A new minecraft dimension that is like this would be insane, it randomly generates terrain behind you and just confuses the hell out of you (edit: there would have to be a handheld device in your inventory instead of a portal, like an ender pearl or something used to get back out?)
I imagine that if it was a demension everyone who would enter would probably be stuck there because they turn their back and their portal just dissappears
Or... hear me out people in the reply section, it's a *mod* for Minecraft and not actually a part of the game. Yes it would be fun for its own challenge, or maybe a part of an april fools update, but not an entire dimension that is basically just dementia versions of the other 3 dimensions. (Which is the overworld 99% of the time)
So, what appears to be happening, things only stay generated when you look at them. When you let something out of your sight, the AI de-generates it, but attempts to regenerate it upon looking back at it. It does this by examining the color and texture that the thing was made out of, as well as the color and texture of it's blocks, and tries to find something that matches those qualities. Because it's AI generated, things become very blurry of vision, which sometines causes it to confuse itself. This is why when Saucy tried building a house with oak, the game tried searching for other oak wood blocks, and condused the color of the blocks with a dirt path. And upon the sight of a path, a village was auto generated out of basic knowledge of Minecraft. This is actually quite fascinating!
pro tips: keep on eye on something if you dont wanna lose it but if you wanna change something look away from it, you can use some blocks to make a perspective, use this to make a village or something(just be carefull of land changing)
I made a bridge by placing a block, looking partially away, then when it formed a line I looked partially away again. Kept repeating it and it made an infinite bridge. It actually took me into the sky, where I suddenly was able to fly as if I was in creative move lol
My sister and I played this trying to find a bunch of different things. I was able to find pure darkness, turn flowers into lava, and she was able to create part of the nether and got a nether portal effect to happen once. It’s actually really fun to just try and make the things you want to happen actually happen.
The reason only things in view are somewhat consistent is because the AI only considers the current frame and predicts the next, it doesn't have memory. This is also why inventories are random, and part of why it sometimes shifts everything . Once it makes a mistake that mistake can become amplified, while it tries to correct it that can make the terrain completely different. And when there are few different pixels, like looking at the sky, it also gets confused because it learns from relationships between pixels. It's low quality because training and running it is computationally expensive, and they made it run at a high framerate and available to run the model locally.
This has to be what it’s like to be a critter You live in a constantly shifting world that can’t be understood and has no continuity, and the most agency you have is your instincts
if you ever do this again, just remember, the rule is: "Out of sight, out of existence." also if you rotate, it is generating new stuff. that's why stuff re-generates when it exits your vision for one frame
Id say you were in a house when you entered that dark ass basement near the end. Crazy video, was flying with you on this one, insane. Next goal you should try to find a kill screen, like try swimming in lava.

I know how these ais on a high level work. Basically (nerd time anyway) Edit: [( I know there's a few comments in here similar, the top one didn't go very in depth about training aka why it does what it does. Also yes, this means if you manged to do something, you can trick the ai to do it. Aka u spawning a village as an example as the other comment shown. Also, this video will be blowing up with nerds so get ready. )] The AI has been visually trained on Minecraft, said for millions of hours. It has the last 1-3 seconds (the version of this i read had a 3 second memory) worth of frames remembered. This is why when you look away for time, it disappears. It litterally forgot. The shape-shifting is one thing looking too similar to another thing it commonly seen. This is why when you focus on a hole within stone, the surroundings turn into a cave. As beting in a hole with stone around is what a cave often looks like. It has no fundamental understanding of what a building is like, how it rotates, position, shape. Etc. Which make houses amd village houses hard for it to do, since they often have a texture generally similar to stone, granite, and a forest, they are transformed into them. The occasional biome switching is also caused by this. Since the surroundings Y looks too similar to X. (Ive now seen the source itself, if anything contradicts the following, my bad. I can only see 4 lines on this dumb mobile device): the ai is apprently trained on video footage, and also may or may not even remember past frames, although i will guess it'll be at like 1-5 extra frames. Cant be too schizo. The fact that the world is blurry makes the shape-shifting quite apparent. Higher res can reduce this. But that means even more pixels has to be rendered per frame. Which makes it way slower than now. How the ai are trained is just random inputs and then records it, checks how good it's guest was of what it would've look like, and punish/reward accordingly. Zo the millions of playtime, is in human terms, more like what a 15 hour minecraft user would guess how a playtime of minecraft would be like. But then add dementia.
Does anyone else look up from their phone watching this vid and can simply not make any sense of the world around you excepting everything to shift and morph?
