I think that BotW bases the damage taken from how long the torso portion of Link's body has fallen and at a certain speed. If you notice, when Link lands on his legs, he took no damage and the ragdoll physics ended up having Link land on his torso area, and then the damage registered. If anything, it's most likely based off of "X meters traveled while falling = damage taken", as seen when Link rolls off a cliff.
The funniest yet most annoying thing in this game is when you climb up some cliff for a solid minute and once you finally get to the top some random enemy you couldn't guess was there proceeds to throw you back down, and you have to watch Link ragdolling all the way down knowing he won't survive the fall, so you're just waiting for death.

James Kernaghan similar thing, only swam up a waterfall, hit a dragon in the stomach, take ragdoll damage as I go down, hit the floor behind a waterfall, and that's how I accidentally discovered one of the shrines!
I haven't had any major ragdoll deaths so far, I mash X to get out of it; but I bombed myself off a cliff and survived the fall. So did a Bokoblin, when I did that a second time.

Probably one of the more fun things I did was glide off of mt. Doom and drop. Landed on a cliff ledge, died, mipha revived me as I kept falling, hit top of a hill, rolled down hill and slid into the middle of a road right in front of a traveler. Ate a single apple to get to full health.
I love falling and ragdolling to the bottom of a mountain. Miphas grace, and fairys you keep in your inventory will keep you alive for quite a while so I save before falling so I don't waste my fairys in the game.
A Channel the camera could've been a tad higher so we can view the entire body. Other than that, editing must've been hell for you. You earned yourself a like.
