this is one of my childhood school memories , saw this in primary school we used to have days where we would have games in or get to watch a movie. the teachers chose this for us lol love it. it still holds up well today love the makeup and practical effects. please please give this a 4k treatment it would be a day 1 buy.

They filmed 2 different ending 1: where Luke stays a mouse 2. Where Luke turns back into a boy Test audiences didn't like the mouse which is the originals ending from Roll Doll novel so they chose to turn Luck back. The new version has several changes including the setting America in the 1960 vs England, like the novel and original film, but keeps the book ending. I personally think the 1980 film is better, but that just my option. What do you think?
The Witches here look mostly ordinary and everyday, many even frumpy, with a few cute enough to date, which makes them scarier when you realise their true nature and makes sense they can lull kids to their doom so easily. In the remake they look so ridiculously high-maintenance they're already off-putting when you see them.

The Grand High Witch was the one who spiked Helga's sandwich and coffee (6:15), causing her to pass out (8:30), and ultimately rendering her unable to protect Luke when he came to wake her up!! Jasen Fisher (Luke) was adorable in this movie, and he's still cute today at 40! Mai Zetterling (Helga) was also pretty for her age... Too bad she's a registered communist, being a member of the Hollywood Left.
