerily sounds just like Rick James. Rick was Aquarius born to the fullest🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious Rick blamed Darius 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Its crazy how every time he did the Rick James voice, I could see Rick in my head sayin those things. Mannerisms & all, lol. I felt Rick’s whole energy every time he did the voice.
I see hanging around Rick would get me in trouble 😂😂😂😂
1982 The Temptations Reunion
David Ruffin
Eddie Kendicks
Otis Williams
Melvin Franklin
Dennis Edwards
Richard Street
Glen Leonard ..and
RICK JAMES
Standing on the Top
How I know he was talking bout supahead lol
People today, don't realize that one of the most influential songs in terms of allowing hip hop to crossover world wide, was MC Hammer's Can't Touch This. It was sampled from Rick James's Super Freak.
RUclips has become a gold mine for old stories from legendary artists and entertainers! Great story.
U should sing more I remember u and Traci Spencer singing together u got a nice voice
2:18 corrected..
As an 80's baby, I grew up on Rick James and others. But, my dad was keen on Rick. That man was a genius, writing songs for numerous of ppl. Including Eddie!
Three of my fav songs from Slick Rick:
1. Ghetto Life
2. Ebony Eyes feat Smokey
3. Cold Blooded
Rest peacefully Brother Rick⚘💕💯👍🏿✊🏿💪🏿
#LEGEND🎵🎸
Look at Eddie all Hollywooded up with his eye on his chest showing his loyalty to his craft
I'm Rick James Biiih!
Ghetttooo Liiifffeee!!
😳👀aight, everybody get in the car! Let's go! 🚗💨💨💨💨
I was a teenager when Rick was that dude. He was killing the charts. He was multitalented, he could write, play music and sing. We loved his music.
Cool story, after listening to this hard to fathom it's been 15 yrs. since Rick's passing, gone yet never forgotten.
I love this guy & hearing Rick James stories ❤💜❤
Wow! That was so refreshingly informative. I really enjoyed hearing Darius speak so openly about his relationship and memories of Rick James. It touched me so much that I was in tears. Such a legend.
Thank you Darius.
Thank you Comedy Hype for sharing for this great video.
Rick James...Bravo Baby! RIP.
A beautiful tribute to a great man and artist! You can feel the love Darius had for Rick James. Much appreciated!
Man I know that I’m not the only one who wishes that could have seen this for real.😂✊🏾🤣
3:57 Eddie Winslow, Paul was dead when they recorded standing at the top. It was Richard Street, and Glenn Leonard who jumped on that track. It was actually seven temps on that album.
Facts!!!
You get an a.
I'm so fascinated with the king of funk. Rick James RIP. Great interview Darius💓
Rick had almost complete albums filled with hits..... His very first album that I bought in the summer of 1978 had 3 itself
Yup
That Mary Jane had Rick out here tripp'n..Thank you Darius for the humor..
Rick James was one of the best performers if his time. I love all his music. He put the f in funk..to me his song I resonate w him is his duet w Teena Marie fire and desire. That's my song. I listen to it all the time. I'm a big Rick James fan. He's gone too soon. Thanks for updating this video Rick James was well loved by people all over.
Rick James represented freedom. That is so true. We need more people like him in this world. Unfortunately faceless haters online will never let that happen.
Good ol Darius McCrary, just his face gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.
sometimes "comedy hype" as the interviewer is often not in tune to the story, he tells a surreal story and at 5:17 mark he ignores it
I know
"Its a CELEBRATION! "
*yoo that story tho.. 😂 reminds me of my uncles*
Paul wasn't on standing on the top Richard street was taken his place 🤔
Low-key it was Rick James lol in the studio
Love this interview. Would like to hear more from Darius. I still cant stop calling him lil Eddie Winslow
Darius sounds like an old school southern dad.
Where was Rick James when Darius was messin with Superhead. Damn Rick really did tear up Eddie's stuff on the regular.
Any stories about the funk era I'm all ears. Practically every popular genre of music today steals from the funk. If you got a funky bassline then chances are that song has a good chance of being a hit and Rick was a master at finding that hook
It would have been hilarious if Rick James said “Did I do that?”
How did he stop you from dealing with certain women when you literally married SupaHead?
He had to learn on his own...
Bro I thought the same shit Lmao Rick like " That's a good woman over there" lol
He had died before that
The woman's name is SUPERhead. Sometimes all the talking in the world ain't gonna work
i think thats who hes talking about without giving us too much detail
You so sound like Rick James. Rick James help Micheal Jackson, Prince and Rick James for sure. I have that reunion tape!! Yeah, I said it. Tape 😁😁😁YOU SAID THE SAME THING I SAID!!! Rick James, Represented FREEDOM!!! I love Darius laugh. Now, that’s a memory and the love of a friend. A real gut laugh!!!
He's right about Rick represented freedom. We called him slick Rick and he had no boundaries. This cat pull out a joint on soul train and was going to light it .I wish he was still around making music.
Rick was the King of Punk Funk,to be specific. 👍🏿👏🏿✊🏿🌹
